I am unsure if this could be an actual debate. But, I believe it'd be an interesting discussion.

So. I have grown to realize that a lot of Pro-lifers (-not all-.) base their choice to be pro-life off of Pro-life Photos of "aborted fetuses or Fetii."

For those pro-lifers that do base it off of photos. What happens when you find out a so called "aborted fetus" is discovered to be a still born or a fetus that died in utero and was then aborted so that it wouldn't rot? Does it disgust you to find that other pro-lifers would lie or try to deceive you and their fellow pro-lifers?

(The same question can be asked to pro-choicers. How would it effect you if a pro-choice leader mis-led or mis-informed you?)

An example of such:
Source

Quote:
A July 1992 LIFE magazine article, The Great Divide, reported that Reverend Robert Schenk, member of anti-choice coalition Operation rescue, attended a demonstration outside an abortion clinic in Buffalo, NY, with ?Baby Tia?, a 7-inch, gray-tinted and formaldehyde-soaked dead fetus. In the escalating madness of the crowd, the fetus was dropped onto the sneaker-trodden street. Authorities arrested Schenk and confiscated the fetus, which was taken to a coroner, only to be identified as an approximately 20-week-old stillborn. The article reads, ?Many pro-choice supporters in Buffalo are angry about the distance between their reality?what they see in the clinics?and the images the anti-abortionists present as fact. ?What they are showing to the public is a lie,? says Joni Ladowski, a nurse at a nearby clinic, as she unfolds a length of gauze. In the center lies what appears to be a clot the size of a peanut. It is a fetus, nine weeks old. ?This is an abortion,? she says.?

O_o

I have yet to meet a single pro-life person who bases their decision to be pro-life off of a photo of an aborted fetus.

Most of the pro-lifers I know simply value the fetus as a human life, equal to all others, and feel that it deserves to live.

This really comes out of left field for me. Because I know a lot of pro-lifers-- and NONE of them have been like: "Oh, that picture is so sad. Look! It's a child! I'm totally pro-life."

They may use them to prove a point, as in showing how human it looks-- but I for one hate those pictures, and find them entirely unnecessary.

A friend of mine was actually shifted because of photos. And, photos that were not stating the true of age the fetus in the first place (as in saying they were much younger than they really were.) I mostly see this from the younger generations who don't look up anything what-so ever. This is why I know not all pro-lifers base it off of simple photos.

I guess the real question here is about being decieved or lied to by others of your stance.

About the photos I'm with Mcphee, as for being decieved thats why I don't trust things without researching them. I don't just accept facts without making sure that they are true.

Maybe I am just unlucky of where I've lived and the people I have met. I wish everyone would make sure what they were taking in was/is true.

It's all in your perception, hon.

I mean, look at it this way: "It's not a child, It's a choice." is a lie, from the perception of pro-lifers. Although, from my own experience of being on both sides, I see neither side as morally sound, in terms of getting people on their side. I find using such photos disgusting, and wrong-- but in another vein, Pro-choice people sometimes portray abortion as the main solution to all your problems in life, without mentioning consequences, or things that may happen.

Neither side really makes me feel like I'm getting the truth-- but you have to pick one, don't you?

I wasn't really talking about "lies" through preception. I was talking about things that could be actually proven and were not subjective to opinion.

For Example: Someone tells a blind person that the sky is green and in all actuality, this person KNOWS for sure that the sky is not green. But, he/she decieves the blind person and tells them it's green anyway.

Whether it's not aborted, or it is, it's still showing a picture of a dead fetus, right?

And that's what an abortion produces.

It may be a little older, it may be more formed, but an abortion produces a dead fetus, as the only purpose of the procedure is to end the pregnancy by killing the fetus.

Not saying it's right, but, really... They are showing the product of an abortion, no matter if it's a little older, or not aborted at all.

To pro-choice people, it's not a human being either way, so what does it matter?

The point is, is that it's misleading. This wasn't about what either side believed in. It's about being decieved -intentionally- by important advocates. It matters because if you lie about something like the gestation of a fetus, you can make it seem like a clump of cells looks the same as an infant. Which draws on emotions.

People will be decieved on all sides of any debate, its obvious if you've ever read a story from a conservative newspaper and then a liberal one. There are vast differences, it is always important no matter how much you advocate one side to go and find an unbiased account, otherwise the amount of spin or deception on any one topic can be ridiculous.

Dr. Nathonson admits to intentionally fabricating the numbers of people who died by "back alley abortions" to sway the NOW and the american public. He also admitted to publishing false surveys to give the pro-choice cause more validity. In addition he admits "laughing" when he and Lader came up with the slogan "Who decides, you decide" and "My body, My rights".

There are plenty of shinianigans from the pro-choice side as well.

Oh, I know. I was just using the first example that came accross my mind. Do you have a link to were Nathonson admited this? It's interesting how people begin to start lying for their own selfish reasons.
