NO POSTING PLEASE!

Ever since I was a little girl I've had a dream of being together with pokemon. Not in the way of my parents, who hunt them, but as a companion. At first I wanted to travel the world with one by my side, as I grew older that dream changed into wanting to train the ultimate team and take on the elite four, and a few years after that I entertained the idea of breeding pokemon. Well, I knew it was only a dream, as long as I lived with my parents I would never be allowed to own a pokemon, only hunt them, which I refused to take part in despite their continuous punishments and pressure to join in the family business.

On the night of my sixteenth birthday, after another huge argument with my parents over my refusal to join their cruel business, I was sitting on the window sill in my bedroom gazing out at the forest beyond our property and listening to the calls of Hoot-Hoots and other nocturnal pokemon. That's when I saw it, a strange glowing shape floating at the edge of the forest. It seemed to be coming towards the house and I knew it had to be some sort of pokemon.

Quietly I slipped out of the window and crossed the field from our house to the forest. The closer I got the lower to the ground the shape seemed to get and soon I was standing only about fifteen feet away from one of the most sought-after legendary pokemon. Jirachi. The little pokemon was looking at me curiously and soon I heard it's voice in my mind "Hello."
I could only stare at the beautiful creature in front of me, I was tempted to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming but then it floated closer and tilted it's head at me "Are you alright?" I nodded and the Jirachi giggled "Don't look so shocked. I came because you wanted me too, isn't that right?" Suddenly I remembered what I had wished for as I blew out the candles on my cake earlier that evening -I wish I could find a way to make my dream come true- and once more I nodded. After a few moments I managed to find my voice "Wow! A real live Jirachi! This is unbelievable!" the Jirachi just smiled at me "You wanted to make your dream come true right? I can help you."
It was my turn to be curious, of course I'd heard the legends about Jirachi granting wishes but could a pokemon really have that kind of power? "You can help me get away from my home and start my adventure with pokemon?" I asked and the Jirachi giggled again and nodded "Of course I can silly, that's what I do, grant wishes." I smiled then, unable to believe my luck "I wish that I could find a pokemon companion." I said and the Jirachi closed it's eyes and when it opened them it smiled "Come back here tomorrow morning, but don't forget to bring your things, you won't be returning. I must go now, but don't forget me." I frowned I didn't want the Jirachi to leave so soon "Can't you stay? I'll take care of you." I pleaded but the Jirachi shook it's head and turned to float back into the trees "I'll see you again someday." it said and then dissapeared into the dark shadows of the forest. Turning I headed back to the house both happy and disappointed, if Jirachi was telling the truth when I returned to the spot in the morning I would be off on the start of an adventure, but still, I wished that the Jirachi could have stayed. As I snuck back into my bedroom and got ready for bed I couldn't stop thinking about the mysterious encounter with Jirachi.

At some point in the night I fell asleep and when I awoke the sun was already up. I jumped out of bed and rushed around my room getting dressed and gathering up everything I would need: sleeping bag, change of clothes, journal, pen, knife, compass, rope, matches, water bottle and a few other necessities and then I was sneaking downstairs, luckily my parents had already left, I made a quick breakfast, threw some extra food in my bag and set out through the field to the spot where I had seen the Jirachi.

As I drew nearer to the location I heard the sounds of a pokemon in distress and I picked up the pace until I was sprinting across the uneven ground, stumbling a few times I managed to reach the tree line and what I saw was very upsetting. There in the middle of the trees was a horribly battered raichu who was doing her best to fight off a pack of wild houndour. I ran forward, waving my arms and yelling at the canines until they backed off and finally fled into the woods then I turned my attention back to the raichu. She seemed to be favoring one of her front paws and as I got closer her cheeks sparked with electricity and she made it clear that if I came closer she would not hesitate to attack.

Instead of pushing my luck I sat down and after rummaging through my pack I pulled out a few berries that I knew helped pokemon recover their energy and strength and I rolled them towards the raichu one at a time. At first she only sniffed at the berries and then she slowly started towards them keeping her eyes on me the whole time. After she'd consumed those berries I grabbed a few more and rolled them out to her but not as far as last time, slowly luring her closer to me.

After repeating this process once more the raichu was only four feet away from me and she was now staring at me curiously. Slowly I extended my hand towards her, a pecha berry in my palm. The raichu wavered for a few moments before cautiously coming forward and picking up the berry then nibbling on it. When she finished I smiled "There now, I'm not so bad am I?" I asked her and recieved a "Raii." in response before the little raichu stepped up onto my lap and nudged my cheek with her nose. I giggled when her whiskers tickled me and after petting her for a little while I rose to my feet with her in my arms and started walking down the path through the trees.

As the sun went down I noted that I had made a lot of progress already, the raichu and I had made it through the forest and were now looking down on Saffron City. With just a little bit of daylight left I picked up the pace and as the last rays of light dissapeared on the horizon the raichu and I reached the pokemon center.

As I entered I was immediately greeted by Nurse Joy. "Can you help her? I found her in the forest, she was being attacked by a pack of houndour." I explained as the nurse looked over my new companion. "Put her in her ball and I'll see what I can do." Joy replied and I shook my head "I can't... I don't have a ball for her, I didn't catch her, she decided to come with me." The nurse's eyes widened "You brought a wild pokemon to a pokecenter? Look miss, you need to get that pokemon in a pokeball before I can help you. Next door is the pokemart, go see them and then come back." I glared at her "Fine, some nurse you are, won't even help a pokemon in need just because she's wild." with that I turned and headed out the door, the raichu still in my arms.

As I entered the next-door pokemart I was greeted by a friendly "Hello." and I smiled, walking over to the pokeball aisle I pondered over which kind to get, there were so many and I didn't know what kind a raichu should be contained in. After a few moments of debate I grabbed a great ball and headed for the counter. "Will this be all for you today miss?" the lady behind the counter asked as she rang up my purchase. I nodded and paid the woman "Thank you." I said before heading back outside.

I set the tired raichu down and pressed the button on the great ball to make it larger. The raichu stared at me with uncertainty in her eyes. "I need you to get inside the ball or they won't take care of you." I said, pleading for the little pokemon to understand me. I set the ball on the ground carefully and the little raichu came closer, sniffed at it and finally touched the circle with her nose, being drawn into the ball in a beam of red light.

Once the ball had shrunk down again I picked up the ball and walked back inside the pokecenter. "Will you heal her now?" I asked the nurse who was standing behind the counter. As she spied the great ball in my hand she nodded, took the ball and hurried into the back room to begin working on the raichu. I wandered over to the seating area and sprawled out on the couch. As I lay there it occured to me that the raichu was now my pokemon. I began to ponder over names and finally settled on Amaryllis. A beautiful name for a beautiful pokemon.

At some point I fell asleep and when I awoke Nurse Joy was standing next to me with my great ball in her hands. "How is she?" I asked and Joy smiled "She's just fine all she needed was a little rest and some burn heal." Happily I took the great ball and thanked the nurse before heading back outside.

I released the raichu from her ball and she really did look a lot better. "Well hi there, you look great." "Raichuu." she replied and I smiled "So... since you're travelling with me now... how bout I call you Amaryllis?" I asked and the raichu responded "Rai raichuu!". I assumed that meant she liked the name and after clipping the ball to my belt we set off for the nearest airport. I'd heard of a place called Zatao and it sounded like a perfect place to start my adventure.
