It had been a LONG day...
"Calime, NO! Put that...Anarion! What'd I tell you about...Ailin, Iriden...just...would you...
SIT DOWN FOR FIVE MINUTES!"
Draggy rubbed her forehead. Now that her little wyrmlings were entering the draconic equivalant of their terrible twos, it was one headache after another! She could've just as soon gotten the chromatics and metallics to agree on something that didn't mean impending doom than to have gotten her four children to settle down!
"Gell!" she called, and her husband carefully cracked the door to his library -- sure, -he- could get a sanctum from all the ruckus -- and peered out.
"Yes dearest?"
"Five minute break?" she said, brushing her hair out of her face where it was coming loose from her ponytail. Luckily, he couldn't argue with that expression, and so with a gleeful yelp of joy the four clambored into his study. Let -him- deal with them getting into everything under the sun for a while!
She was just about to sit down in the 'kitchen' of their lair when a sound caught her noise, followed by a high pitched giggle. She rounded the corner and just had time to scream, "NO!" before Calime, who seemed to be the ringleader of the four, snapped one of Gell's wands in half. There was a booming sound like a thousand firecrackers going off and smoke filled the room in an array of colors.
She coughed and sputtered, wafting her hand about in a vain effort to clear the smoky haze. Finally as it drifted away she saw a small shadow darting to the side and reached out to grab for its wrist. "Calime, what have I..." the rest of the words died in her throat. It wasn't Calime. In fact, the poor fightened child ran off screaming and crying for his mother.
Draggy looked around and suddenly wondered just where she was as the village bustled around her.

Asipa sat up, rubbing her eyes, and realized she must have fallen asleep in the flower bed. She looked around for Tsuji and Palas. It appeared they had fallen asleep or were resting their eyes as well, so she stood up quietly, not wanting to disturb them.
Suddenly, a woman appeared in the middle of the road before her, just out of nowhere. Asipa left the flower bed and walked over to the woman.
"Hello, I'm Asipa, but you can call me Sipi. Are you one of the strangers to this world? My friends and I have been trying to find some of them."

Side Chapter Eight Start - Afternoon in Greenoak Village. Trade is vibrant in the square, only pausing briefly upon the smoky arrival of a pointy-eared newcomer. Children laugh and play, parents gossip and shop, surrounded by shops and inns with many still hard at their tasks, waiting for the sun to dip low enough in the sky to call it a day and head for their own relaxations.
From one inn, a young busboy is pushed out the door by a nervous-looking barkeep. The boy shakes his head in resignation, and heads towards the center fountain of the square slowly, as if to put off the inevitable...

She woke and didn't remember why she had been sleeping. Then there at her side a small sigh came, and she remembered. Looking to Fabian she brushed hair out of his babyish sleeping face. He looked so soft...so innocent when he slept...
She kissed him on the head, drawing a blanket off the floor to cover him, quietly shaking it out first. She searched the room for the articles of clothing which were actually her's, and dressed.
She really didn't need all this sleep, and couldn't think of why Fabian slept so much longer than her in such instances. But she smiled despite her confusion, and quietly left the room.
Her ponytails were in complete dissarray, and rather than go about the task of fixing them she merely let the curly purple hair fall around her face, giving her a much older appearance. She tied the green ribbons around her right wrist, bowed, with the tails short and tucked around her arm, so it looked more like a corsage than strips of shiny cloth draped about her dainty wrist.
Running fingers through her untamable collumn curls she wanders out of the inn, and down the wide street to the market center. She was becoming quite used to the lack of sunshine, and her cloak merely draped around her shoulders.

Draggy turned to look at the lady speaking to her. Well, at least she hadn't landed on some tribal jungle plane where the natives greeted you with a spear to the throat...or worse. She smiled and held out her hand.
"Dragona Nightsky, though simply Draggy is fine. I guess I'd be considered a stranger. Never been to this place that I recall, but oh well. Are you a native here?"

HaeShin was aware of his voice but did not hear a word of his speech. Her eyes were fixed on his slender delicate fingers and carefully shaped manicure. I wish I was half as elegant. she thought. A disturbance caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. A swirl of bubbles surrounded her, blinding her.
Suddenly, she was no longer in the Sea. "Uwahh!" kerplunk! HaeShin had fell from the Sky and into a fountain. Panic enveloped her senses. Where am I? What... what?
She splashed around in panic, looking more and more like a fish out of water.

Asipa giggled at Draggy. "No, I'm not from around here. Apparently there is a whole group of people not from around here, but I've only met three of them so far. Palas, Aria, and Tsuji. I don't know where the rest of them are, and to be honest, I don't even know where Aria is anymore."
Asipa spoke hastily, worried lest she lose this new stranger as well. She didn't like being alone in a world where she didn't know anyone. Looking towards the center of town, she saw a lady with purple hair come out of the inn.
"Ooh, I bet that lady with the purple hair is one of them. I haven't seen her around here before, but she definitely looks out of place. Maybe we can go find out. She might know where the rest of them are.", Asipa said excitedly.

The young servant boy, still wearing his messy dishwashing apron over the simplest drab tunic and shorts, continues his journey to the large fountain. Many villagers he passes acknowledge him in some form or another, whether it's with sympathetic pats on the back, cruel giggles or just a roll of the eyes in disbelief. He doesn't return any, but keeps on his path through the crowd, eyes to the ground.

She tucked a portion of her hair out of her face behind her pierced ear, a small strand getting stuck on the hoop at her earlobe. She never usually had this problem, and looked quite confused as to how to fix it.
She stopped in her travels. She used both hands to carefuly uncurl the bit of hair, but pulled it the wrong direction and ended up tangling it further. She wined softly under her breath.

Draggy rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "So this isn't an odd occurance then? This isn't Juxta is it...?" The last she mumbled more to herself. At the mention of the purple haired girl, she nodded. "Sure, why--"
SPLASH!!
She could feel the water splatter her backside as she stopped with a gasp. She loved the cold, but it was the surprise that got to her as the water ran in rivulets off her leather and tried to soak into her shirt. Gell had thankfully enchanted it when the wyrmlings were babes...he got tired of cleaning out spit-up stains...but that didn't keep her from getting wet at all.
She turned and looked to see what had caused the splash.
"Paladine!" she said, almost as if a curse of sorts, "are you alright?!" she said to Haeshin.

The young man approaches the fountain, and he, like many other townsfolk, stop and stare at the splashing new arrival. Unlike the others, however, he continues to get up onto the ledge of the fountain and watches from there.

Draggy turns to the young, drab-ly clothed boy. "Hey, give me a hand and help me get her out, would you?"

Confusion in her eyes, Asipa looked at Draggy and said, "Juxta? Never heard of it. I don't know what the name of this place is. It could be Juxta, I suppose."
Hearing the splash and feeling a bit of water hit her in the face, Asipa jumped back and exclaimed, "Hey! Watch what..."
She stopped mid-sentence, realizing that the splash had come from someone falling into the fountain from above.
Draggy had turned and adressed the girl as Paladine. "You...you know her?", she asked, pointing at Hueshin. "Where did she just come from? She wasn't there a minute ago."

HaeShin felt heavy but managed to pull herself up, the water dripping from her robes. She blinked, panic fading away, yet unsure how to proceed. The creatures here seemed like land-dwellers, HaeShin figured out, but were unlike any she had ever seen.
"I appear to be unharmed." She replied to the one who addressed her. Feeling the eyes of many was not as hurtful as her silly countenance. HaeShin treked across the fountain towards the helpful voice.

The boy blinks at the pointy-eared woman's request. "Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh-okay!" He tries to help Draggy although it's clear he doesn't want to enter the water to do it, instead just stretching out his short arms in the general direction of the center of the splashes of water.

Seeing the boy's reluctance to help Draggy, Asipa volunteered, "Here, I'll help you." She slipped off her shoes, stepped up onto the fountain, and into the water, offering a hand to the girl.

When HaeShin declares herself unhurt, if not terribly dry, the boy withdraws his attempts to help. He stares at her even more than at Draggy, and doesn't say anything. Some of the villagers stare too, perhaps more than a few of them some dumb and obviously leering men, but eventually the traffic of the square, and the wives, start to push people along.
Dragona Nightsky
Draggy smiles encouragingly to the boy - she hoped he never saw her in her birthday suit if he was this nervous as is! "Thanks," she says and keeps her hand out for Haeshin to grab a hold of and get out of the fountain. She then looks to Aspia.
"Eh? No, I don't know any of these people. What makes you say that?"

Having conquered her unruly curl she tucked it behind her sufficiently long ear. It was an odd feeling, having things push against the back of her ear. Moving again toward the village circle she found quite a few people she hadn't seen before, but she was slowly getting used to this. One had pointy ears like her's, and that excited her. Another looked like a very pretty young woman, and yet a third lay sprayled on the ground, wet. She couldn't see this one quite clearly yet, and made her curious way over to them.
"Hello!" She says cheerfuly to the group of people.

Standing up straight on the fountain's wide stone edge, the boy turns around to face out towards the crowd. He pulls out a scroll, and starts to unroll it with a grim look on his face.

Looking more confused than ever, Asipa looked at Draggy. "You just called her Paladine. I thought you knew her."
She climbed down out of the fountain, then turned to see if the girl needed a hand climbing out, herself.

Draggy chuckled a bit. "Oh, no no. Paladine is the name of my god, well, one of the names. At any rate, I..."
She couldn't help but look up as she saw that scroll being unfurled out of the corner of her eyes. Having dealt with her children for the past many moons, she did the first thing that instinct told her to do and made a grab for it.

HaeShin took the hands of two and withdrew from the fountain to dry land, though curious at the boy's action. "Thank you. I... apologize for my appearance." she said as neutrally as possible. "I am disoriented..."
At the sound of a "hello" her training finally kicked in and she tilted her head downward in a formal bowing nod. Raising her eyes, she declared "I am..." A hesitation. I do not know if I should trust strangers with my identity. she decided. "Hae-Sae, from the Kingdom of the Dragon of the Sea."

Hearing Draggy talk about her god, Asipa became a bit uncomfortable. She had never been a religious person, and really didn't know anything about gods.
Seeing Draggy's hand shoot out, Asipa turned to see what had caught Draggy's attention, and saw the boy standing on the fountain holding a scroll, and Draggy had snatched it from his hands. Asipa was a bit shocked, and wondered what the scroll contained on it.

"HEAR YE HEAR YE!!", the young lad declares in a loud soprano. Immediately villagers around stop and laugh at him. Mutterings of "Oh god, what now?", "I wish that innkeep would stop making Dehnis do this...", and "What's that paranoid freak got for us this time, Dehnis? Ha!" surround him, and he has to wait a moment for it to die down enough for him to continue.
The boy looks at Draggy in shock as the scroll is yanked from his hands before he can hardly read anything from it. "Uh, uh, uh... you mind...?"

She nearly bounced in place. "Hello then, my name is Nostarah!" A radiant smile spread across her face, and she nearly clapped her hands. "I've never actually met a dragon before." She almost giggled, her childish delight clear on her face as she looked at the odd looking dragon woman. She fairly danced in place.
Hearing the boy in the apron speak she instinctively looked over at him.

If anyone ever said motherly instinct was never wrong, they hadn't met Draggy.
If anything, her motherly instinct had been pushed beyond the scope of 'normal', so once she realised that the boy was simply going to read from the scroll, she couldn't help but blush a bluish-pink around the tips of her ears.
She tried to cover her beautiful blunder, though.
"Oh, I was gonna read it for ya...ya know, make sure it carries and all, but here kid, all yours..."
And quickly she passed it back. She had been sure he was about to unroll and read off some magic scroll and burn down the kitchen again...it only happened several times a week at home...

Hearing Haeshin introduce herself, Asipa turns back to the girl. "Hae-Sae?", she repeats. "What an odd name. Kingdom of the Dragon of the Sea? I've never heard of that place before. What sort of place is it?", she questioned.
Realizing that the boy had been about to read something important from the scroll that Draggy had snatched from his hands, she turned back before Haeshin could answer, to see if Draggy had given the scroll back to the boy. This was the most activity she had seen in this village since the wolves came.
Hearing the lady with the purple hair speak, she looked over at her. "Nostarah? Wow, that's a pretty name. Dragon? What dragon?", she looked around at everyone with a puzzled look on her face. She didn't see any dragon and didn't know what Nostarah was talking about. She was beginning to feel quite foolish.
Draggy had given the boy the scroll back, so she turned to listen to what he had to say.

HaeShin smiled just barely showing rows of pointed teeth, Nostarah's enthusiasm was catching, and replied, "I have never been to the surface before..." Then another disturbance caught her eye.
The scroll... snatching... So much seemed to be happening at once. HaeShin forced herself to appear calm, though her heart was racing.
Her attention was now fixated on the one holding a scroll.
((HaeShin is a dragon... albeit in humanoid form: [x]))

She turned to see the rest of them staring at her...so much for covering her blunder. However, it gave her a chance to get a good look at Haeshin. A dragonkin? Well that made her feel a bit more at ease. She nodded and mumbled, "Martivir vethrasvim shafear," to her. It was an old draconic greeting from where she lived. She wondered if the other woman would know it.
Either way, she gave her a smile, as well as the purple curly haired woman, before turning to listen to the boy.

"Some of these newcomers are pretty weird all right...", someone in the crowd states, getting nods all around. The boy blushes, but takes the scroll and resumes shout-reading from it. "Ahem! The World Famous Hundryd-Hex Hotelle once again is experiencing abnormal effects of the owner's fantastic curse!" Many laughs from the crowd, and many head-shakes of humorous disbelief. "A call goes out to anyone who would aid this poor man in his hour of need! Be ye hero or sage, or anyone with some talent for dispelling trouble and an eye for a large coin reward, or just looking for a place to get food, drink and lodging in the least boring place in Greenoak, come down the street to the Hundryd-Hex Hotelle! Gerald "Godforsaken" Gormsmith proprietor." The boy, bright red from embarrassment, steps down amid the laughing crowd and stares straight at the ground while pointing down the street, likely the direction of the inn in question.
Nostarah
Nostarah smiled wide, all her time spent with Fabian and leeland banishing thiughts of keeping what she was a secret. Fangs showed. "Well, then I dare say you'll be overwhelmed in minutes. A lot seems to happen here, giving one a feeling of never truly getting a moment to reflect." She seemed to blush a bit, several recent occurances rushing through her mind.
Turning on her heel as if her entire thought process had changed, she bounced over to the boy. "I'll go!" she seemed in QUITE the helpful and excited mood.
fiziali
Listening to the boy, Asipa did not understand what he was talking about. Someone wanted help with some kind of curse. Someone at the Inn apparently, for that was the direction the boy had pointed.
Then Nostarah said something about being overwhelmed. When she smiled, fangs showing quite visibly. Asipa let out a screech, jumping back and into Draggy. She had not been expecting that from such a beautiful woman.
"Are you...?", she stammered out, not completing the question that was in her mind. She was wondering if the woman was a vampire, because the fangs were like the vampires in all those horror movies.
"Never mind.", she said sullenly, not really wanting to know the answer to that.
Turning to look at Draggy apologetically, she said, "Sorry about that. She scared me for a second there."

Shaking her head, she replied to Nostarah, "Indeed."
Then started by familiar sounding words, HaeShin was a bit unsettled. It sounded like the old tongue, though different. Perhaps a different dialect? Perhaps she was a dragon from the Kingdom of Sky? Hope of familiarity lightened her cautious heart.
But before she could say anything she heard the boy announce. Could this curse... be what brought me here?
The announcement over, she turned and unleashed the question held back. "How do you know the old tongue?"

She tilted her head back as she turned to look at the girl who had spoken to her, open child-like curiosity plain on her face. "What's wrong?" She hadn't heard the question, but the shriek was a little hard to ignore with the girl so close to her, and her ears so long.

She fairly danced in place at his acceptance of her. "Then lead the way!" She seemed to be switching conversations quite quickly, not waiting for an answer but merely moving on with the next thing that approaches her senses first. It didn't seem she was doing it on purpose, however...
She bounced forward and hooked her arm around the boy's elbow, as if he were escorting her somewhere, a radiant smile on her face.
Dragona Nightsky
The question caught Draggy off-guard. She had always cautious when first meeting people about just blabbering out that she was, indeed, a dragon. Some people didn't distinguish between metallics and chromatics, some just didn't care, and still others were frightened by the idea of being in the company of a large reptilian-like creature that could bite them in half in one fell swoop...she supposed she couldn't blame them there.
Still, this girl was of some kind of dragon blood, she knew the tongue, and it would be nice to be in familiar company...it was hard explaining draconic jokes to people sometimes!
Still, her answer was cryptic at best. "I've always known it, it's a part of my blood I guess."
She jolted a bit as Aspia bumped into her, but held her hands up in a gesture to say it was alright. Then she then turned to look at the boy and the purple-haired girl heading off and pondered for a moment. She hadn't had the chance for something like this in a long time. She nodded more to herself than anyone.
"Sure, I'll go. Why not?"
fiziali
Asipa waited to see what Draggy and the others were going to do. She wasn't sure she wanted to follow after and help, if no one else was. She didn't think she'd be very comfortable if she were helping alongside a possible vampire.
Nostarah had turned to her to find out why she had screeched, and Asipa could not ignore her question. Flinging back the hair from her eyes, she looked at Nostarah, obviously quite nervous as she said meekly, "I was wondering if you are a vampire? I mean, I've never known anyone with fangs like that. Then again, I've never known anyone with wings on their back before and I've definitely never known a succubes before, or a shape changer for that matter."
Feeling a little braver now that she had been mentioning all the strange people she had met here, she said, "All I've ever known my whole life is humans. I didn't even know people like you..." She swept her hand around at the small group of outsiders to indicate them. "...existed in real life. I thought it was all stories made up in books and movies."
Asipa shook her head, exasperated. "I just want to know where I am and how to get home.", she cried, tears beginning to flow down her cheeks as the frustration of the last couple days finally caught up with her.
She didn't know if Nostarah even heard her, as she had gone off with the boy towards the inn.
Draggy said she was going to go, and feeling the most comfortable with her out of the entire group, Asipa decided to go with her as well. She followed after Draggy, tears flowing down her cheeks, hanging her head low as if trying to hide the tears.

Calling back over her shoulder to Asipia she felt her cheeks flush at the question. "I'm not going to bite anybody, if that's what you're worried about!" Her voice light and cheerful, neither denying or confirming the fact.

HaeShin pondered a bit at the meaning of the reply. It seemed as if she was a dragon indeed... or at least partially. Upon hearing that the other dragon would go, HaeShin said, "I shall join you."

Draggy hung back a moment to wait for Aspia. She was suddenly glad she hadn't burst out that she was a dragon, though when Aspia mentioned shapechangers she did freeze a bit. Still, she took the younger girl by the shoulders - at least Draggy assumed that if she was human, she was definitely younger more than likely - and walked with her.
"Hey, don't worry there. I've been in alot of situations that were worse than this. If there's one thing I can tell you it's that there's always a way out, even when things look hopeless. So cheer up, ok?" she said, reaching down to brush the tears away from her cheeks if allowed. "Besides, you seem to have ended up with a nice bunch of people, see?"

The boy has no trouble making his way through the snickering crowd. No villager volunteers to come along, although a few guys look like they want to follow this group of girls whereever they're going. Before too long, he arrives in front of a shabby inn. The wooden signboard is a picture of a bunch of wiggling purple evil-looking symbols seeming to accost a hunched-over balding barkeep. The boy looks up at the girls who've come along, nodding to indicate they've arrived.
The inn definitely has seen better days. Several windows are boarded up, and there's little traffic in and out of the inn, despite that the building style is exactly the same as surrounding structures. Like it had been singled out by every disaster Nature felt like throwing at the area.

Looking at sign, she noted the odd look about it, and looked over the building itself. "It's a little broken, isn't it?" she asked in a soft childish voice. "shall we go in then?" She let go of the boy's arm and tilted her head, examining the sign.

Hearing the light and cheerful tone in Nostarah's voice did little to comfort Asipa. If she was indeed a vampire, would she really tell someone she was going to bite them? Asipa highly doubted that.
Draggy had made an attempt to comfort her, and even brushed away her tears. Asipa was embarassed, not prone to outbursts like the one she had just had, and definitely not used to crying. She didn't know how to react, so she just stood there, letting Draggy wipe the tears away. Realizing what Draggy had just said, she nodded. Her voice trembling a bit, she said, "Yeah, I guess so. I mean, so far everyone I've met has seemed to be very nice."
The boy had come to a stop outside a very shabby looking building, and Asipa looked at the building with apprehension. This was the Inn the boy had mentioned? It didn't look very inviting.

Draggy smiled at her. "That's the spirit. Think on the positive!"
Then she turned and looked at the supposed 'inn'.
"Uh...this is it?"

"MR. G!!"", the boy yells into the tavern's front door. In a moment a balding older man steps into the entryway, a surprised look on his face. He smiles very widely. "Wonderful, Dehnis! Uh, are they guests or priests or... well, who are are you all? Come on, come in, tell me on the way, then I'll fill you on my sad, sad tale. Truely sad, yes!" He isn't frowning though, but smiling happily and rubbing his hands together. The boy just rolls his eyes.
Nostarah
Hopping and skipping she headed into the inn, following the cheerfuly grinning man. "I'm Nostarah!" She proclaimed happily, her curls bouncing around her with each gleeful skip.
Following him after hearing him say something about a tale, she begins to sing in a whistful tone, "Story time, story time, stoooory tiiiime.."

Asipa looks apprehensively at the old man the boy addressed as Mr G. He said his tale was very sad, yet he seemed quite happy, and that struck Asipa as being very odd.
She looked at Draggy, then at Nostarah, wondering what they were going to do. Normally Asipa made decisions for herself, but this whole situation had her feeling quite insecure at the moment.
For once in her life, she would let someone else make the decisions for her. Draggy seemed to have some experience in this department anyways.
Nostarah seemed not to be concerned at all as she went skipping into the inn after the man, quite happily.

The inside of the inn is worse looking even than the outside, somehow. A couple customers are scattered around, eating and drinking what seems to be pretty decent food, actually, but the walls are torn up and graffiti'd, the floor is scuffed like it'd been through an avalanche (is that snow in the corner?), and no mirror is in one piece. The decorations around the place all seem to be various kinds of wards against evil from what have to be at least 12 different religions.
Nostarah
Looking around as she followed the man she put a finger to her bottom lip. "Oh wow...it's really broken in here, isn't it?" She stepped on tip toes around small debris, and tilted her head at a pile of white in one corner. snow...? That seemed fun. "Somebody scribbled all over the walls too." She wrinkled her nose at the thought of doing so. A hand went to the back of her neck, rubbing softly.

-IS- that snow in the corner? Draggy wondered as she stepped inside and looked around. She had a sudden inkling about why the townsfolk laughed at the poor boy when he stood up to make his announcement.
Thoughtfully she looks around. She thought maybe she recognized one of those decorative wards, but she couldn't be sure. Somehow she wasn't sure she wanted to sit, though, so she stood and looked to the barkeep as he told his tale.
