There had been whispers of a general unease within the population of the Mizimu'tungika- while Kinamisa was not told anything of worth, still being considered an "outsider" although she had called Mizimu home for years, Kinamisa had picked up a few things by being still and listening hard. It paid to remember her scouting practice sometimes, mostly to keep the toes of young cubs in line, but with this growing sense of something off... Kinamisa found herself resorting to old habits.
Which was to fortify the most valuable assets, the cubs that she was minding for the time being, in the most secure place possible. Also considerably the most boring as well, and the cubs seemed to know this. Kinamisa would have a splitting headache by the end of the day.

What had kept the pride on edge managed to seep the same way to ears of little ones. What each cub's reaction had been, however, varied with their building perspectives of the world around them; to the eldest royal child, however, it meant an endangerment to her way of life, and most importantly, her mother and father. She was in a struggle with herself between the desire to seek out the cause of the disturbances herself, and the idealistic choice her parents required of her along with her siblings to stay safe.
Whatever the origin of the grim outlook was, however, the royal daughter felt irritation come as the setting each day seemed to change with the finicky moods of the adults; one felt it would be safer here, another thought the heart of the pride would be more secure, and more had their opinions to offer in front of the oppressed litters that had to be watched. It was hard escaping the view of the minders now, but on the occasional slip, at least one of the more cunning cubs was able to achieve freedom for a few minutes.
Times were growing harder by the day, she noted as the black star-marked form of her main minder passed her view. The girl's head turned towards her other siblings and a couple of others who had been napping--out of boredom, most likely, for there was nothing else to do really that hadn't been done before.
"Jan," she voiced sweetly to a nearby cub that she oft saw but never really spent a lot of time playing with (though enough to adopt a short nickname for him), "Why's everyone sleeping? Is that why your father's fat? Because you guys don't do anything other than sleep all the time?"
A smirk laced her petite figure as the attempt at a joke sprouted forth from the royal child's own idleness. White hair flicked upwards as the nearby male cub lifted his head from the ground which he had preoccupied himself with during the silent hours that passed. He narrowed his eyes on Mfuondoka, pausing briefly from being unsure of what a suitable response should be. He didn't do anything to her! Why did it seem like she wanted to start something? He then made an effort to bend his head over to examine his own body, then directing his gaze towards that of his resting siblings when his self-inspection was through. They all weren't that fat... were they?
"N-no... I'm not asleep," he began, feeling more uncomfortable by the second as he gulped before continuing, "My dad's not as big as yours..."
He then turned towards Kinamisa, eyes trying to thwart watering up from the offhand comment. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then closed it almost as soon as it had opened, thinking it was best to not have the boring minder defending his own honor--and that of his siblings. His head then turned around quickly, seeking his closest sibling's attention.
