OMG! OMG!! *happy dance happy dance*

I am now...the newest instructor at Studio Shuvani!!! IIIIIEEEE!!!!

Starting on August 17th I will be teaching Beginner's Bellydance at my instructor's studio!

The convo went like this...

Me- Uck... XXX shouldnt be teaching...She's not a great dancer, she doesnt have good technique at all...and she's teaching people wrong. It's totaly unfair to her students because they dont know any better.
Jez- Yea...well you know there's no real certification for bellydance instructors...(Unless you count Suhaila's and it's like thousands and thousands of dollars...) so anyone can teach.
Me- I know, it just sucks because all her students are being taught wrong.
Jez- You're not that far from teaching yourself you know.
Me- I could prob'ly teach a beginner's class...I dont know if I'd feel comfortable teaching anything more advanced.
Jez- Wanna teach my monday classes? I totaly dont want to do it.
Me- Really?
Jez- Yea...it's really tedious and I'm over it. *Laughs*
Me- OK!

I'm a little worried because the girls taking it are total newbies...one of them has tried to be in our troupe and her dancing is just...terrible. ;_;
She has no natural grace or sense of rythem....and she cant even do a down hip, her entire upper body moves when she does it. It's like she has no joints...
So apparently, the rest of the class is like this too. They're "very needy" and "need their hand held the entire time."
I'm not know for having the highest level of patience...So we'll see how it goes. It's just going to be "this is a down hip...can you say down hip?" sort of class.

I'm still excited tho!!

Just make it drills. start slow and throw in some challenges. Thats what my tribal fusion teacher does. I'm sure you are a great instructor.

pushing them to do their best is the way to go i think.

My frist class was pretty fun.

I apparently have 4 students, tho 3 are only know to show up 50% of the time. >_> So my first class was a one on one.

It tured out to be a good thing. The woman I've mentioned in the pervious post is the only one that shows up ever week.

I do believe however, I've gotten to the bottom of her learning issues!

She's a physcial therapist, so she responds well to being told how a movement is broken down on a muscular level. (Thank you Oliva from Zafira for teaching this in a workshop! heart )

Her rip-slides improved with in seconds. It was totaly amazing! I was so excited I was bouncing...and I dont bounce. My husband (my class drummer) looked up because he thought I was just acting and was like "Wow! That's 100% better! Awesome job!"

There's apparently hope for the hopeless! I'm so happy I figured her out. lol
