On the edge of the forest, a little yellow faun was prancing and skipping happily, with her red haired pig-tails bouncing along with her. Calais could not actually go into the forest since Trager wasn't watching her, so she went as close as she could without actually being in it. She was singing random notes, "La la la la!" as she made her way along, enjoying the clippity clop as her hooves hit the ground. She stopped prancing when a bright red butterfly crossed her path and Calais quickly began to follow it. "Butter, butter, butter!" she giggled as she reached her small, white hands out for it, the butterfly remained safely out of her clutches though. "C'mere butter!" she called out to it.

Kieran had decided to ditch the beach today in favor of the forest. All kinds of neat stuff lived in the forest, right? And so he makes his way there now, whacking low-hanging leaves with his stick and singing. "Ohhhh I like snakes, they're really neat, and frogs and spiders in my hair..."
He's so engrossed in his own little world that he doesn't see or hear the golden-yellow faun girl until it's too late to hide. "Kyaa!" he exclaims, startled. He brandishes his stick like a sword. "Who're you?" he demands.

Calais let go of a high pitched scream when the other faun boy shouted at her and she brandished her arms in front of her to protect herself from the stick. "C-c-c-c-c-c-cal-a-is" she quivered out fearing that if she did not answer him, he might stab her with her stick. Her eyes watched as the butterfly got away and she made a sad face. "My butter got 'way..." she sighed.

Kieran pauses and lowers his stick. "Your what?" he asks, eyebrows furrowed.
"Hey!" he exclaims suddenly. "You look like me! We have the same feet and the same branchy things an' everything!" He bounces excitedly, his hoof-feet clopping against the ground. "Do you have a 'Lizabeth too?"

Calais giggled when he pointed out all their common features. She danced on her hooves and flicked her branches with her fingers "Hehe, yeah!" She didn't know what a 'Lizabeth was though. Calais turned around several times as if trying to chase her tail, looking over her shoulder. "Uhm... I don't tink so... maybe only boys have 'Lizabeth's cause you are a boy" she decided when she was convinced she did not have a 'Lizabeth.

"Hm. That's too bad. A 'Lizabeth is the nice lady who takes care of me and makes sure I don't hurt myself. An' she cooks me yummy food an' sometimes even reads me a story before I go to bed!"
Kieran nods sagely. "Maybe only boys have a 'Lizabeth. An' you don't cause you're a girl."
Wait a minute.
"YOU'RE A GIRL?!"
Kieran runs around in circles, hollering and rubbing his hands on his stomach. "You've got COOTIES!"

"Oh, I has one. I call her a ma-me" Calais informed him, because the description did seem to match her Trager very well. Calais winced and looked down sadly when he screamed that she was a girl. He couldn't tell? She had made her pigtails look all pretty and everything... well Trager had. Calais tilted her head, "Cooties?" she set a hand on him trying to get him to sit still so that he could hear her. "Whad are cooties?" She poked him with her fingers several times.

"Ew! Stop touching meee!" squeaks Kieran, flailing. "Cooties are little spots that boys get from girls touchin' 'em. Makes 'em turn all girly and pretty and playin' dress-up and havin' tea parties 'steada huntin' frogs an' tyin' worms in knots."
"An' I don't know how to get ridda them!" he wails.

Calais was still confused about all this cooties business, what was so wrong with being girly. "You don't want to be purtiful like me?" She asked him as she fluffed her hair with a toss of her hand. She didn't like how mean this nasty boy was being though, "Ewwww, wormies are gross" she told him with a disgusted face that was all scrunched up. "Whoda want to be a boy?" She shook her head "You already has cooties anyways" she said poking at his spots.

"Those aren't cooties, you dummy!" he exclaims. "Those're my regular spots! 'Lizabeth says they're camo-flaj, whatever that means. And worms are NOT gross! They're super cool!" Kieran crosses his arms over his chest self-righteously, making a 'hmph' noise.
"Didja know that they eat dirt and then make more of it?" he asks excitedly, unable to contain his enthusiasm for garden creatures.

"Looks like cooties ta me..." she taunted him with a happy smile even though she didn't like that he called her a dummy. "Thatsa not nice word..." she whined. Worms were still gross to her and his little fact didn't help at all, "That's their poopies, you dummy." Calais fired back even though she didn't know what it really was, but surely if they ate dirt, poopies would come out the other end and dirt and poopies looked a lot alike.

"I know!" exclaims Kieran gleefully. "Isn't that SO COOL? They make MORE DIRT that way!" And more dirt was always a good thing, he notes to himself.
"'Cept for 'Lizabeth doesn't like it when I get all dirty. She likes it better when I play in the sand, 'cause it brushes off easier. D'you think there are sand worms that eat sand and poop more of it?" he wonders aloud.

"But that's gross, I don't want get poopies stuck in my hooves," Calais already had to clean the dirt out quite often because she loved to walk through the forests. Calais blinked her eyes at the strange boy talking about pooping sand worms. "I don't like the sand, it is hard to walk through" she remembered her one trip with Trager to the beach, blech.

"Yeah, the sand is kinda hard to walk through, but if you walk down by the water it's easier to walk on, plus the water is fun to play in too," says Kieran, nodding. He has seemed to forget about their previous argument, and the cooties.

Calais hadn't gotten the chance to go near the ocean, "Trager wouldn't lemme play in water, but um she started be funny." Calais was remembering at the luau when Trager had a bit too much to drink, but Calais didn't know what had been going on. "Cooties all better now?" Calais asked, smiling at him. He wasn't being mean and gross now, so maybe he had been cured.
