"Somehow I don't think you're only avoiding Dayo, these days." A familiar, husky laugh and a mug of hot klah was set in front of Uuni, Kesslan's body brushing against the girl's in an almost hug as she reached around her. Pulling away, the blonde joined the candidate at her table, an easy smile playing around her mouth.
It was early, earlier than Uuni's usual time for breakfast in the dining hall, something Kess could tell by the older girl's body language. Kess, of course, had been up for a couple of candlemarks now, and had decided to drop by to see who was around. Lucky break for her, considering the way the two had parted last.
"'Morning, lovely, why no smile?" Being a dragonrider was doing interesting things for Kesslan's confidence. Perhaps it was the doting Condoroth, or their precision in drills. Either way, it was working wonders.

Uuni was half asleep when she heard the voice. Really, she smelled the klah first; her nose followed it with half a care that the rest of her body was still asleep. The groggy look towards Kess was late to follow and she merely let out a breath of air in response.
Great.
She hadn't slept all night. Unlike the few weeks previous, she'd gotten her gusto back. Unfortunately, she was paying for it, especially now that she'd found out she had more chores to do than she usually did. Including the dreaded Runnberbeast stables out in the heat. Today was going to be fun.
"It's cleaning day," she murmured in response. Which meant that, even though Dayo hadn't managed to get their schedules reorganized, she had to pick up all her junk off the floor.
There were several curses that could be uttered, but she didn't say anything, instead dragging the cup of klah towards her body, taking a large sniff and readjusting the strap on her shoulder that had 'fallen down' earlier.
Finally managing a decent, bleary look towards Kess, she added. "How'd you find me?"

Kess simply nodded as Uuni ran through the upcomming horror of her day, idly reaching out to adjust the brunette's clothing and brush some hair from her face without a moment's hesitation. She seemed perfectly at ease, drinking from her own mug [juice, actually, she wasn't much for caffeine], and grinned at the question, apparently quite cheerful.
Lowering her voice, she leaned in conspiritorially, dark eyes mischevious. "I followed your scent." Shifting back with an [if possible] even larger grin, the greenrider looked amused, rather than judgemental. "To be honest, I heard some of the male riders talking about you."
She wouldn't get into the content of their discussion, but it had led her here. "Do you know how adorable you are when you're drowsy?" Hard to tell if Kess was teasing or not. Either way, she was having a grand old time.

It seemed to take Kess's first drink before Uuni had enough mindset to follow suit. The word chores was still ringing in her ears before Kess got one of those looks in her eyes.
Had Uuni been more awake, she might have understood the joke portion of it. Instead, she let out a light groan and said, "I don't smell that bad, do I?"
But the male riders had been talking. Oh. Different type of scent. More likely she'd have Condoroth hunt her down that way in any case.
"Kess, . . ." she started, before blinking and giving her slightly cocked jaw and furrowed brows. "I'm sorry, wait, what? I'm perfectly awake. I could run to Ista Hold and back." She couldn't even do that on days where she really was awake.
"Where'd that klah go?" She was surprised to find it still in her hands and she took a sip even as she continued to look rather annoyed. "I'm not tired," she repeated, though it was a hopeless cause to convince Kess of this fact. "Where's your tag along?"

"Oh, really? I'd love to go for a quick run if you're interested, stretch out these legs, you know." A surprising amount of banter was coming from the usually quiet girl [perhaps to make up for Uuni's lack of chatter] and she leaned forward again, her nose brushing the other girl's neck.
"Bad? Oh, far from it." A deep inhale and she shifted away again, polishing off her juice and interlocking her fingers on the table top. "Tag along? If you mean Condoroth, she's out harassing the older dragons before their riders take them off for big kid practice, if you mean your girlfriend, she's going over starcharts with your favorite roommate."

"What about legs?" Uuni asked, looking over at Kess's as though that were the topic of conversation and getting a rather nasty chill to go with her tired brain. She was about to give Kess a long discussion on why it was bad to do that sort of thing around her after she'd had a wild night, but she was off chattering again.
Uuni contented herself with licking her lips idly, dipping an index in the cup of klah and using it to get just a taste.
"Sounds like she'll be an easy flier," Uuni pointed out wearily and then had to stop and do a double take.
"I don't have a girlfriend." Honestly! That was almost offensive. Her two least favourite people in the world knew each other. Life was going to be hell.
"You know, if you, Avery, and crazy clean freak all got together, you could represent almost all of the skin color variation." It was early. It had just come out. "I forgot why that was important."

Kess didn't mind the long look to her long legs, but she did unlace her fingers and tilt her chair back with raised brows as Uuni attempted to stumble through her sentences. That girl needed to do more sleeping and less sleeping around, that was certain.
"Mmhmm... Well, then, your not-girlfriend and Dayo are discussing star charts." Drumming her fingertips on the table, she confirmed the easy flyer comment [Kess was not afraid of the skies, be sure of that], before poking a bit of fun at Uuni.
"Yeah, well, I'd include your skintone in that, but I figure you're more than occupied with helping riders land at night as a beacon to be able to get together with us."
Pale girl that she was. Like a glowbasket, as the blonde had once said. "Hey," Her voice was soft again, insistant. "How about we trade? You take a rest in my weyr, and I handle your first chore?"

Uuni wasn't exactly sure what Day and not-girlfriend were doing discussing star-charts. Maybe they were going to do some sort or strange, bizarre ritual where they cured each other's problems and thereby returned the perfection they thought they deserved. That sounded perfectly acceptable, yep.
"That's right. The men of the weyr have to feel sufficiently satisfied." And some of the dykes, too. Wait. . . what was she saying? She'd give up a night with any of them for a group of those three girls. But Kess would have to stay out for more than one reason.
Lost in thoughts of just how she'd manage that one, especially considering she wasn't entirely sure on Dayo's sexuality, Uuni barely caught onto Kess's voice for an uncountable time that morning.
"You'd handle my first chore?" Her voice was light, curious and full of hope. Narrowing her eyes at Kess, she added. "What's the catch? Dayo and Avery aren't hiding in there ready to snag me for cleaning, are they?" Uuni wouldn't put it past the three of them to be plotting, vindictive individuals.
And Avery had Kess by the ear, or was it Kess had Avery by the ear? It was one or the other.

"I don't say anything I don't mean, Uuni. Not ever." That crooked half-smile and Kess was on her feet, empty mug in hand as she gestured toward the weyrling quarters.
"Not that I know of, actually, though I wouldn't be surprised. I'll walk you there for protection, mmn?" A grin at that thought and she reached out to take Uuni's hand, helping her to her tired feet.
"I actually kind of miss candidate chores, anyway."
And they were off, Kess refilling her mug before leading the brunette down the hall.
