They are already healers, caster DPS, and melee DPS, would you rather sacrifice your viability as a melee DPS for the ability to tank?
With changes to druid talent trees it takes a lot more than just shifting forms to be an effective melee DPS as well as a tank.
On top of that do you really need yet another tank class? Between paladins, warriors, druids, and death knights that's 40% of the classes that can be tanks, two of which can also be healers, and all of them can be DPS. I just fail to see the need for another tanking class.

They would have to do a lot more than just add two talents to make shamans a viable tank class. And the original idea was for enhancement shamans to be offtanks but it was scrapped. That explains why there's that dodge talent etc.
And druids have forms. Shamans have just mail. They would have to change the basic shaman class mechanics just to give them a mechanic so they can gain a health/armor modifier. Shamans are just fine as DPS/healer hybrids XD

Shamans are just fine as DPS/healer hybrids XD Actually the dodge talent is used for many classes such as combat rogues and hunters as well as parry talents. This is to to give more survivability while solo leveling and in PVP. Shamans ability to use a shield and therefor block was what gave them the possibility to tank. But you are right the idea was scrapped in favor of making them more of a DPS/healer class.

yes but even though we druids only have leather/cloth when we are in bear form it is increased by 250% so it is as strong as mail. and if you are going to give a vote make it fair. giving the chance i think a druid tank could beat a shamen tank with little to no trouble. we can get out of most if not all traps and we can switch to DPS with no trouble and we can hi tail it if needed then come back and rez ( we can get out faster then most). so don't be dissing a class that is so versatile.

While I'll admit druid tanks are good, I hate playing them

Druid tanks have no means of grabbing aggro once their target runs away from them and Demoralizing Shout is on cool down. It's pretty gay. I used to play one BC and got account closed by Blizzard T.T
And the reason they didn't want Shaman's to tank is cause their good raid healers smile

Zeroswings why did they have to remove all possibility's for them even to come close to tanking? come on they had to add 1 or 2 things to the enhancement tree. its be like a bear tank but cooler cuz we wear mail. i find this kinda lame. Are you some kinda idiot? Shammys were NEVER good tanks pre bc. They are even worse tanks now, I can understand maybe if the shammy is 40, and a warrior is like 38, and you want to do SM, and the shammy has more armor, but otherwise, no.

Oh gawd, this thread made me flashback to vanilla when shamans would get yelled at for having rockbiter on. They're already very versatile though, and we have plenty of tank classes.

This is a stupid thread. I'm gonna make one called, BRING BACK ROGUE BANDAGE HEALERS! and see how many posts it gets, same concept. The concept of stupid and ridiculous ideas. Vanilla wow, had more bad aspects than good ones. BC was the best, WotLK sucks, and with cataclysm, it doesn't sound like WoW anymore. WH40K is totally beckoning.

IMO BC was the Best but the most frustrating
WoTLK was the more of the superior due to being Very EZ, and Very Hard Take Yogg 25m once you down him you pretty much downed the most hardest boss, and it just gets more ridiculous when you have to No keepers it.... back in BC, things were too Ez, but you had to have everything go according to plan AKA -_- CC ******** HATE CC ******** CC
Fury DPS LFG Heroic Shattering Halls.... Nvm... not even possible.
