Life's hard, and it's even harder when you have to work so hard to put God first. So this thread's about ideas and stories that help us remember God is #1. I'm starting it because a youth group me and my friends started (Teenagers for Christ) is having a contest about who can bring the most discussion around Christ and The Lord. So, go ahead, start sending ideas! biggrin

Well, being a teenager is hard with all your hormones and what not raging all up in you. When you truly want to give up anything that prevents you from God, you say to Him,
'Here I am Lord and I give this up to you. Because It said in your word"my power is made perfect in weakness" so If I bring my weakness to you you shall surely save me from it'.
You can't just ask for it to be taken from you, you have to GIVE IT UP to Him. That's something I've learned. Keep in mind to, what Paul said in Romans Chapter 7 about sin. read it if you haven't. It would be a good thing to do so.

hahaha. hormones... stare dang, it's so hard to remember you're a christian in high school. i don't know about y'all, but my school is so crowded and busy, i can't keep my thoughts straight let alone even remember i'm a christian. sweatdrop and it doesn't help that the only prayer group we have meets so early in the morning that hardly anyone can get there on time. -sigh-

Yay! more christian teens! it is such a blessing to see you guys. anywhere. Can i make a suggestion? If you think that it is rather difficult to be a christian teenager.. (hey i am a christian teen!) on bibles i would suggest that you check out the message bible! Also one thing that keeps me runnin for God is looking for things that i can do for him! i am God's sword in this world why not be sharp? online i talk to people mabe not directly about him but i keep him in mind when someone seems a bit more sad than usual offline, i look to improve my relationship with Him by finding people who share my views and spending time with them but also spending time with people who are hurting.
who voted on this poll that being God's kid comes easily... i would love to meet you...

Yay! More Christian teens on Gaia!! XD I think it's a bit harder to be a Christian teen, because you have all the pressures of regular teen life in there as well, with greater temptations from the devil because he knows we are Christian teens. It may not be hard to some Christian teens, but watching friends who you have grown very close to go through all the things life throws at you, and they let it happen to themselves, and don't do anything about it is what makes it harder for those Christian teens, along with the teens that DO have trouble with it.. hmmm... I can't think of anything else to say.. GO GOD!! XD

I havn't been a teenager for about 5 years now, but I think its harder to be an adult and Christian than a teen and Christian...
When you're a teen, you are still under your parens house. Your parents provide you food and clothing, and you don't have to worry so much about life issues. Now that I am an adult I'm starting to find it hard to trust that God is going to provide where my parents once did...
I think thats one of the major struggles I'm going through right now...

Yes, it can be difficult, but it's well worth it and I'm always trying to find a way to put God first if I'm struggling somehow. I always have so much on my mind, but God is one of those things and whenever something good happens, I instantly think of how lucky and blessed I am and I always give thanks to Him. Even when not-so-great things happen, I still give thanks because those things are what balance out the good things. And I agree on having to give things up. I used to swear all the time because I was always so pressured, and even though that's still the case, I almost never do it anymore, and I really kicked myself into breaking the habit, and now I can't stand being around most other teens because they swear in every other sentence. Not that I want to, but because I know it's a sin and they couldn't care less. I also used to somewhat hold grudges on people and would be angred by them so easily, but now I always forgive them, no matter what, because the Bible has really spoken to me. "Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one" (Luke 11:4). It can be hard, especially if people just keep pushing it, but putting God first is far more important than trying to do something about it and sinning.

Well, yeah, ITS HARDER... I think its because of the experience we Teenagers have.. I mean, we are still getting into maturity and all we know for now is... GOOD TIME! and, mostly of that good time turns around to be a Sin.... Ofcourse, unless you handle a big responsibility that will make us mature, but still, the desire... the temptations when it comes to... Sin! *sigh*
Guess... only a few could understand this post wink

Actually, Dove, I'd imagine a lot of us can understand it.
From what I recall of being a teen (and contrary to popular belief, it not that hard to recall), the biggest problem wasn't hormones: it was the rest of the world.
Right now, we have tons upon tons of purest crap thrown at us, telling us what we're supposed to like, and how we're supposed to act, and which celebrity is "good" and how we should spend our money on them and follow their every move. And it's often hard for even the experienced to separate the gold from the dross. Whether something is good or crap, we're expected to follow along with whatever the great media machine tells us.
As teens, it's even more difficult ... because around 80% of our culture is aimed at warping (not "influencing", warping) teenagers. Most trends are manufactured specifically to target young people. There's even the manufactured trend of the anti-trendy ... but the anti-trendy teen, also called the goth, is its own trend! There's no way to win, no way to be your own separate person.
This is where "peer pressure" comes in, but here's the truth about "peer pressure" -- yes, we learn from our peers, but they're just as in the dark as we are. Talk about the blind leading the visually challenged ... often, our "peers" are just going on what they're told by the media about what we're supposed to be, and how we should worship at the feet of this singer just because it's "the thing to do". If you're not part of either Team Edward or Team Jacob -- if, like myself, you're on Team Who-Gives-A-Rat's-Hindquarters -- you just don't matter.
This is also where the hormones really kick in. I'm not talking about sex, I'm talking about enthusiasm. Whatever we're expected to latch onto, we latch onto it with every scrap of life we can possibly muster. Sadly, too many teens -- heck, too many people of all ages -- do this ... and end up with nothing left. They feed their souls into the great pop-media machine, and when their minds (and their wallets) are drained dry, the great pop-media machine tosses 'em aside as junk.
Oh, and Heaven help you if you happen to like something that's odd! Oh, instant ostracism time, there; worse, you're a target for assault, be it psychological or physical. No matter if you're a forerunner for something that'll be trendy in 3-5 years ... right now, you're just a freak!
Fortunately, we still have Jesus. And though He does call us to be part of His church (so we're not completely separate), He doesn't ask us to abandon our identity completely and become mindless drones, the way pop culture does. And He doesn't consider us "freaks", ever. To Him, we matter.
