It was time to be on the ground again. The tan lioness yawned and stretched her body in the sun. The tree den was nice, but it was getting crowded durning the night with eight cubs in the basin.
When her spine gave a satifying pop she pulled herself out of the stretch and started humming. She needed to go find breakfast soon. She was hungry and thin from her cubs suckling.
She never thought she'd actually be a mother. It seemed so surreal, but satisfying. She didn't mind the three cubs that came to join them, after all - they were Mauja's.
Hunting could wait, she decided. She sat and looked up at the tree den with a small serene smile upon her face.

Tiegan was a branch kind of girl.
With all of her limbs hanging off the sides, she contentedly sawed logs until something woke her up. She twitched, rolling her shoulders forward as she brought her paws up to make a pillow for her yawning head. It was much too early to be awake, but here she was.
The young cheeton opened her eyes as she yawned again. Looking over her shoulder she found that it wasn't a sissy or brother who woke her, but mommy.
Tiegan liked it when her mommy hummed like she did. It made her feel safe, no matter what the lioness might be up to, and it would have put her back to sleep if she wasn't so keen to know what mommy was doing. She stood up woozily, giving into another yawn before backtracking her way to the mass of sleeping bodies. Tiegan knew she'd stepped on someone's head, but she really didn't care. They should have been awake too.
"Momma?" Tiegan whispered. Hesitantly she looked down at the ground and frowned, pawing hesitantly at the bark. Without too much thought, the cub jumped.

The lioness gave a small laugh when her cub jumped from the tree. She wasn't worried - cubs were bouncy! They needed to learn how to land on there feet somehow, so the gods made them... bounce.
She continued humming and watched which of her cubs decided to jump. She blinked. Ah, yes. Tiegan. The lioness' grin quirked a little. All her cubs were oddities, but she loved them dearly - after all, the family itself was rather odd in it's own right.
"Morning, Tiegan," Nafsi purred out with her green eyes focused of the cubbin.

Tiegan landed with a roll. Her rump hit the ground first and she took off, going head over feet until she landed just a ways from her mother. It wasn't the kind of start a great adventurer wanted, but she was on the ground. By herself! That had to count for something.
"G'morning, momma." The cubbin yawned, rubbing her eyes with her paw. "Ewww, it gots mud on it!" She stuck her tongue out, muzzle pulled back into disgust as she tried whiping the gunk off her face. "Momma, help! Tiegan's blind. She can't see!"

A look of amusement crossed Nafsi's face, she pulled the spazztic cub closer to her. "Hold still, little one," Nafsi told her cub to wash the dirt from her little girl's face with her tongue. The taste of dirt was never appealing, but she could endure it - it wasn't so bad.
"Better, baby?" She asked as soon as she finished cleaning the first away from the cubbin's face.

The little cheeton struggled, but grudingly consented to the wash. "Eww, ewwww! Momma tongue," she giggled, despite her protests. It tickled!
Tiegan leaned back against her mother and nodded, her head tilted up to see her. "What'cha doin' today? Wanna play?" Even though she was being over run by siblings, sometimes all she wanted was a little parent time. Sometimes with daddy, sometimes with mommy; today was obvious.

Nafsi couldn't help but let a smile trace her maw. Her children were so adorable. She shifted, nuzzling the cub a little. She listened to her daughter calmly. "Well, I have no plans," Nafsi informed her little one.
"So I can play," she explained unnecessarily. "What do you want to play, dear?" she asked sweetly, grooming the cub a bit when she saw a dirty spot.

Jackpot! Tiegan squirmed, swatting at her mothers maw playfully as she bounced out onto her paws. "Tiegan wants to play....hrm. Keep away! Tiegan wants to play keep away with.....this rocks." She scooted a little stone infront of her. "It's magic, so mommy has to take it from Tiegan, kay?"

Nafsi gave a small giggle, and nodded her head a bit. "Alright, we'll play keep away," Nafsi said with a small smile, shifting a bit so she was sitting. "Lets see just how long you can keep that rock away from your mama," Nafsi said slightly teasing.

Tiegan stuck her tongue out the side of her mouth, and nodded. It was a game, then. A challenge! "You gots ta play good, mommy." She didn't want to be short changed by half enthusiastic play.
The little cheeton nommed the stone with her fangs until she had it in a comfortable spot. Her little tipped tail flipped up, signalling her sprint even before she had taken off.

Nafsi pulled herself up from the ground achingly slow, popping the bones into place before she would make for the chase. She wouldn't be able to run otherwise.
Suddenly, she took off, lopping behind her daughter at a semi-moderate speed. It would give her muscles a chance to loosen as well as give her youngest birth-child a chance to get far enough ahead of her.

Tiegan looked over her shoulder, pausing to run in place until her mother was up. This was going to be so fun! Maybe she could even- "Yeep!" The little cheeton dropped the stone out of surprise, then bent to scoop it up again before taking off.
Her dark legs thumped against the ground, wobbling here and there with youth. She ran around a tree, then found a fallen hollowed out log. Deciding this was a great hiding spot, she ducked in quickly.

Nafsi gave a small chuckle as she watched her daughter dash away. She snorted a bit, watch for a second before beginning her run to the fallen log. These inhabited the area she was in - in her small cluster of trees.
Ah, but the little cub disappeared. The Female paused, sniffing the air, not realizing the log was hollow. She could smell her little girl, but not see her...
