you know what would be fun, and thoughtful if we did a group letter telling hoshin-san that we know all the problems have been hard on her and us as the fans and even though all this has happened we still love DGM and will stick with it till the end, what do you guys think, first who knows japanese and maybe we could make somethings too to send to her, what do you guys think

I think that would be fun- However; I don't think anyone in the guild is Fluent enough in Japanese to write it;
We could use a translator- But I'm not sure if that would work properly

I know a translator who translates Japanese manga into English, so he should be able to work in reverse. I'd have to ask him if he'd be willing. :3 It shouldn't be too entirely long though for the sake of both the translator and Hoshina-san.
--Edit--
I just talked to him about it. He said he'd be happy to try depending on how difficult the letter will be. C:

>w>....that sounds cool...
But I don't know how many people will pay attention to this thread, a lot of people just go to the common room.
If you've got an idea that would include/affect the rest of the Guild, I'd really like you to run it by me.
As Captain, people listen to me and I can promote things, and get everyone involved. Your idea is something that the whole Guild would participate in, so if you could come to me with your ideas, it would benefit everyone.
It is a really good idea though, so I'll think of ways to make this better and more possible.

@Sil: O: Sweet, I'll keep that in mind.

Does she even have something posted somewhere where it has an address to send things to...?
Sil- Awesome! If hes willing that would defiantly help out alot.
The only problem is what to write...

Sorry to burst the happy bubble here but what makes you think Hoshino will even read it? She undoubtedly gets quite a bit of mail from fans and other people it would be lost in there and never read. The letter wont even do anything for her besides just add to her amount fan mail.
And it's not like she really cares if you tell her you'll stick with it to the end, she knows people will buy the manga books and she will get money. All you're doing is saying "We will keep buying/reading your stuff even if it's crap." she may say she's touched if it's ever read but that's because over there they are unable to be impolite and such.
Nice idea yes, but it's pointless to do. Even if you do get it written who's going to send and pay for it? Assuming you ever get her address to send it or someone that will bother giving it to her.
In the end it really boils down to a self serving purpose, because you want to say/think "Oh I/We made a difference to her!" when in reality you did nothing but waste a tree and both yours and other peoples time.
Again sorry for bursting the happy bubble, go ahead and rage or what ever at me just putting my thoughts in.

That does have an excellent point, but it still wouldn't hurt too much to try and send one anyhow. A guy at my school e-mails an author a few times, and he responds, so why not?

It might not get read but it doesn't hurt anyone to imagine. Plus it would make us, as the fans, feel better. I think that the more fanmail she gets the happier she'll be. And while you may be correct about her getting a bunch of fanmail, there is also the possibility that she doesnt. That's probably unlikely but still..

I don't know about Manga-kas, but I know a lot of well published science-fiction authors and novelists, and they really love this kind of thing. Any feedback is appreciated and most of them read/respond to any mail they get.

Kanda; Most people are perfectly aware of that. It's the only way besides buying manga that we, as fans, can give support however. It doesn't hurt to try. C:
Even if our letter is just one more in a large pile of something unread, adding to the height of the pile is support to the author. Personally, I'd appreciate any fan mail I received. I don't think any of us really think she'll get to read it, but if she does then that's great as well! It's not like a letter takes a lot of effort.
However, finding an address to send it to will be amply more difficult. xD Much easier to do when it's an English speaking author.
