The UnderGaia Guild Rules
These rules are in effect.
These rules are in effect.
The Higher Offenses:
Only the first offenses receive warnings, following that will come temporary bans. If the offender is unable to change their behavior after multiple bans they will be perma-banned.
If you see any of these offenses, report them to the moderators via PM.
- - No Profanity or slurs, ethnic references, cultural slurs, or religious or gender harrasment except where "appropriate" in RP terms ie. female drow are supposed to treat male drow harshly. First offenses receive warnings, following that will come temporary bans.
- - No Out of Character flaming. RP insulting must be kept thoughtful and not personal to a member. Remember that there are people behind each avatar, and they don't necessarily have any likeness to the character they protray.
- - No Spaming or Trolling! The UGCB is built for your chatterbox pleasure, but spamming threads there is just as heavily frowned upon. For this offense, this is your warning. Purposefully disrupting an RP in the RP forums will result in temp-bans and if acted upon again a perma-ban.
- - Do not harrass members! This includes in the guild or via PM. Also, if someone asks that you 'mind your own business', respect their wishes. Chances are whatever dispute it is being waged can and will be settled by those involved.
The Lower Offenses:
Multiple warnings will be issued for these offenses. They are not as serious, and easily corrected. If these offenses are repeated, your post will be edited or deleted. Thread owners/users who wish to have a post removed/edited will need to visit the Forum Upkeep thread.
- - You will be expected to keep within these denominations of the thread while participating in it. To clarify, each thread has been labelled with [IC] "In Character"; [OOC] "Out Of Character"; or [SIC] "Sometimes In Character". New threads should be designated by the thread owner.
- - Watch your mouth. Some people find certain words offensive, and while we aren't going to specify certain words you should be mindful of, try to gauge yourself and ACCEPT when people ask you to tone it down. Considering others is the easiest way to cut down in guild-drama.
- - Do not hijack threads. Not only is it annoying, but there's more than likely a place for your to post that already (Such as the Dark Grotto Cafe). Everyone is encouraged to remind their fellow UnderGaians that they should get back on topic. One non-confrontational way is to simply post one of the following images. Feel free to make your own: [x] [x]
- - Rules for games in the RP forum are set by the thread owner. If a thread owner in these forums has issue with a post or poster, or would like action to be taken about an infraction concerning those rules the thread owner should bring it to the attention of the moderators. This refers to God Moding or other such offenses which are not considered 'spam'.
Helpful Guidelines:
- - Try to avoid repeat topics. There's still a lot in the UnderGaia to discuss, but if what you have to say applies to another thread already out there, please just reply to that first thread.
- - Put your thread in the right Sub-Forum! For the most part, this isn't hard. The sub-forums are fairly clearly marked. The main forum is NOT the chatterbox. To post in the main thread you must confront a captain first.
- - Read the thread before butting in with your own thoughts. There is no reason for you not to be informed about what is happening in a thread if you plan to put yourself into it. 'Long threads' (exceeding 20 pages) are exceptions, but that doesn't mean you should not try your best to do so.
- - Try your best to use proper English (Or any of the other languages spoken by the members- though it is considered rude to carry a conversation in a tongue not everyone understands.) Not only does well used spelling and grammar get you respect, but it helps others figure out exactly what it is you're trying to say.
- - Be courteous to your fellow UnderGaians. Everyone deserves some respect. This is technically a repeat rule from before, about the flaming and such, meant to trick the eye. If you have read the rules select the second poll option. We're all here to have fun, there's no need to ruin it for anyone else.
- - Take some time to calm down if you get upset. It's hard to consider things objectively when they are fresh on your mind. If you're feeling annoyed, it might just be best to give the situation a night to cool off.

GENERAL FAQ
Frequently asked questions here in UG
Frequently asked questions here in UG
Q: What is UnderGaia?
A: UnderGaia is a community based on Dungeons and Dragons' dark elves, the Drow, created by the celebrated Gary Gygax.
Q: I'm new here. Where should I start?
A: Your best bet is introducing yourself in the "introductions" thread on the main forum. After you do that we suggest you go get to know everyone in the chatterbox. If you're here for Roleplay, the Dark Grotto Cafe is an appropriate place to test things out while you mingle. If you are interested in more serious roleplay, you must post a character profile in the "Portfolios of Villainous Proportions" forum and PM a captain to have it approved. There are leaders for every faction. The current active factions are Ulorbbath and Au Shinduago. Quenthal is the leader of the first, and I am handling affairs out of character for the second.
Q: Do you have any recommended reading? This is a lot to digest.
A: Of course. There are many sources online, but sometimes it helps to learn through storytelling. The most influential and informative books on Drow are probably going to be the Dark Elf Trilogy, by RA Salvatore and the War of the SpiderQueen set by Richard Lee Byers & company.
Q: Why don't you use the traditional drow cities like Menzoberranzan and Ched Nasad?
A: We want to give our players an opportunity for creativity. Having our own cities allows us to do this freely without the inhibitions of past storytelling in novels and lore.
Q: Can I play as Drizzt?
A: Absolutely not. Drizzt is a sissy.
Q: I want my own faction. How can I do this?
A: Factions leaders, for the most part, are chosen. As a faction leader, you are essentially a moderator of your own forum; thus, you have to prove to me that you are willing to make that commitment as a figurehead in the Undergaia team. The ideal faction leader is responsible, has been a member long enough to know the ropes, and mature enough to govern respective situations accordingly. To become a faction leader you must consult with a captain and they will instruct you on how best to go about creating your own.
