The morning was young. The sky was glowing different colours of blue and pink and orange. Yet Terentia was just getting home. She lived in the mountains. Where she could be as close to the heavens as she could. In a cave where humans has once lived due to the many drawings. She made her way up the mountains path. She had heard of others living here but instead of disturbing them she kept to herself. She had respect for there home and did not want to intrude. Why was she returning so late. She was preying for guidence at a holy spot and fell asleep there. Her dreams brought her a vision. The moon grew a smile and shed a tear for her to catch. After that a rainbow appeared in a clear sky and stretched over the black of night. She never knew what her dreams meant but this one was clear in her mind. Something she could not shake off. She wondered whilst walking like a drone on the stone path. Little bits of snow starting to appear it looks like she was close to her home. She snapped out of it to concentrate on the land which was all below her. She loved the view from up here it was one of her favourite things. One she had only ever shown one person before. As not many have the need to come up here... she had ever crossed paths with anyone randomly. This was her special place for more than the view. For the memory that she kept closest to her. She heard something, she was shocked but she kept moving was it a raccoon? or was someone there?

Grencia had told her not to wander too far away from the herd territories, but she couldn't help it - it was summer now, and although that was coming to a close as autumn approaches, she wanted to experience this "snow" for herself before winter... After all, how could she adapt to something described as being 'cold and rather harsh' if she had never seen it up close for herself at least once?
Therefore, when everyone was asleep, save for the few guards on patrol, the young mare made her way down the mountain. Throwing back glances once in a while to make sure that she was not being followed, Brioso galloped away from the mountain that "belonged" to the herd, to the neighboring peak. With only moonlight to guide her, she carefully followed the path up the mountains.
As seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours, Brioso felt like maybe it was time to head back when something white among the bushes caught her eye. Frowning to herself, she approached the bushes... And snow! It was snow! Just like Grencia and her foalhood friend, Lamb had described! She touched one with her nose, chuckling as it melted into water.
When she straightened up again, eyes scanning the horizon for more snow, she caught sight of another mare a distance away... Intrigued by her presence, Brioso slowly approached, eyes filled with curiosity. However, it was obvious that she was ready to bolt away if the other proved to be a danger to her.

Terentia smiled. She had company. She knew it, if she had learned nothing as a angeni it would be that people can appear from anywhere. Scanning the distant blue object she also started to head towards her with a warm smile on her face. This was the first person to stumble across her part of the mountain and something about the mare interested her. Something about her... just made her want to be apart of her life.
As she got closer however she noticed. A moon on her side. She was shocked at first her dreams had never been that obvious? she thought for a moment and then choose now not the moment to tell the mare about her vision. Instead she would just smile stopping a distance away to not invade the mare's personal space. She did not want to scare her and maybe some friendly chat would lead onto her dream becoming clear. Was this mare in need of her help?
"Hello. The snow makes your head hurt if you do that too much you know."
She chuckled it was more of a friendly joke than a chat really. Terentia had done it a few times as a foal falling into it. Her coat however had thickened and now she hardly ever felt the cold. Shame really she used to like the sensation on her skin. However not all good things could last forever.

Brioso relaxed a little at the joke; the other mare seemed friendly enough! Giving a bright grin in return, the young mare carefully made her way over, gleeing internally to herself at every small patch of snow she passed... Imagining it cover vast landscapes during winter seemed so magical and exciting! Somehow, Brioso knew that she'll enjoy the cold winds of winter more than the hot, relentless sun of summer.
When she was nearer, the female noticed the two pairs of wings on the other, and realized that she was in fact, an angeni. Despite being more or less an adult now, Brioso had never met one, and the first "angeni" she met wasn't one at all... It was a sly eagle skinwalker in disguise as one, and she had fallen for it, almost becoming a tasty meal.
"I didn't know that!" Brioso responded, giving a chuckle of her own. Stopping a small distance away, she continued with a smile, "Hello! My name is Brioso..." She paused, frowning slightly, "I'm not trespassing, am I?"

"No, do not worry, these mountains are God's creation so all of his creatures are more than welcome to be here. Who are we to claim what is clearly not ours to do so. However this is my home, and you are welcome here as long as you like."
She smiled taking a small bow of her head. A warm and welcoming smile on her face before she once again looked at the female with calculating eyes, still amused by her so called vision. In wonder she tilted her head and decided it was not too rude to investigate and try and work out what the spirits wanted her to do. She was sure this was not a chance meeting. The mare seemed nice and if nothing else she hoped they could be friends.
"My name is Terentia. I hope we can be friends. However I am curious what brings you this far up such a dangerous and cold mountain? I have never seen another around these parts. Not after all the rumours of humans and demons that live here."
She asked in wonder. As softly and calmly as possible.

"God? As in... Nature?" Brioso replied, blinking curiously at her new acquaintance as she took a few more steps towards the female. Pausing, she frowned, musing out loud with, "Well, I've never thought that the land belong to anyone, but there are those who claim it as their territory and... And I guess I don't wish to disturb them if they don't want trespassers? If that makes any sense to you."
The female chuckled in an attempt to cover her awkwardness in having spoken so much - she wasn't even sure if it made any sense! She nodded in acknowledgment as the other introduced themselves, her eyes widening as Terentia finished her sentence.
"Hu- Humans?" The look of surprise was soon replaced by one of nervousness; although she had been told that humans weren't as bad as she thought they were, her experience in foalhood made it difficult for her to trust them as an ally. Demons didn't sound nearly as frightening to her; she was just glad that she made it up without encountering one of the creepy looking two-legged creatures.
Trying to regain her composure, Brioso smiled, "My name is Brioso, its nice to meet you."

"Well God can be classed as nature. More so he was the one that created everything. He is the ruler of the Heavens and the Land."
She smiled and looked out across the snowy outland, the snow started to sparkle and twinkle making the whole place look shiny. She tilted her head and looked back at the female.
"Yes, there are many humans hiding in these mountains, they are all nice people however, just no one gives them a chance to get to know them. I as a Angeni have taken it on myself to protect the humans. I even have there art in my home."
She smiled and nodded at the female before she took another step closer to her.
"So what beings you here?"

If this mare resolves to protect them, then maybe these humans were like the one male living with Grencia and Yei - a good human. She did mention that they were 'nice people', after all! Brioso relaxed a little, feeling less nervous about being there with creatures she didn't quite understand. She smiled at Terentia, and nodded, "Their art? Well, I won't harm them as long as... Well, they don't try to harm me." She paused, and added softly as an after thought, "Or eat me."
She paused, wondering if that last part made her sound rather silly; it was rather obvious now that she was older and probably wiser, that humans don't eat Soquili... Well, they don't usually. Hoping that her new acquaintance didn't hear what she had added, Brioso grinned, "Just taking a walk, and I guess looking for some snow - I was born earlier this Spring so I know nothing about Winter and the thing they call 'snow'... I want to find out more on my own before the seasons change!"

"Fear not, the humans do not want to hurt you m'dear. Like ever race there is some good and some bad, you can not judge the many from the actions of a few."
She smiled and giggled slightly at her comment, she was a young one, although Terentia was not much older. She was about a year old not. How time had fled... how much growing she had to do in such a short time. She smiled reflecting on the last year. She soon snapped out of it though for her attention to drift back to the other mare.
"I was born last winter, its the most dangerous and beautiful season, after all the snow almost ended my life. So even though you can embrace it never underestimate its power. You are in the mountains after all, if you are caught at night in a snow storm, you could freeze to death, and being that cold is like have 100 knives slowly stab into you. I talk from experience."
She smiled, it was not to scare the mare, just a warning about the season, those days where dark, however from Terentia's pain... came the brightest light of her life... Kaiya.

"Maybe, maybe not," Brioso replied; it was obvious that she wasn't entirely convinced. She already knew that it was true after meeting that two legger living with Grencia and Yei, but still... She wasn't ready to trust them yet. Offering a small smile, she hang her head, "I need to get over my fear of them before I can believe that... Maybe in the future..." Her voice faded away, and she looked up as the other mare spoke again.
Brioso's expression turned into one of mild horror at the description, but quickly softened, "Yes, my mentor warned me about that... Winter on the mountains is not to be trifled with... One wrong move could kill you." She paused, giving a grin, "I'm glad you pulled through! If not, we won't be here, having this conversation."

"Fear sometimes blinds you to what is true. Getting over your fears is a path to enlightenment. For when you fear not even death. Then there is nothing which will ever hold you back. Although compared to other things death is the easiest fear to get over. Now to get over the fear of others dying is something much harder. However we all go to the spirits one day so we shall all meet again."
She smiled and nodded rambling on with her preachings once again, a habit she would not soon grow out of. Not until she was much older and wiser. For now her aim was to reach out and touch as many people as she could. So that even though she was training up here in these mountains, she was still reaching out and touching people. So she still felt like the was needed. That said company in these mountains was rare.
"Who is your mentor? if he? is from these mountains then I might have seen him. If not I would sure like to."

"I'm not afraid of death," The female admitted, but then hesitated, pausing before speaking again, "Although I guess I would rather accomplish my dreams before that happens..." As the other mare spoke on, Brioso nodded in agreement, frowning slightly, "I've always feared that my family and friends would die before me... I don't think I can cope with the fact that they'll no longer be around."
She had never really thought much on the subject of death before; so far, all her loved ones are very much alive and well, and she had always taken for granted that it would stay that way for a long time to come. She had also been avoiding the topic, preferring to focus on the present and enjoying the time spent together with others.
"He is the protector of the nearby Islagiatt Herd," Brioso beamed proudly at the mention of the stallion who pretty much changed her whole life. Without him, her dream of gaining the skills needed to help others would only be a mere dream - now, he had helped her work towards making it a reality! She smiled again as she continued, "His name is Grencia. My instructor, the stallion who trains me, is his son Ambroise... They might both be strict, but I know that they mean well."
