User Image Buka sighed, looking upward at the rain laden clouds that were looming. They were all that he could see- he'd managed to get himself into quite the pickle.
He'd been exploring the forest, enjoying his new found adulthood and feeling as if he could go anywhere he wanted- when he fell down this hunter's pit. In his defense it had been disguised very well; it looked like it had stopped being used a long time ago and quite a bit of dirt and leaves had covered the net. Now he'd been down here for what felt like forever, and it didn't seem like anyone was going to come save him. The dirt beneath him was cold and the sides of the pit were too crumbly to climb. When he'd tried he'd nearly caused a cave in and now he didn't dare try again for fear he'd end up buried alive.
Adulthood definitely didn't seem that great now; his wings sure would have been useful. For a moment he thought he heard thunder in the distance, but it could have just been his stomach rumbling. He let out a few more barks- hoping someone would hear- and laid down in the dirt.

They Try And Break Me

User Image

Revre slunk slowly through the grass, belly just barely brushing against the ground. Her blue eyes stared determined at her prey as she crept slowly forward. The cricket stood atop a blade of grass, singing it's mocks out at her from it's perch. She crept even closer, oblivious to the twig snapping under her paws. When she was a good few feet away she stopped, wiggled her rear, then leapt for the cricket. As she got mid-jump a loud bark caused her to turn her head and she hit the ground tumbling, ended up laying on her back when she came to a halt. With a huff she stood and shook herself off, noticing unhappily that the cricket was no longer around.

"Alright now, who went and ruined my pounce!" Revre barked out at the silence, ears perking forward as she puffed out her chest and waited for a reply.

Bula jumped to his feet. Had that been the voice of another Kuniku he heard? He wasn't doomed after all! "Hello?" He called out. He hoped whoever it was wouldn't laugh at him. Maybe they even had some food with them, boy he was starving. There were some roots sticking out of the sides of the pit that he'd tried nibbling on earlier in one of his more shameful moments, but they were covered with dirt and tasted horrible.
He jumped up onto his hind legs, resting his front paws against the wall of the pit and looked skyward. "I'm down here!"

They Try And Break Me

Revre turned her head to find the direction the voice had come from, ears swiveling back then forwards again. It didn't take her too long to pinpoint the general direction, and when she did she was trotting over towards it, her chest still puffed out indignantly. When she finally came across the voice's owner she found herself at a hole in the ground, scrambling back quickly lest she fall in herself. Once she was safe from falling in she inched closer to look in.

"Well now, so you're the one who made me loose my prey?" She eyed the kuniku then looked the hole over, her chest falling slightly at his predicament. "Looks like you've fallen into a bit of trouble here."

Buka watched the Kuniku poke her head into his view. She was clearly smaller than him, but she was the best chance he had at escape. "P-prey? I guess that was me." He gave a sheepish grin, wagging his tail. "Yeah... I was just walking around the forest and then bam! The ground was gone!" He explained, jumping as he said bam. "D'you think you could help me out?" He wagged his tail. He didn't have any idea of how she could help him get out, but hopefully she was better at coming up with solutions. "My name's Buka, by the way."

"That sounds like quite a bit of bad luck there." Revre looked down the side of the hole again, trying to gauge just how deep it was. She assumed this Buka had already tried to climb out, and it was obvious that had he it had not helped much. She straightened herself and moved slowly around the edge of the hole, stopping every few steps to paw at it's edge experimentally. The dirt was crumbly, possibly the reason he was still in the hole. After she made a full circuit around she stood, puffed out her chest and gave a wide grin.

"Alright Buka, I'll see what I can do to get you outta there. Revre won't let ya down!" With that she spun and darted off in search of something to help get him out, though she was unsure exactly what she was looking for.

"Yeah, exactly! Bad luck!" Buka replied, wagging his tail happily. Bad luck sounded a lot better than his own carelessness. He watched as she paced around the hole with a huge grin. She hadn't made fun of him yet, and it looked like she was definitely keen to help. Soon he'd be out of here and enjoying a huge meal!
The female darted out of his sight, and he called after her "Thanks Revre!" hopping back down on to all fours. He hadn't met that many Kuniku so far, so he hoped he was being polite enough. He tried to listen to hear what she might be doing out there, but all he could hear was the rustle of the leaves in the wind and bird calls. He yawned, and began to imagine what kind of amazing food he'd soon be eating.

Revre slowed to a quick trot as she looked around for possible items of use. There were some rocks, but rolling a rock into a hole with a Kuniku in it didn't sound like a good idea. She looked up at the trees, eying their branches and wondering if she could manage to get one big and sturdy enough. Getting one though seemed to be a problem, as the big branches were too high up for her to get, and she wasn't even sure how she'd break one off if she could get to any. A fallen limb seemed like the best bet.

In her search for one she darted from tree to tree, circling each one for any helpful limbs. It seemed like forever that she had been searching, and she was becoming more aware of an increasing rumble in the sky. The grey clouds drifted closer and if she didn't know what would happen if it started to rain on Buka while he was still in the hole. Just as she was shaking off the thought she came across a branch. It looked big enough, could be strong enough, but you never knew with fallen limbs. She jumped onto it and walked across it's length, pawing at ti as she went to test for any rot. "Well," Revre stepped off and eyed the branch skeptically. "Better than nothing I suppose. Doesn't smell rotten anyways." She shifted her paws for a second, readying herself, then bit down on one of the smaller limbs branching off it. With a quick wiggle of her rear she started to back up, dragging it slowly back towards the hole and Buka.

This seemed to take much longer than the search, and though she tried to hurry she had to stop every now and then to make sure she was going the right way. When she came back to familiar surroundings she stopped and looked around, moving slowly across the grass until she found the hole again. "Buka, I got a tree limb." She peered over the edge of the hole at Buka." I'll try and lower it in to the hole and then you can use it to climb out."

Buka watched the grey sky from his seat of dirt. He flattened his ears against his skull when he heard the thunder rumble, he really didn't want to get rained on as well as be stuck. And a pit full of water and mud didn't sound nice at all.
He tried to peer out the top of the hole, but as usual it was no use. Where had Revre gone? It seemed like she'd been away an awful long time. Had she given up on him? Buka began to worry, but tried to reassure himself. Surely if the rain filled the hole he could swim right out.
He thought about this for a moment, and then realised he was being stupid. If it rained he'd probably drown in sloppy mud.
He was about to give another shot at climbing the wall of the pit in desperation when Revre's head poked over the top of the hole. He'd never been so glad to see someone.
"You came back!" He said excitedly, wagging a tail. "A tree limb huh? I'm a good climber." He stood up, waiting for it to be lowered. He wasn't actually sure if he was a good climber, but he'd gotten himself stuck in a pit in front of this Kuniku so he wanted to at least seem a little tough.

Revre gave a sharp nod. "Of course I came back. I'll get the limb and start lowering it in, watch out so it doesn't fall on top of ya." She turned and hurried back to the tree limb, hoping this would work otherwise who knows what woudl happen. With a small huff she puffed her chest out again and grabbed the limb once more. It was going to work, she knew it would. It had to.
After backing up as far as she could, without ending up in the hole herself, she hurried around to the other side of the branch to push. She set her paws on it's end and leaned over it, back paws digging in to the ground as she pushed it forward. It was a lot harder pushing this than dragging it had been, but soon enough she felt it sliding forward. When nearly half of the branch was over the hole's edge it started to slide quickly down, knocking Revre back on to her tail as the end she was at bucked upwards. "Buka, are you okay in there!" She barked as she moved back to the edge of the hole, hoping the branch hadn't landed on him when it fell in.

Buka squashed himself as close to the wall of the pit as he could, watching the tip of the branch expectantly. He could hear the sound of Revre pushing it through the grass and it edged over the gap more and more. He was fairly impressed, the more he saw of the branch the more he realised how large it was.
Suddenly it slid down into the hole, and Buka leapt backwards to avoid it, ending up sprawled in the dirt behind the end. "Perfect!" He called up, righting himself and picking his way over to the end of the branch. He blew a leaf of his forehead he hadn't know was there until it dropped into his eyes, and then balanced all four legs on the branch.
It was on a bit of an incline, but the bark was rough enough that he was sure he could get a grip. He wished yet again that his wings hadn't left him so suddenly, this would all be a lot easier with them. He took a deep breath, and then quickly scrabbled his way up the branch, jumping off the end and onto the grass. Ah! Fresh air! He shook himself to try and dislodge some of the dirt, tongue lolling out of his mouth happily.
"You did it! Thankyou!!" He said happily, bouncing around excitedly in front of the smaller Kuniku. He was interrupted by his stomach growling. "You wouldn't happen to uh... have any food at all?" He asked nervously. "Only I uh, you know, I did have some but I... lost it." This was a lie, he hadn't thought far enough ahead to think to bring any with him.

Revre gave a small sigh of relief to see that she hadn't gone through all that work only to squish him with a tree branch. As Buka made his way up she backed away, to give him some room, and sat down heavily on the ground. All that work dragging and pushing had tired her out quite a bit, but she felt great. Like a hero in a tale saving a damsel in distress, only a little backwards. At his thanks she puffed out her chest again, grinning broadly as she replied "Oh, it was nothing really." It certainly would be quite a story if she found anyone to tell it to, though perhaps with a few beastly demons thrown in to make it more heroic a save.
At the subject's change to food she quirked a brow at him, one ear flicking back as she shook her head. "Nope. I was on the hunt when I came across you, but it got away. Wouldn't have been very filling anyways.." She huffed, glancing sideways back towards the trees. "There could be something in there though. Berries or some such.."

(Oh just a note, Kuniku never kill to eat xD)

Buka stretched, it had been very cramped down in that hole and now he was feeling a bit stiff. He yawned again. "Well, I came from a village on my way here, although I don't remember.... exactly..." He gave a few worried looks around at the surrounding forest. "Where I came from." he gave a nervous laugh. Just his luck, he'd finally set out to fulfill his dreams of being a brave adventurer and instead he was already trying to find his way home.
"I'm sure if we follow our noses we could find our way there quickly enough. They have the most delicious food, you should see..." he drifted off for a moment remembering such treats, and then snapped back. "Oh, that is if you want to come." She hadn't been stuck in a pit like him and could very well be happy with being out in the forest for a while longer. Buka didn't like the idea of being rained on however, he always tried to be in the shelter of some warm inn during bad weather if he could manage it.

(Ohkaaay, my bad
I coudl change it to like..berries and leaves or something. xD)

Revre perked her ears forward and looked around as well. "Well I haven't passed any villages lately, so it can't be in the direction I came." She quirked a brow as she looked back at Buka, noticing he had drifted off into his own head for a moment. With a quick shuffle of her feet she nodded in reply. "Yes, I suppose I can come along. Food sounds nice, and somewhere to stay out of the rain as well. Tree's aren't always reliable for that. Besides, I gotta make sure you don't fall in to any more holes." She chuckled.

(np! just letting you know for the future ;D)

Buka blushed. He'd gone and made himself look silly again, he seemed to have the worst luck when it came to making impressions. He puffed out his chest, trying to regain his dignity. "Well if there's any demons along the way, I'll take care of 'em!" He let her know confidently. He'd never met a demon, but he was sure it was highly unlikely they'd run into one so he probably wouldn't have to back up his claim.
Buka swished his tail, scanning the forest. He could recognise a few of the trees off in one direction, so he decided that must've been the way he'd came. The village he hailed from was quite large anyway, so surely it wouldn't be too hard to find. "Okay, follow me!" He said with a grin, bounding off into the trees. Although he'd looked like an idiot he was pretty sure he'd made a new friend, which put him into an upbeat mood.
