User ImageSiti moved forward knowling followed by her daughter, Lilavati. The cub was so adventurous and never one to be left behind. She would be scolded for following later, but for now Siti allowed it as a lesson.

Siti was scouting out the area. The prey had moved and she need to find them again. Knowing where your prey resided made hunting go more smoothly. Her eyes gazed over the savannah, as she moved forward, but seeing nothing. It was hot and dry, a mid-day like any other.

Siti sat in the grasses for a moment trying to focus her sences. She listened with her ears, closing her eyes. She could hear Lilavati soft padded had ciesed and she assumed her cub was trying to keep from be foudn out. Her ear swivled around as she listened for the sounds of moving herds farther off.

Not too distantly away hiding in the tall, dry grass lay another lion. Or lion cub, to be more accurate. It was only thanks to the length of said grass that he was able to blend in well with his pale gray fur. His dark tail flicked idly behind him as he scanned his surroundings tiredly. It was always like this by midday. Do'al would be off with his hunting 'pack', and once a meal was caught the cub was expected to move away. A policy Tap learned quickly and eagerly to safe his skin from more dominant lions. If he was lucky, maybe there'd be some scraps left over for him today.

Giving a hopeless sigh however, the boy had no problem spending this time alone. It'd provide a quiet nap time, if anything. He'd doubt there'd be any predators here so close to Do'al's group. Right?......

Siti could hear the prey after a moment, but they were still far off from where she was. She wandered breifly if Lila had heard them as well before heading off in the direction of the prey. She had not gotten very far when the scent of other predators caught her attention. She was entering some esles territory and she knew that could lead to a hostile encounter. She couldn't chance this with Lila following her.

She turned to find another way when she heard a small almost inaudible sigh. Her ears perked up and she turned looking for the source but seeing nothing. "Hello," she called out lightly, "Is someone there? If so, do not fear. I am friendly I mean no harm."

Siti could feel Lila's eyes on her watching her curiously. She turned in the cubs direction giving her a stern looking. Letting Lila know she knew she was there and not to be seen. She turned back as Lila ducked lower into the grasses.

Oh?

Tap lifted his chin cautiously as he listened in on the voice. It didn't sound like the red lion, or any others that he knew from the group. So who was that? It sounded like a girl....and it sounded too friendly. Confused, the cub decided to stay quiet and hidden. Maybe it was only a trick. But he winced with a hushed gasp, glancing over as he could hear the grass around him crunch. Someone was walking nearby! An ear flicked, and he could hear more grass getting moved about in another area. W....was there more than one?! What was he to do? If he disappeared, he was certain Do'al wouldn't mind. But if he caused trouble in their territory, he feared it'd call for punishment. Feeling almost panicked, the boy tried to crawl away backwards unnoticed.

Siti frowned, she did not enjoy having her cubs so far away when she was clearly in another's territory. She turned to her daughter, "Lilavati, come here," she whispered.

Lila popped up and looked at her mother frowning slightly. It seemed as though she need more practice stalking. She bounded over to her mother smiling happily, "What wrong mama?"

Siti shook her head, "I told you to stay with you papa. You are too adventurous and we are in another's territory. I was slightly more focused on your movement and I've wandered to far. Some else is here and they will not show themselves."

Lila looked around, she was lower to the ground than her mother was and she could see the grass moving. Dropping her voice like her mother, "Something moving in the grass mama," she said pointing.

Siti nodded and turned taking wide soft step in the direction Lila pointed. She was attempting to swipe up whatever hid in the grass and she preyed for her sake it wasnt a poisoness snake.

Ears perked up as the hiding cub listened to the voices of the strangers. So, there was two of them....and one was a mother? This really caught Tap's interest, more than his lasting fear. He knew the word mother, and had a dim memory of his own that left him. But now? All he knew were lioness' with foul tempers. Where they all the same? This one didn't though, she sounded almost concerned for whatever young lion was following her.

Feeling impending danger if he remained hidden, Tap hesitated on a decision. Should he hide till the other caught sight of him and struck? Or show himself and hope the other wouldn't feel so predatory after seeing he was only a youth.

Sighing nervously, Tap stood on his paws and lifted his head with nervous eyes, turning towards the duo. He was in plain sight now, and it seemed they had been heading in his direction anyway. "Y...you are in another's territory. It wouldn't be safe if you stayed and were spotted...."

Siti was startled slightly by the small voice and stopped her movements. She could feel Lila come forward and stand beneath her. She looked at the little cub and frowned slightly. He reminded her slightly of undo with his spots and it made her smile slightly.

"I'm sorry," she said, "Have I intruded on you den? I don't imagine your mother would be to happy to find me here when she came back."

Lila looked at the small cub and grinned a bit moving forward slight, only to be stalled by her mother paw pulling her back. "Why wouldn't we be safe huh? Most others lions I've met are very friendly. I bet your mama would want us to wait with you," she said contradicting her mother slightly.

Siti looked down at Lila and shook her head, "Not all predators on the savannah are friendly. You are simply use to the warm of the member of our pride. Its not like that everywhere."

Siti looked to the little one not really wanting to leave him all, "Are you okay little one?"

Ears fell back in natural caution as the older eyes fell on him. It was frightful, he admitted to himself, though he felt this was his safest option. Tap sent a nervous glance to his paws before braving to look the others face on. "No, this den is not my own. But the purple lioness will be very....unkind to find others here."

The his ears flew forward in surprise, finding the source of the second voice finally. It....it was another small lion like himself! Well, not as small, but still a youth. Tap had never seen another in his young life, and the sight caused him to feel more shock than fear now. They....they really shouldn't be here then. "She's not my mother though, and she doesn't like cubs..."

Brows quirked as he heard the question, and Tap tilted his head at the lioness. Was she talking to him directly? And it sounded like she expected an answer.....

"I'm okay, so long as we're not caught. Why.....you're not going to tell are you?" Was this a test? Maybe the other adults were watching right now, waiting for him to mess up! Dx;

Siti was confused at the cubs words and tired not to frown not wanting upset the cub. "If this is not your den, then where is your den and where is your mother?"

Siti ignored the cubs warning and lay down in the grass in front of the cub. She could hold her own against the other especially if this young cub was in any danger.

Lila frowned as well, "She doesn't like cubs. Why and if she doesnt like cubs than why are you here?"

Siti looked at Lila it was a good question, but before she could speak the little ones words caught her ears. "No I will not tell little one. I would not want to get you into trouble. You are safe."

Lila smiled and watched her mother's tail swish, "You know that means don't ya." Lila pounced on her mothers tails trying to capture it, climbing on her rear and occasionally clawing her accidently. Lila turned to the cub and grinned, "Means we can play. I'm Lilavati by the way. You can call my Lila."

Siti took it all in stride smiling at her playful daughter. After Lila introduced herself she turned and did the same, "I am Nabila Siti. You may call me Siti. What is your name?"

The boy looked down before giving a short shrug. He wasn't sure where his den was in this large savannah, to be honest. "Mother left me and the den. I don't know where either are now." His ears pinned though as the lioness relaxed before him in the grass almost carelessly. Was she crazy?! That would only make her all the more helpless if the pride returned....

Light eyes turned slowly though to the other 'cub' as she gave him a question. "I...I don't know why. She's just a grum...." He held his tongue though and looked around. No need to speak trouble if ears could hear him. Shaking his head, he continued. "She just doesn't. And I'm here because the Doal brought me. He's....the boss, I suppose...."

Hearing the adult lioness make a promise not to tell caused the cub to sigh and sniffle. He was so grateful for the others patience and kindness, it almost made his eyes water to the strange encounter.

Curious and hesitant, Tap watched as the cub crawled all over her own mother before speaking to him. And her proposal made the boy gasp quietly. "No no, we can't be caught doing that! Who knows what will happen...." Then he bit his lip as they announced their names and waited for his own. "Mine? They call me Tap." He only now realized how...bland it was compared to the others though. They sounded better. ;~;

Siti sighed shaking her head at the cubs words, "I lost my mother when I was young too. There was a storm and we were separated."

Lila looked at her mom and was about to correct her on the fact that her mommy had died in the storm, but the cub chose that moment to answer her question. Lila giggle realising the cubs was about to call his caretaker a silly name. She did not notice he sigh or that he seemed ready to cry.

Siti did notice but before she could comfort him he was exclaimed to Lila that they should not play. Was he not allowed to play. Surely no one would deny a cub time to play.

Lila turned from her escapade and frowed, "why not? How else would I keep from being bored. Mama says play is good for learning to hunt, track and stalk." Lila jumped down and sat beside her mother as the cub gave his name.

Siti smiled gently, "Tap is a very cute name for a very cute cub." Siti looked to Lila who grinned and nodded.

"Yup Tap is real nice," she said before pounce on the cub lightly and rolling away. "And they are wrong. All cubs gotta play sometime."

Siti watched Lila warily hoping she would frighten the little one, but thinking it better not to intervene.

Tap glanced up and down at the adult lioness. It must have been a long time since she'd seen her own mother.

Curious ears turned back to the other cub but he frowned as he spoke back. "You'd rather be bored than disciplined here. And I already get to practice those things when they let me. Not so much hunting though....I can't keep up with shorter legs." Though none of those things he'd call 'play', they were all indeed very serious.

His pale fur colored slightly at their polite words. It was an odd feeling, and he felt shy at not knowing how to react to it. "T...thanks, mother did call me that." Then he squeaked as the younger girl just....just leapt at him! What was she doing! Tap's tail tucked as he squirmed away from the pounce and sat back with ears pulled back and eyes wide in confusion.

"Y...you didn't bite? Then what was that?!" He didn't even feel a scratch on him. Was that play?

Siti thought on the cubs words about discipline and frowned. Cubs shouldn't be disciplined unless they got out of hand or did something dangerous. Siti knew when she got Lila home it would be a grounding to the den for disobeying her mothers order and she was certain Lila knew it too. She said nothing on the cubs words at first but smiled when he thanked her for the compliment she had given him.

"It is a very true statement and I am sure she loved you very much."

Siti was poised to jump in seeing the cubs reaction to the pounce. Her body was slightly tense, but she waited to see what Lila would do.

Lila frowned at the cubs reaction and back away toward her mother, "Of course I didn't bite. I wasn't trying to hurt you. I was just playing. I'm sorry I scared you though, guess I should have warned you."

Lila sat before her mother smiling at the cub. She could feel her mother give her a nuzzle and grinned. "Momma says biting and scratching is for prey, but nibbling and batting works best when you play."

Siti smiled hearing her cubs words and looked to Tap. She pulled Lila closer and cuddled her before motioning for Tap to come over. "How about I tell you two a story? How does that sound? A story and a cuddle always helps to calm frazzled feelings."

The male peered up past his lock of fur at the adult, before sliding his eyes elsewhere. Whether his mother loved him or not as something he doubted he'd ever know. Let alone understand. Leaving his back straight, the boy whispered out a sigh as Lila paused in her odd antics.

"Well....thank you for not biting then. I'm glad." And he showed his honesty with a twitching smile, before it fell back into a cautious line. So playing involved...no claws, and no fangs. Sounded harmless enough, though he doubted he could ever try playing with his current pride members.

Ears flitted down as he noticed Lila retreat to her mother, and for a moment he was afraid that he had insulted her. But the mother looked back to him, and Tap turned his gaze so not to look like he was snooping, even as she spoke to him. Though her words confused him, and he couldn't help but raise a brow at the adult.

"A story? You have.....stories?" He'd never heard any of those before, except the cocky tales that his pride had to share with each other. But those were all boring and the same, only told to outdo another lion. Maybe these stories would be different? Better.

Standing from his spot, Tap took slow and hesitant step towards the duo. "I....I'd like that." Then his tail tucked instinctively; he was never used to approaching an adult lion head on. "Please?"

Lila giggled when her mother nuzzled her and was happy to see Tap take interest in a story.

"Mama, has lots of stories. So many that I haven't even heard all of them. A lot of them are really funny too. I love her stories."

Siti smiled at Lila's answer to Taps question. "Today I will tell you the story of Almaziti the elephant. She was a young elephant but very brave and extremely friendly. What do you think? Would you like to hear a story about her?"

Siti reached out toward Tap, gently grabbing him and attempting to pull him to her. She did so very slowly and gently, trying not to scare him or make him run.
