I'm not sure who my favorite Victorian-era authors are, but I really like the modern Chris Wooding and the much-less-modern Victor Hugo. : D

Lewis Carroll.
Alice in Wonderland has been my favorite book since childhood.
I think I'll need to read more of his works later.

Lady Incinerate Lewis Carroll. Alice in Wonderland has been my favorite book since childhood. I think I'll need to read more of his works later. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books too, but I don't get why it is more popular than Through the Looking Glass. I mean Wonderland was nice and interesting, but Through the Looking Glass is simply genius! You really have to read it, it's absolutely splendid.

Victor Hugo, Gabriel García Márquez, Dostoyevsky, Bulgakov, Melville (I'm totally into Melville right now), Tolkien, Neil Gaiman.
I usually like dark, cruel, nasty books with a lot of Freudism, or parodies. Oh, and if someone comes near to me with any romantic female writer, I run.
