TYPES OF MATCHES IN WWE NEW GENERATION :
~Singles Match~
Also called the Normal Match, or a One-Fall Match, this type of match is the most commonplace of all. One superstar competes against another and attempts to win via Pinfall or Submission.
Any use of weapons, illegal holds (hair pulling, eye gouging, low blows, ect), or outside interference, or a general disregard of the Referee's instruction, will result in a Disqualification (DQ), and the perpetrator will lose the match. Superstars can also lose the match by, upon exiting the ring, failing to return to said ring within the referee's 10-count. In addition, any pinfall or submission hold MUST be broken within the referee's 5-count, assuming the superstar can get any part of their body to the ring ropes.
Each superstar is allowed to bring a manager or "enforcer" to the match, if they so choose, provided said enforcer does not interfere with the match itself.
NOTE: In a championship match, the challenger MUST pin the champion, or make him/her submit, in order to win the title. A count out or disqualification victory for either side will result in the Champion retaining their title, regardless of the outcome of the match. The champion also retains the title in the event of a draw. (This is referred to as the "Champions Advantage")
~Triple Threat Match~
Similar to a One-Fall match, but instead of two competitors, three superstars duke it out at the same time. However, only the first pinfall or submission is counted, despite there being three competitors.
In this type of match, there are no count-outs, and no disqualifications. Therefor, any number of competitors may stay outside the ring for any amount of time, and the use of all weapons and holds are legal. However, a superstar is still expected to release any submission hold or relinquish a pinfall attempt in the event of a rope-break; the referee will still administer his five-count for said break.
NOTE: In a championship match, the first superstar to win a pinfall or submission victory will be awarded the championship. The champion does NOT have to be involved in the decision of the match to lose their championship. Therefor, in order to retain the title, the champion must be the victor of this match type.
~Fatal Four Way~
Similar to the triple threat match, except there are four competitors, instead of three. All rules that apply in a triple threat match, apply for a fatal four way, including the one fall rule, no disqualifications, and the absence of the champion's advantage.
~Tag Team Match~
A one-fall match, where a team of two superstars compete against another pair. In this match, only one superstar of each team will compete at a time (the "Legal partner"), while their teammate (the "Illegal Partner") will stay confined to their respective corner.
In order for the Illegal partner to become legal, a 'tag' must be made, by the two partners contacting each other in their corner (hand to hand, hand to shoulder, ect.) The referee must see this tag for it to be considered "legal." Upon said tag, the now-illegal partner has the length of the referee's 5-count to exit the ring.
While on the apron, the illegal partner may not interfere with the match (holding, striking, or otherwise hindering the opposing team's legal partner), and will stay within four feet of their corner ringpost (A white string is attached to each corner post to illustrate this length. The illegal partner must remain within arms reach of said string at all times).
The illegal partner is allowed to break up a pinfall attempt, but must return to their corner within the referee's 5-count.
Count-Outs and rope-breaks still apply in a tag-team match; weapons and illegal holds by either the legal or illegal partner will still merit a disqualification.
NOTE: In a Tornado Tag match, both partners compete at the same time, with the first fall counted as a victory. In this match, there are no count-outs, and no rope-breaks.
