Hermes laid in the shade of a tree from the glaring hot sun. His tail swished lazily from side to side while he stared off into the distance. He liked how the world looked different from so high up in the branches. Always new places to discover and treasures to chase after. His mind switched from topic to topic, flashes of memories. Some he was fond of, others, not so much.

Hermes ears perked at the voice of another, popping all the bubbles of thoughts. He looked down from the branch and saw the owner. It was an older cat. Hermes tilted his head.
'He doesn't seem to be dangerous... Just in case.'
The growing kitten meowed "Hermes... Nice to meet you." His eyes were big with curiosity. "And you are?"

Hermes jumped down from the branch and landed perfectly, he sat down and wrapped his tail around himself. Blinking he looked up to meet Falke's face. He was a lot taller than he looked on the ground.

Hermes frowned at the question and replied "I want to be here. The view is nice."He studied Falke and noticed his weapon, frowning some more he asked "what's that for?"

Hermes blinked away his frown. The older cat's voice was soft, unlike the battle roars and sorrowful cries of the local animals in the area he was living in. "I was just wondering why you needed one" he said and pawed the air. "Where's your territory? Why do you need a weapon to defend it? Is that all you use it for? What else can you do with it?" and blurred out a lot of questions.

"Aww..." Hermes' ears drooped a little with disappointment. He was hoping to have somewhere new to explore. He gazed at the sword thoughtfully. Falke had said it was for catching prey too. Maybe he'd be able to catch bigger food then. He himself didn't have a weapon and never really thought of gaining one of his own. "Did you make it yourself?" he asked. Suddenly images of the older cat poofing it out of nowhere became very interesting. "Did you use magic???" he asked, his bright face gleaming with excitement. Who knew what his guy could do! Maybe he could teach Hermes' to finally fly!

He'd been trying for a long time but it never really worked. He had tried to jump off of high places. Hold big leaves in his paws or even just closing his eyes and wishing really hard. Nothing seemed to work. "Can you fly?!"

Hermes' sucked in air when he heard Falke say that cats couldn't fly. "We can too!" he said in a louder voice then usual. "Just haven't figured it out yet... We gotta be able to fly... We gotta" he insisted in a quieter voice. "Birds can do it " continued the little kitten, "so why can't we?" Hermes' puffed up his cheeks in hopes that would help his argument more plausible and starred at Falke intently.

Hermes' face fell. "Wings... Of course..." he thought to himself. "Oh! But but, the squirrels! I've seen them, they could fly too! And they most certainly do not have wings!" he was standing now, excited to have thought of a new plan. He started pacing back and forth thinking as hard as he could. Suddenly, he froze and sat back down. He turned to face Falke again. Why did he care about trying to convince his cat that he barely knew, that cats could fly. He must sound insane. Hermes' took a deep breath, "I'm, a... Sorry about that..."
