User ImageThe constant chitters and jubilant shrills from her ever so boisterous familiar were both endearing and incredibly distracting for Shaula. Perhaps it was the constant reflective expression on her face that would set the small orb into a frenzy. After all, Bop did not have a clear understanding of the many emotions that a creature could express let alone the many shades in between. To him, his companion looked sad and it was his duty to bring a smile to her face.

"Who would have thought humans could have such an expansive imagination..." Shaula muttered to herself as a single talon leafed to the next page of her book: a well worn copy of Dante's Inferno.

Just as she had begun to take a glimpse over the next verse, a torrent of candies showered over her. Colorful bobbles clunked off of her horns and mane. With a bit a snarl, Shaula snapped her gaze upwards to her bouncy familiar: "Bop! You've made a mess!"

A quick squeak signaled his fright as well as the guilt that followed. Two swirled appendages that he had grown accustomed to use as hands twirled to and fro as if he were in embarrassed.

"The creatures of the forest can't eat these... they'll get sick," at first she sounded stern as she brushed some of the sugary delights from the pages of her book, but the tone gradually softened. Chuckling she lifted herself up upon her paws and began to nudge at the candies, "Come on, help me clean these up..."

User Image Caden had been, per usual, sauntering out and about on his own for the afternoon. Most of the residents of his home were out on the beach or napping quietly inside at this hour... neither of which he liked the idea of. Capricorn was out in town getting their weekly groceries... which meant that Caden himself was not allowed to accompany her. Usually only Beau or Captain accompanied her that far from their home.

Behind him, his familiar hissed as it chased a bug around and around in circles. Sshing him quietly, he enjoyed the warm forest floor beneath his feet, and the lack of dead leaves to get caught up in his shaggy fur. Shaking his mane out of his eyes, he padded around the bend of his little well-worn path just in time to watch a rainbow shower of god-knew-what dropping on top of a rather familiar looking winiko.

Before he could stop himself he let out a soft snort of amused laughter. Shaking his head, he padded wide around her as to not startle her the way he had previously, whistling to his familiar to follow him this way.

"Got a little bit of trouble?" he offered her a smile, pausing just a couple feet away until she had recognized him.

(GAH! I had no idea you replied. I are teh fail XD)

The rhythmic puttering of claws upon earth complimented the ever looping jangling of the trinkets clasped to her ears. Bop was eagerly sweeping at the treats as well as "storing" a hefty portion of them in his gaping maw. Shaula couldn't help but stiffle a laugh at the sight. What she hadn't expected was the familiar drawl of a fellow Winiko to her side.

"Oh!... Uhm... Caden was it?" reflecting back to their prior encounter. Having been so hasty to remember the name of her kin, she had forgotten the moment of embarrassment she had felt just as he had discovered her predicament.

Now, what had he asked? Oh yes, "Trouble? Yes... I'm afraid so. My little companion isn't one for reading between the lines, if you will."

Bop glanced up to her with widened eyes, candies dribbling from his comically large mouth. His cheeks resembled the very candies he was attempting to be rid of, only magnified several times. This sight along with the small pun she had just uttered caused her to laugh once again. Only around her bonded did she ever feel so candid and yet here she was, her usual air of reflection and repose gave way with every bit of laughter.

Caden smiled, glad for once he hadn't scared the living daylights out of someone. Whether he lied it enough he traveled quietly on his own, and more often than not startled anyone he called a friendly hello to. He shook his bangs from his eyes again- when had they gotten so long?

"I'm glad you remembered me, it means I made an impression." he laughed and cast her a playful wink, more of a gesture to mock himself than anything else. "And you, my fair lady, are Shaula, hnn?" He hoped to god he had remembered her name correctly, it had been ages since their last meeting.

Stepping a bit closer as to not seem unfriendly, he batted at a stray candy that had found its way over to his shaggy paws. His tail swayed as he nosed at a few more and scooped them into a pile, pushing them the best he could towards the rest that had already been collected.

"I see that," he laughed, "He seems friendly, though. All my little friend does is chase things around." He pulled a mock frown as he turned to glance at his own familiar still buzzing quickly in circles and chasing the beetle that had harassed him earlier. A sigh.

"Oh well. How've you been? Whatcha been up to?" His attention turned back to her, blowing a stream of air up in attempt to get it out of his face. "Keeping yourself out of trouble, I'd hope?"

( Damn it, I'ma have to shift my recent entry to insert this. Fits perfectly with her attitude change. XD Oh, and Shaula has her scar edit. Yeyz! biggrin )

It hadn't been until the male responded to her that it dawned upon her how... improper she was. For a moment embarrassment surfaced, welling warmth beneath the apples of her cheeks, staining her already coral exterior with a hue of deep mahogany. Yet, the color soon subsided: how refreshing it was for her be candid, to be at ease. It had only been recently that she was able to shed this false facade.

Amber pools waned, bowing along her lower lids: a smile with the eyes, "Yes, yes, it's Shaula, and I've... been well. Really good..." a soft chuckle, "S'been a while since I could say that truthfully."

S'been? Had she begun to adopt her bonded's peculiar way of speaking? Perhaps. No bother, maybe it would suit her. With a glance, she turned to her ever whirling companion. The little fellow had plopped himself atop of his newly constructed mound of candies and seemed to be giving jibberish orders to some invisible court of subordinates.

"Yes well, he is quite the character," and with a gentle heave, Shaula rose to her feet, peering over her shoulder towards Caden. Once the jingling of her trinkets had subsided, she considered his final question... head bending to and fro.

"... Out of trouble. Well... it's not as if I go seeking out. 'Just has a way of finding me on its own."

He grinned as she flushed, tilting his head just so in that roguish way of his. Caden couldn't remember if she had always been this sociable, but something about her just seemed different from the last time he had seen her. Either way he didn't mind, he rather liked this more open, calm demon that stood before him. He barely noticed her changed way of speaking, finding himself relaxing now that he remembered exactly who she was.

"It finds you?" he quirked a brow at her. "What's what supposed to mean?" Seeing his error immediately, he quickly covered it up. "Er... nevermind. You seem good, though." He flipped his bangs from his eyes, watching her intently for just a few seconds before his gaze escaped to look towards the sky that peeked between the leaves. He stared there for a moment, but quickly became fidgety and had to walk himself in a circle or two.

Why was he out here again? Since he had run into her he had completely forgotten...

With the mess now in a neat pile beside her paws, Shaula glanced it over: how was she to remove it from the woods? Leaving it was not an option due to the denizens rustling about. Perhaps Bop could re-ingest them? Or he could fly them off... so many possibilities yet none seemed appropriate. What was she to do? It was only after Bop began to unwrap one of the treats did her corporeal thoughts settle back within her. She had company! Roaming about in the corners of her mind... 'twas such a bad habit in the midst of conversation.

"Well... I try to be "good," but things have been... complicated ever since I was summoned. We just seem to be getting more entangled in this..." twirling a paw in the air, as if searching for the appropriate words, "... war, it seems. First a noble sabotages my amulet... than a serial killer..."

A quick shake of the head brought her to glance back to the pile of sweets. As if giving into weight that so heavily bore upon her, she dipped her claws into the small mound and fetched a bobble. The tangy delight almost burned her taste buds, yet it was most satisfying all the same. Now was as good a time as ever to indulge... at least just for the moment.
