With the behind the scenes updating of the Wi-Fi League and the construction of the new Battle Tower, this debate has arisen yet again. I figured it'd be best to get the opinions from you, the members of D/P Gaming, on how you all feel about this tenacious dragon.
I'm keeping all the information on what has already been debated in the Crew section hidden as a means to not put any sway (in one direction or the other) in any of your opinions. If you wish to chime in, please post down an actual debate worthy post and keep all flaming to a minimum. I shall be keeping track of all the Pros and Cons gathered from this thread.
Keep in mind, no matter what the end result is for this week-long poll, the Crew ultimately will have the final say on Garchomp's fate, so if you want it banned/saved, make your debate as compelling as possible.
With that being said, let's hear it!

Well Garchomp is really overpowered and could demolish a team in an instant, but there are ways to counter it. So my vote is uber.

Really since Garchomp is used in Cynthia's Champion Team in the 4th Gen. Trio I would have to say that Garchomp should be considered OU because that's where the Fanfic started at and you could just Ice Beam/Punch it to next year

Garchomp should have NEVER gone to uber. I still don't know why it got put there. It still has that 4x weakness to ice like Salemence and Dragonite do. It stats are about the same as the other Psudo-legendaries.

...First off, holy crap, it's Mel. XD
Back to the topic at hand.
I believe that Garchomp should remain in Ubers. Though its stats make it sub-par in said tier, a Brightpowder Garchomp in a Sandstorm team makes its x4 Ice Weakness virtually moot- few are fast enough to hit it with a non-priority Ice attack, and a defensively built Garchomp can easily survive a STAB Ice Shard from the likes of Weavile, the move's strongest user.
During the days when Garchomp ran rampant in OU, entire teams were designed around walling and stopping the dragon- it broke the game by literally forcing teams to abandon originality out of sheer necessity whenever it broke onto the scene. Its power made it so overused, there was literally no prediction, in the long run- nine times out of ten, the opponent's team carried a Garchomp. Prepare accordingly.
Originality was stifled out of necessity.
Banning a Sandstorm + Brightpowder set would make me consider allowing Garchomp some leeway, but until that rule can be set in stone, the two evasion boosts plus high speed and extreme Attack stats make it far too cheap to use in the main metagame without a team specially designed around it. We all want to be able to flex our creative minds, don't we, and design teams that don't have to be wrapped around ONE possible threat, now, do we?
The only faster, reliable counters would fall under the names of Ice Beam-toting Starmie, Ice Beam Frosslass, and Ice Punch Weavile, all of whom would fall instantly if they missed even once.
Garchomp for Ubers.

Brightpowder is generally banned by Standard Clauses, particularly the Luck "Hax" Item Clause.

Garchomp s a beast all in all, but the same goes for; Dragonite in Kanto. Dragonite and Kingdra started to bump heads in Jhoto abit. Salamence rained supreme in Hoenn. And Garchomps time to shine was in Sinnoh.
Every region had their own top dragon and they weren't thrown off to the UBER tier. They have the same/common weakness that are even more commonly thrown around in the metagame. No1s team goes anywhere without and Ice attack and it's been that way since... Dragonite! Brightpowder is banned due to the "lux" hax so howd that even come to play. You rarely see a Garchomp just use Sandstorm anyway, he could Sword dance instead. Garchomps are pure-breed beast, but so is every other top dragon. They all have their own specialty's for battle, its really just how good a trainer you are with or against it. Its already been purposely shut down due to numerous ways of countering it. I say it should go for the OU tier still.
And no. Im not just saying this because Garchomp is like my fav pokemon ever.. Isn't that right Raizen... "Gar....Chomp chomp" Good boy..

To be fair Yoh, 'Chomp doesn't even need to use Sandstorm. A quick switch-in of a Pokemon with the Sandstream ability eliminates the need for anyone to even bother wasting a move slot for Sandstorm or much less even use the move.

Yeah, but Ive seen a lot of people either comfortably fit in to a sandstorm team or get rid of it. Like stated earlier, its multiple ways to counter Garchomp, ya know?

But you have to remember there are many just as many ways for a Garchomp to counter you. This is a debate that I wont really get involved in, as I have never had a problem taking down a Garchomp with my team, but I'll send in my verdict by the end of the week.

Seeing as Garchomp is allowed in the Battle Tower (ubers aren't) and Garchomp's x4 to ice it should be OU. There are many ways to counter him. Every member of my level 50 has been able to to beat 252attack/252 speed Chomps that Swords Dance.
One Ice Beam/Punch/Fang and Chomp goes down.
Therefore Garchomp should be an OU.

William_Lycan Seeing as Garchomp is allowed in the Battle Tower (ubers aren't) To be fair, In-game Battle Tower also bans Celebi, Jirachi and Phione which are nowhere near Uber.

Man, beat me to it. As for me, I'm kind of on the fence... Will there be a sticky announcing which pokemon fall into which Tier?

The D/P Gaming Guild's custom Uber tier will be known hopefully by the time the new Battle Tower opens it's doors to the public.
