And a few hours later, she returned to the den, thoroughly disappointed. Nothing had changed in her time inside. Just the same old stuff, adults doing weird things and her sisters and brothers being too busy to play. Grumbling under her breath, Farrah perked her ears and looked around the den. Seeing no one at first, she wandered in and laid down just inside the den, peering out. It was oddly comforting, and confused her. Before, when she'd been trapped in the den, just sitting there was driving her insane. And now that she was free, she found herself sitting in the same spot anyway. What was the point of that? Was it merely the idea of freedom that made things more or less bearable?
Her relaxed face soon crinkled up and became solemn as the little cub began to ponder things she was far too young to be pondering. Like the ways of the world.

 "Hello there my precious little Farrah." Faiz's voice rumbled softly out of the darkness of the den as he padded up behind his daughter. He leaned down and nuzzled his baby-girl, a small smile on his face. He had awaken when she entered the den, having been taking a nap with Mzu at the time. He left his Beybanu still sound asleep to spend a little bit of time with the daughter he felt he had been kind of neglecting. He seemed like he hadn't spent much time with his little girls, period.
"What have you been up to today?" he asked, considering her with his sky-colored eyes.

Farrah jumped when she heard her father, and lifted her head from where it rested against her forelegs, smiling quietly at Faiz. "Hello, Father." She greeted quietly, sitting up from her position on the ground and shaking dust off her stomach, before settling her rump on the ground again. She sniffed, and caught the stronger scent of Mzu and Faiz. How she'd missed it before was beyond her; but she wasn't quite looking for them, was she? No, she'd only wanted a place to sit and think. Her ears perked a little as she watched him, smiling up at him with her mother's eyes.
"Nothing, really." She answered quietly, shrugging one shoulder and glancing outside. "I was with Mama Liua and my sisters, but I asked permission to return to the den for a while." She said idly, looking back at Faiz. "I wanted to think." Whether Faiz would be pleased or not, Farrah didn't know. It felt as though she spent little time with her father, but she didn't blame him for it. It wasn't neglectful of him; he was an important figure in the pride, and she was proud for her father. She had four Mamas to go to when she needed them, and had no need to call on Faiz more often then required. She wondered, briefly, if Mzuka had mentioned her concerns, before returning her attention to Faiz.
"And what have you been up to, Father?" She countered with a brilliant smile, tail sliding across the ground to and fro curiously.

Faiz smiled and gave her a brief lick to the top of her head. Ah, Farrah, his little thinker.
"Oh, nothing really. Keeping your Mama Mzu out of trouble," he rumbled, a soft chuckle in his voice as he spoke. He leaned back then, allowing her a little space as he settled down. He lounged comfortably, his head resting on his folded paws as he regarded his youngest cub.
"What were you thinking about?" He had no idea what had gone on between her and his Beybanu, only the knowledge that they had spent time together. If she had questions for him, she would need to ask. He wished he had more time for his cubs, his daughters included. He'd just have to make certain he made time for them more, now.

Farrah smiled a little at the lick, tilting her head up towards Faiz to listen to him as he spoke. Her ears perked up a little and she frowned; Mzu was in trouble? For what? Letting her out early? "What'd Mzu do?" She asked lightly, tilting her head in an attempt to be coy. She'd seen coyness get its way, and wondered if it'd be so easy to sway her father like that. ...Yes, she might've picked it up watching Mzu. ...No, she won't admit to it.
The next question made her blink and drop her act; she grinned quietly. "Everything." It was true. When Farrah's mind wandered it didn't focus in solely on one thing but many things at once. Her mind mingled between ideas, dismissing some and refining others. But she paused in her thinking, and looked at Faiz. "Did Mzuka tell you I wanted to talk to you?" She asked, tilting her head. It'd be easier going into this knowing if Mzuka had indeed fulfilled her promise, and just what she might've said.

Faiz chuckled and slipped down into a lying position, stretched out beside Farrah.
"Oh, nothing you should worry about," he replied with a soft smile. What had happened that caused Mzu's punishment was between him, Mzu, and Aali. He smiled at her, tilting his head a bit to look at her a bit better.
"No, she didn't. What did you want to talk to me about, sweetheart?" he asked, his eyes showing his curiosity. He couldn't help but wonder what she needed to talk about. He wasn't surprised that Mzu would forget to tell him something like that. She'd been rather distracted with other things. The vizier was glad to have a little bit of time in his "vacation" to talk to his daughter if she needed it.

She nodded a little, moving on when her concerns with Mzuka were laid to rest. It was an adult's-only trend, leaving cubs out of things that did not directly concern them. She considered, briefly, that her worries for her brother would be something like that, but put it out of her head. She would bring it to her father's mind whether he approved of it or not, for the sake of Ilyas.
"I am... concerned for my brothers, Father." She said after a minute, carefully considering her words. "Or... more specifically, I am concerned for Ilyas." She lifted her head, looking at him. "He..." She faltered, looking at her paws and sighing. She wanted to articulate it so she would sound older, and so it would come across in a way that he would understand what worried her so; she did not want Ilyas's self-confidence to suffer for the favoritism towards Zeki, however misplaced it may have been. "He is not sure of himself, Father." She said finally, lifting her head. "With Thabiti having been gifted to Zeki and Ilyas with no Banu of his own, he finds himself uncertain, and I worry for him." She worried for Zeki, too, and what so much responsibility might do to him, but Ilyas was the one who seemed suffering.

Faiz listened to his baby girl, his face passive as he nodded every so often in acknowledgment.
"It appears I need to have a talk with Ilyas. He needs to understand that it has nothing to do with favoritism. In the first part, it was a matter of opportunity. Your uncle knew that she would be better off under your mothers' guidances and among the rest of you cubs. It just so happened that Zeki was the one to be there to claim her," Faiz paused there to shake his head. Zeki needed to stand up for himself better against his brother, and Ilyas needed to grow out of this, quick. He could only see this getting worse.
It would not be good for his sons, or the pride.
He looked to Farrah and smiled a bit.
"I'm glad you told me about your concerns, Farrah, and to know that you care that much about your brothers. You'll be a good banu someday," he added and gave her a fond lick on her head.

"That hardly seems fair." She said before she could stop herself, wrinkling her nose. "Merely giving her to Zeki for being lucky enough to be there..." Her ears flattened against her head. Was that how she was to be given away, to the first lion who showed up once she was a big girl? She shook her head absently, shaking the thought away. Her father wouldn't be that negligent, would he? Her ears perked up when he spoke again, and she found it in her to smile despite the sombering thought that she wouldn't be in Faiz's harem forever. In fact, time was passing by quickly. Soon, she'd be too big for the harem.
"Thank you, Father." She said, closing her eyes and purring quietly in response to the lick. It felt nice to be praised, and such words made her feel warm inside.

Faiz sighed and shook his head.
"Farrah, sweetheart, you don't understand. When your brothers go out into the roguelands, that is exactly how it is going to be when they are attempting to bring a female back to the pride. In many cases, that is just how it is," he explained and gestured absently. That was how it had been when he was a young lion. He had gone out with his cousin and some of the other males his age, and 'Liua had certainly not been the first female the group had come across. But it had been first-come, and he had lost a couple to his pride-brothers. Not that he really minded, he came home with a much more precious gem than any of his fellows.
Sometimes it payed to wait.
"Sometimes it will not be so, especially not with you or your sisters. Especially with our daughters, females are traded or given to other pads. And I will promise you, I'm a very picky male," he added with a small wink. He couldn't imagine giving or trading any of his baby girls away, but he knew he would one day have to. He couldn't very well keep them, especially if they found someone whom they loved and who loved them back. Not saying he wouldn't be very critical of any interested male.

Farrah sighed a little as her father explained the coming of age her brothers would have to go through, though it wasn't in disagreement. It was in sadness. She didn't want her brothers to go galloping off into the unknown with no one to protect them! Though it was a ways off, in some ways, it seemed like it was closing in on her too quickly. And who knew how they would come back? They could be completely different lions by then! She didn't want to lose her Zeki and her Ilyas... She looked up at Faiz. "Was that how you brought Mama back?" She asked idly, wondering if Tuliua was his coming of age banu. Or was it Mzu? Mean ol' Mzu-butt.
She perked up a little at the mention of being given away, and grinned. "I trust you, Father." She said simply, ears flattening against her head. Being given away would be the happiest and saddest day of her life, she knew it, but she couldn't imagine anything better then to be given the opportunity to be as loved as her mothers were. "I only hope that I'm as lucky as Mama Liua and Mama Mzu." She said with a wide grin, tail flicking to and fro idly.
