xp but to help celebrate you can send goodwill messages that will be transmitted to the nearest
Earth-like planet outside our Solar System likely to support life.
The planet – Gliese 581d – is eight times the size of Earth and some 20 light years away (194 trillion km). It was first discovered in April 2007. Due to its size, it is classified as a ‘Super Earth’.
Messages sent during the 2009 National Science Week will arrive in the planet’s vicinity by
around December 2029.
And if anyone is interested last year on 4th of Feb NASA transmitted the Beatles "Across the Universe" in the direction of the star Polaris, 431 light years from Earth.
This was done to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song's recording, the 45th anniversary of the Deep Space Network (DSN), and the 50th anniversary of NASA. The idea was hatched by Beatles historian Martin Lewis, who encouraged all Beatles fans to play the track as it was beamed to the distant star.
