The new Yami Yakuza global ranking system is up. This ranking system will be used for every Yami Yakuza faction. Below this post is a list of members and the ranks. And below that explains the basics on how this system works.

Here I shall explain some of rules and terminology that is now in place.

For one, these rules, promotion requirements, and tattoo/pearling rewards are very VERY relative. What I mean is, even though this system is posted here, it will be used in every Yami Yakuza faction. However, every online community, whether it be an online game or a website for forums, is different. So this system is more of a base for the faction leaders to work off of. An example would be between this faction and the one on Maple Story. The amount of guild members gaia can have is limitless. The number of members a guild can have on maple story however is much much more limited. Our current faction on maple story can only support 35 members, and that is fairly good too. That would be a situation were the faction leader of the Maple Story faction would need to change the promotion requirements for recruiting. I have made it very easy to keep it the way it is so it can be used almost everywhere, but even I can't plan for everything. So if a faction leader wants to change one of the promotion requirements, they are welcome to. However, it has to be run through me first.

Next off, I am going to repeat that if anyone is unsatisfied with their rank, they need only to send me or one of the vice captains a message. We will all do our best to sort the problem out.

I feel it is also necessary to repeat that if anyone changes their user name (this same rule applies for every faction) that they need to notify either me or a vice captain so that the list can be updated.

Now to the terminology, don't worry, this part is easy.

A pearling is basically a notable favor that you have done for a lower ranking member. If you help out someone below you, even if it is outside the guild. You can ask them to tell me about it, and a pearling will be awarded.

A tattoo is awarded for helping out a higher ranking member then you. Same thing as a pearling, you can ask them to tell me about it and I will give out tattoo's as a reward. Once you get enough tattoo, you are awarded a body tattoo. With that, comes a monetary reward or an item of the same price.

Now the bad part. If you do something that violates the rules, you will have a fingertip removed. Once five fingertips are removed, the moderators will discuss and vote on your banning. You can gain a fingertip back in place of getting a tattoo, however that particular action must be run through me. A higher ranking member above you can volunteer to have his finger removed in place of yours if he or she pleases.

Please note, that I intend on check this page often. I have records on my computer about what was posted here. And a thorough investigation will take place if the information doesn't sync up. If you tamper with any of these posts and are caught, even as a joke you will be banned. No questions, no voting, no return.

If anyone feels that something is wrong with any of this or has a question, please contact me. This system is pretty much still in beta, so I am always looking for suggestions.

Now then, for those of you who care, I will post below this the history the the terminology that I have used above.

A pearling, to put it simply, was done after a member of the Yakuza was put into prison. Every year they spent there, they would put a pearl under the skin of their private area. (Darn gaia and the TOS)

Many Yakuza members had tattoo's called irezumi. They were hand poked with either bamboo or steel pokers. They were very painful and took many years to finish. Rarely would they show their tattoo's to anyone.

Finger cutting, or yubitsume, was a form of penance or apology. Upon a first offense, the person must cut off the tip of his left little finger and hand the severed portion to his boss. Sometimes an under boss may do this in penance to the oyabun if he wants to spare a member of his own gang from further retaliation. Its origin stems from the traditional way of holding a Japanese sword. The bottom three fingers of each hand are used to grip the sword tightly, with the thumb and index fingers slightly loose. The removal of digits starting with the little finger moving up the hand to the index finger progressively weakens a person's sword grip. The idea is that a person with a weak sword grip then has to rely more on the group for protection, reducing individual action.
