The other teen smoothly swallowed the brown liquid down, chuckling at the serpentine one's curses while his throat tingled. "It is everywhere, amigo."

He paused to pour himself another shot, but instead of drinking it down, the Fa'e carefully set it in the palm of his hand. The sunshine around the glass intensified as Nao continued to speak.

"Without magic, we as a race would be extinct, and as gods, we would have been able to rest peacefully for eternity. Life and death both blessed and doomed us, depending on who you ask."

Suddenly, the tequila began to simmer. The corner of his mouth twitched upwards in a barely contained smirk. "Today, I celebrate my new magic and the start of a new chapter."

Not that he knew exactly what that new chapter was going to entail, but it sounded much better than simply bragging about his newly mastered magical knowledge.

So serious! It was more than a little interesting to Guelherme, who had previously only ever seen Naolin as a flippant, if insightful, companion. There was still something that the teen felt was going over his head, and so he compensated by carefully pouring another drink and setting it ablaze before drinking it. It was going to burn anyway, so it might as well do something interesting!

He was surprised by the hot liquid that flashed across his face, and he let out a quick oath of surprise before he guided the flame to the back of his hand to rest there while it cooled. He had to take the true burn from it before it could join the rest on his head, for safety reasons. "New magic? Not something I can say I have seen much of since coming here." Strange magic certainly! "But it is something to celebrate. It is not worth living a life again, if you do not make it better, sim?"

More and more Guelmy was learning that somehow, as a powerful being in his past life, things had gone horribly wrong for him. And now, he was put into this life on this blasted miserable planet, with that b***h Indiamara as his shadow to make things right. Only sometimes, he wasn't sure that what he did in the past was so wrong! "Though in truth, I am not so sure a second life is that well."

At the flaming one's comments, an honest smile lit up Naolin's features. It was rare that he found someone of like mind within the Fa'e community. Most thought it was a blessing to have been yanked out of whatever eternal situation they had gotten themselves into, but not him. At least, not in such weak circumstances and at random by a silly girl.

"Under the circumstances provided, a second life is a horrible idea for most of us. I know that I am much weaker than I once was, and it's all thanks to that b***h of a Fa'e Airi." He quieted for a moment, frowning as he rolled the shot glass between his thumb and index finger. "Her blood is much weaker than a true god or goddess, and thus... So are we. It's like taking a king from his castle and putting him in a pig pen, and telling him to be grateful he's alive. They expect us all to be ******** happy. Well, I'm not."

He punctuated his rant with an additional shot before sighing deeply, a wicked sort of grin creeping along his lips.

"I have found out how to gain that strength, that power, back to us..." Naolin trailed off, grin now in full, cocky bloom. "Human sacrifices... I had forgotten about the old rituals simply because of this world's morality issues..." He paused, leaning in somewhat. "It is how I have this new magic. A new magic I plan on taking back home. Would you like to come with me?"

"It is the bodies." The blood was unimportant, there was always blood to be found in other places. In his tribe, the sight of blood was not foreign, and indeed to be weak at the sight of it was a mark of shame in male or female. "How can a god be what he was when he is not in his own body? We are tied to weak mortal cases." Certainly it had occurred to the serpentine Fa'e that had he been in his 'true' form, he would not have to be in this cold place.

Guelmy had always been pleased with Naolin's thinking, and this pleased him best of all. "I had not thought of that! I should have, but I was taught to not consider such dark magic." Indiamara probably knew all about it. There was no way that priestess b***h mother of his had held her position without some use of dark arts. Derisively, he sneered in memory of the place he had come from. "Those cadelas, I would be useless to them had they taught me anything." But he wanted to learn. And learn he would. One day he, and even Naolin should he care to come, would get revenge on his home world.

Pouring another drink, though he already felt the drink affecting his system, he raised it with a wide smile to his friend. "I will come and learn. To power?"

"True," he agreed, appearing thoughtful for a moment before sitting back and listening to his companion. "To power," the hummingbird echoed, clinking his shot glass against the other before letting the liquid roll down his throat. Unlike Guelmy, Nao's ridiculous metabolism made it difficult to maintain a pleasant state of drunkmindedness. However, this was a skill he had, in fact, perfected.

"But the blood..." He paused, returning to the previous conversation as an explanation suddenly dawned on him. Glancing intensely at Guelmy, he let out an 'oh' of realization. "You don't know how we, as Fa'e, are created, do you?"

Without waiting for him to answer, Naolin cleared his throat and began to explain about Airi, how she created the Fa'e, and anything else he could think about that related to Airi and her dirty blood.

Shaking his head, the firey young man stretched out on the grass, interjecting at the beginning of his friend's tale. "I know of nothing. I was brought, told I was of Fa'e, and then nothing. I have never known much of Airi." If he had known, Guelherme's bias towards the female nature would have probably sent him straight into the end of his second life out of sheer spite. It was a subject of towering resentment for the mboitata reborn.

All of the other Fa'e he knew were born into their power with an anchor in the other Fa'e. Not born to be given to some b***h priestess, and used as a tool in a religious battle of semantics and political power! Then wrenched from their place in said world, and dropped onto a cold rock where the language was almost unintelligible, and the people even less so. He finally knew he was different, but he didn't understand why, even in the slightest.

It did not generate warm feelings towards those responsible, in any form. As Naolin continued on, Guelherme could feel the rage building, until he finally burst out in a line of incredulous language. All of it bad. "I am born of some child's BLOOD? Not even of true power, but the b*****d experiment of a girl?!" it trailed off into garbled cursing again, switching between his two languages with remarkable fluency.

It was simply WRONG.

Naolin allowed his friend to vent his frustrations, watching and listening curiously as the serpentine Fa'e slid between the two languages. It reminded him of Nicolai, among other people.

When he became more annoyed than amused, Nao carefully placed a hand on the other's shoulder, attempting to silence him with a simple look. "It's not something that we can change, especially in our current forms. Maybe if we become Ancients..."

Which was why he needed to go to Mexico. He had a several thousand year old unfinished business to attend to, and Nao believed that Guelmy could help. Or, at the very least, the other teen could get away from his crazy guardian.

"Until then, we must become stronger and more powerful, so we can eventually defeat all of those who stand in our paths... Airi included." He laughed pleasantly, stretching his wings out lazily.

"We need to get you on that flight," he mused out loud suddenly, clapping his hands together.

Fighting was something he understood well, and was good at. In a grove of trees, the firey Fa'e could be nearly unstoppable for a short amount of time. The recharge took some time, but with his flexibility and sharp mind, it was quite easy to avoid sight during the charge. Becoming an Ancient would be a powerful state indeed...he could even possibly break away from that fat priestess in such a state!

Wouldn't that be glorious? One thing stood out in his mind, however.

"Flight?" He looked over his shoulder, then back at Naolin. The hummingbird Fa'e had no issues with flight and in his bird form was more than maneuverable. "I am not very well done for flight."

Nao blinked at Guelmy, cocking his head slightly with his brows pushed together as he tried not to laugh at his friend. "Not even I could fly that distance... No, I meant flight with an airplane." He made a face of displeasure. Metal, after all, was never meant to remain airborne and fly, much less unnaturally carry people.

"It's the only way to get there." Not only, but the only way that didn't take months. He did not have the patience for months.

A few months ago, Guelmy would've been embarrassed at this lack of knowledge. These days, misunderstandings were commonplace. Sighing resignedly, he shook his head. "I should have known it was a strange thing. How do I get on such a thing?"

The way Naolin looked, it probably would not be easy. Not one bit. "I suppose you could not have carried us both, and if it is the only way, I must do it."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 8:24 pm

No. No he couldn't have carried himself plus a flaming man over a foot taller than himself. Naolin hoped to whatever gods were left that Guelmy had not seriously considered that an option. Sarcasm. Yes, that shall be the explanation that the hummingbird would go with.

"You buy a ticket," he answered simply, running his tongue along the inside of his lip plug, causing it to jut out at an odd angle. "I'll call up the travel agent and have him add one more to the travel plans. You can pay me back later."

It was well for both young men that neither was a mind reader, for Guelherme had been considering just that. It seemed unrealistic to him that everyone except himself had infinite amounts of magical power. Anything was possible...unless you were Guelherme! His generally rough nature was totally at odds with this utter innocence in the ways of power. He wanted it, but he didn't know a thing about it!

Quite amusing.

"I am sure I can work for you. There are many things I am good at, especially disposing of fat, unwanted priestesses. I have had many years to make good plans." The smile was razor sharp. "I do not know much, amigo, so you will have to perhaps help me." It was not easy to say such a thing, for even the snake man had a modicum of pride. Hopefully, this would be no obstacle.

The other Fa'e's comment made Naolin chuckled abruptly, but honestly. "If I ever am in need of a fat, unwanted priestess, or any other body type of unwanted priestess... You shall be the first I will call." He made a motion of 'Scout's Honor', which he had seen on some TV show (or something like that).

In seconds, his face went from peals of laughter to a thoughtful serious thanks to Guelmy's last statement. He understood what it had taken for the other teen to say such a thing, as he himself thought similarly to the snake Fa'e. Respect points for Guelmy. "Do not sell yourself short," Nao finally said, reaching over to pat him on the shoulder before pouring him another drink.

Hopefully, Guelmy knew -something- because Nao had a feeling that this trip to Mexico wasn't going to be just a walk in the park. He hoped his friend was a quick learner.

Reaching for a drink of his own, Guelmy shook his head and tucked the statement away for later contemplation. He wasn't aware he was selling anything, let alone himself. And he wasn't very short. Confusing language, these Gaians had.

The rest of the night passed in a haze, which was, perhaps, the best thing that could happen for either of them. Certainly it would be last party the two would have for some time to come.
