User ImageTambuzi found today to be quite perfect for just lounging about and having a good chill out session. It was warm and bright, but with that ever present breeze sweeping in from the sea, it never felt stifling. Still, with a pelt as dark as his, it would be silly to sit out in direct sunlight all day.

So after his brief sunbathing session, he took refuge behind some of the boulders spotted along the beach near Leporogo. In theory, they say a leader's work is never done, and so he should be chipping in to help his daughter. But as soon as he laid down in the shade, and started to listen to the natural 'music' of the waves, the sea, the birds, the breeze...well, who would blame him for wanting to chill out just that bit longer?

User Image And Tamba wasn't the only lion lounging on the beach to enjoy the warm weather in the least! It seemed that Leboya, having been freed from her duties of watching over her grandchildren by her daughter, which had freed up her paws. What did Leboya decide to do with this newfound freetime?

Just sit in the sand of the shore and let the water lap up over her. Mmm, it was just sunny enough out that it was worth basking while she had the ocean there to help her out and cool her off.

However, it seemed her 'basking in the sun' was to be enjoyed with company, noticing movement out of the corner of her eyes, turning her head to watch the familiar form of the blue lion as he found his solace in the shade.

"It is quite nice, isn't it?"

How he had failed to notice the 'bathing beauty' was beyond him, and Leboya's voice cut through his daze and even startled him slightly. He looked bashfully back at her, wondering how much of his little jump she'd seen. Despite being a father, and one day a grandfather, he still had a lot of boyish qualities and charm about him.

"Indeed, quite the nice day. The sun appears to be blessing us today as well as the sea. Can't ask for anything more sublime really," he said from his little shade hidey-hole. As much as he enjoyed Leboya's company, he was reluctant to leave the coolness of the shade at the moment.

Well, just because one had grandchildren or children didn't mean they couldn't be 'young at heart'. It was almost the opposite, just watching them run around made her feel so much younger. They had that way of rubbing off. At least in her opinion. Perhaps to another it would make them feel as though they had aged beyond their prime.

She could certainly see how that could be.

But it seemed, fortunately for Tamba, Leboya was more inclined to move for her company, rising out of the sand (and not even bothering to brush it off of her side) to move into the shade to lounge with the darker furred lion, dropping back into the sand casually. "Ah, very true. It is so very much a pleasant day all around. There's just something about the company of the ocean that I couldn't find anywhere else."

This amused her -- to leave and come back to the very same place she'd started off from. "Perhaps it was just karma telling me where I was supposed to be."

Tamba watched as Leboya got up and joined him, guilt beginning to n** at his neck. He should have just gone to sit by her side instead. If he got too warm, the sea would have saw to it that he was cooled down promptly.

He shuffled across a little to allow her plenty of room to relax. An involuntary act of thoughtfulness.

"Oh I'm definitely a believer in karma, and that sense of belonging," he agreed with a great nod of his shaggy-furred head. For just the briefest of moments, his mind settled on the darker side of karma and how it had lost him a daughter. And how it must foreshadow further losses.

But one glance to the pleasant company by his side and out to the gloriously sparkling sea lifted him once more.

"There is just something that tends to keep lions coming here and staying here. I imagine it is the sea herself, casting her spells, although I also hope its because we're a friendly lot around here," he chuckled.

Leboya chuckled a bit. Mmmyes. She could agree to that notion as well. "Well, no matter what, I don't blame anybody. There's nothing quite as soothing as the ocean is." Certainly there WERE other things that could be soothing, just not in the same way the ocean could be. Alas, she was a little bit lovestruck by that silly silly little ocean.

Not that she could help it. Well, she HAD tried to help it for quite some time, but at that point there was indeed nothing she could do about it. She certainly had no intentions of leaving again. WHICH MEANT TAMBA WAS TRAPPED WITH HER FOREVER, MWA HA HA HA HA!!!

Though she was sure he had no complaints about another pair of eyes about the pride.

"Perhaps they stay because the king is so =dashingly= handsome." she teased (hey, even the oldies had to be silly now and then), stretching her front legs out in the sand in front of her, as though she was kneading the beach, before laying her head down on them.

Hmm.

"Certainly are a lot more little paws around here than there were last time I was here.."

Oh dear...was Tamba blushing? He was laughing as well but was he blushing for a moment or two there? Hmm, would Leboya notice was the next thing that crossed his mind. Eyes lingering on her a little longer than was polite, he switched to the new topic.

"Indeed, a lot more little mouths to feed, to teach, and to keep entertained," he laughed. "Reminds me of the days when I used to tell stories to my brood. I didn't have so many about this place, but I did about the open plains and the rest of this world. I'm surprised none of them wanted to wander off and explore sooner."

Leboya seemed to frown at the mention of wandering. "One of mine did wander, unfortunately. Lesedi was so small and between her and her sisters, I somehow allowed her to get out of my sight long enough to lose her.."

The lioness didn't seem to pleased as she recalled the full event. "It seems somewhere, I faltered in raising my children without their father..." she bit back the added 'again', before shaking her head. "It's as much as I can do to make sure that Lesedi does better than I did."

Which perhaps the child HAD been doing, if Lebby's opinion was worth anything. There were more little paws to care for in that little litter than she'd ever had to handle in one go.

By herself. But.. that was something else.

"It's good to see those here who can lend a paw as well. It makes this place feel a lot more like a home then the last time I was here. Better for my grandchildren. I wonder if Marty would have liked being here.... if it would have made her happy.."

Tamba frowned a little and then his expression turned very sober but also very soft for Lebby. To speak of failing their children, it just brought back uncomfortable thoughts of his daughter Siyasura.

"Children are a funny thing...so delicate, so fragile, always tip-toeing on that fine line between 'success' and 'failure'. Sometimes a parent can always feel like they've failed their children, and for whatever reason...but I find it hard to believe that you've failed yours Leboya," he began, paused a little, then finished with a warm thought.

"Lesedi is certainly a lovely young lioness, and that brood is growing up so very well. How can you say you've failed?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 15, 2010 12:17 pm

It was simply Lesedi's brood that was the reason why...and yet, Leboya seemed to hesitate a moment before she answered him; "Lesedi is fearful of many things. I lost her when she was a cub; I allowed her to trail from my sight and only in these recent months did we actually find each other again. She's horribly scarred from that experience, I fear.

Yet I feel she's doing well for Martirae's children. Better than their own mother would have done for them... but that too is my fault. My poor daughter, she grew up to be so angry." the lioness sighed. She certainly had made a bit of a mess of things, and she would have enjoyed, to some great extent, if the lioness had joined her in returning to this home...

yet part of her feared that it would have been better for Martirae to figure out what it was she was doing on her own... hopefully she was being constructive about her doubts.

"Perhaps what I fear is that I have not been able to hold onto my young ones as they're now going out into the world as their own fully-grown and capable selves. It could be that I'm just growing doubtful in my solitude."
