Roku yawned as he watched it rain from his den. It was one of the most calming sights to watch since he spent most of his days alone. It had been a year or so since his family died violently, but still he tried not to think of it too much. Perhaps he could visit their grave yet maybe not. He had just scared off a female and he felt ashamed of himself. Nonetheless there was nothing he could do. "Not everyone can like you." He sighed disappointed in himself.

Ara was walking in the woods again when she spotted a familiar grave sight that she had seen recently. She remembered the curious fox she had met there and wondered where he had gone. What made him so memerable in her mind was the devotion that he had given to his dead family as well as the other foxes who had died in the past. The kind of devotion was not seen every day and it really made her respect the fox who went by the name Roku. Ara wondered if she would see him again as she made her way down to the graves that she had met him at before.

Roku got up. "Well...I better get some sort of food to take there today. Perhaps they would wants some fresh berries." He tried to smile as he packed a basket planning the day. He also put in some food for himself, plus other trinkets he found that humans had abandoned. "I'm sure she'll love this new necklace." He smiled cheerfully before bounding out and towards the graves.

When Ara arrived at the gravesite it was empty and Roku was not around. She decided to stay though and pay her respects, and began saying a little prayer for the ones who lay in the ground she stood upon and for the loved ones they left behind. She was so focused on what she was praying for that she did not hear the sound of the paw hitting the dirt as she would have been if she had been paying attention and more alert.

Roku was behind her watching her with the basket in his mouth. He smiled as he watched her a bit happy she was paying her respects to the dead. The light purple fox sat his basket down while watching her wondering when she would notice him behind her. He wanted to have some fun and surprise her if possible.

Ara finished up her prayer, stood and stretched. As she turned around, she let out a little gasp as she noticed that Roku had been sitting right behind her for a while. "Oh, dear, you startled me," she said as she caught her breath. Then she smiled at him. "I am sorry for disturbing your spot and keeping you from doing what you do. How long have you been sitting there?" she asked, hoping it wasn't long or she would feel even worse.

Roku shook his head. "Oh no...it's fine. I just enjoyed watching what you've been doing." He had his normal goofy smile on. "I've only been here for a couple of minutes actually." He cocked his head to the side a bit worried. "Are you ok?"

Ara smiled at him. "Sorry, and yes, I am fine. Nothing to be worried about. So how have you been? Since the last time I saw you, that is? Are you doing well?? Eating right?" Ara asked and sounded like a mother. When she realized this, she blushed. "Sorry," she mumbled.

Roku tried to cover his mouth to prevent him from laughing, but it was hard not to. She looked so cute just worrying about him. "I'm fine...I've been living a normal life style. I think I'm just starting to get over some things. I still miss my family and I know it will be some time for having another mate, but yet I don't really need that all to be happy right now, ya know?"

Ara nodded but was somehow bothered. She knew it was his family that had died but she hadn't known that he had already had a mate as well. She wondered if they had had children but thought it best not to approach that subject with him as it could be really painful. So she smiled and said, "That is really good to hear. So have you come to pray and pay your respects again?"

Roku nodded his head. "Of course I do." He pointed a paw to the grave with lavender flowers growing on it. "That was my wife Lisa right there." He pointed his paw to the little grave. "And that was my daughter Lillia." He still had his smile on. "I understand that they are gone, but I still come her for respect. That's about all." He got some food from his basket before placing some of it near the two graves. "There we go."

Ara smiled at him and felt for the family that he had lost. It made it harder for her, knowing that he had also lost a mate and child to whatever tragedy has struck his, life and she wanted to comfort him but didn't know how. She also did not know how he could talk about them and still seem normal. Ara decided to just be normal and smiled some more. "You really cared about them." she stated, the fact of his love was obvious to her.

Roku nodded his head. "Indeed I did." He closed his eyes as he prayed a small prayer before opening his eyes again. "Alright...that should be it for today." He got up to stretch. "Do you want to go on a walk? I don't want to make you feel awkward with this."

Ara stood and laughed. "No, I do not find this awkward at all. I find it respectable to be honest. It is a good thing to honor the dead and remember them, even if you do in the end move on. It's not good to forget the past and those in it. You know what I mean?"

Roku nodded his head slowly. "I guess...I think it's just that sometimes I like to forget things for a while. I mean don't get me wrong...I do remember the dead each day, but I don't like to dwell on it too much. Or else others might get the opinion that I am crazy. I mean what would you do if you saw a fox keep coming to a gravestone for the rest of his life and talking to it?"
