((To understand this opening, you must first read the backstory to Kaya's finding of Shaoilin. Journal will be up soon.)) Small tufts of fur swayed rampantly against the heavy wind that passed through the forestry at that moment. It was morning, and Kaya had just awoken to find herself well, exactly where she thought she wanted to be. "Uhh, okay then?" That was the only response Decca thought appropriate. She was a weird one alright. "I'm glad to see you're okay!" he beamed. "It's so lovely here. Thank you so much for helping me." She smiled sweetly, though briefly, then quickly made haste out of the bed which she layed upon. There was an entire world out there, just waiting on her. "Hey, I didn't catch your name yet!" the dark pup called out. "Oh, right!" She stopped in her tracks after landing on all fours. "Sorry. That was rude of me. I'm just...finally...I don't know. At peace. Finally about to explore the world, ya know?" She caught herself rambling. "My name's Kaya." Another grin. "Kaya. Alright." He paused. "Kaya it is then..." Before he knew it, she was gone. "See you later, mayhaps!" she had said... A few minutes later Kaya found herself in a patch of berry bushes. None of them looked too appetizing, but they were very pretty all the same. "Hmm." A small squirrel happened to wander into the middle of the path just ahead of said bushes. An evil but playful grin escaped her maw. As if like a cat, she lunged for the creature and slammed both paws together, only to find however that she'd missed, crossed her arms, and landed squarely on her chin. *Oomph!* "Well that was no good." She picked herself up and regathered composure. "I'll get it next time." she decided.

The spotted pup gave a wonderful yawn as she rolled over, front legs outstretched, toes splayed every which way. She took a moment to bat a paw at the fluffy red blossom that swooshed back and forth just inside her field of vision. She was deep in the middle of a bed of them, and red tufts of blossom hung lazily in the air, floating on the breeze as she knocked them free of their stems.
As one of the blossoms landed on the tip of her nose, the young femme sneezed and rolled to her paws. There was a light grumbling in the pit of her stomach, and she realized that she hadn't bothered to hunt all day. Giving one last blow to a blossom to her left, she rushed off, as if daring the flowers to give chase.
Moments later, she was out of the flower field, and slunk low to the ground, reaching out with her mind. It was true, she thought of it as cheating, but she was really hungry! It didn't hurt to try it this one time, just to see if it was worth doing.
Very subtly, she prodded around, finally feeling a living creature. Its thoughts were strange, and different. Very much like Ghede's held a different 'flavor' but not the all the same as the human's either. From the quickness of the thoughts, she assumed it must be a rabbit or squirrel, and crept forward in the direction that the thoughts and feelings got stronger.
Before long, she had visual sight on a fat brown rabbit, and quickly terminated her link between them. She was fully aware of the sight of snow from Oberon's mind that day, and didn't want to 'see' this animal's last thoughts if she successfully killed it.
Moving forward again, ears flat against her skull, the pup went as silent as she could, paying close attention to where she was sliding each paw. Just before she got too close, she sprang, landing squarely on the rabbit. She quickly sunk her teeth into its neck as she held it down with the weight of her little body.
As the animal died, she stepped back to observe it. Guilt was creeping in for taking more than she could possibly eat alone in one sitting, but there wasn't much she could do about it now. She bowed her head, imitating Ghede's nightly ritual before he ate, and spoke a quiet 'thank you'.

It wasn't long before nature made its call, a churning grumble of her stomach. What was a girl to eat around here! She thought of the fox, the deer, and even the occasional goat her mother had so miraculously (to her) brought home. How she missed her mother. "Mama..." Soft spoken whispers and half-empty memories. That's what was left now...
Black and white pawpads crept through the forest gracefully, her sparkling blue eyes noting everything along the way. For she'd never seen a place quite like this before. It was beautiful. And best of all - there wasn't a human in sight. It really did feel like home. Mother had been more than just onto something when she'd discovered Shaoilin... A few minutes passed and at last she reached a clearing. What looked to be a field decorated in astonishing bouquets. "Oh my..." This day was getting more and more spectacular by the moment. She gingerly made her way over to the flowers, lying on her side when finally at said destination. It was then that yet again her stomach decided to warn her of the importance of lunch. And soon.
By a stroke of fate, a faint but clear sound of snarling and ripping came rolling through, leading into a dead silence. "Oh?" She paused. "What was that?" Bringing herself back to all fours, she stretched slightly before making her way towards whatever had made the noise. Perhaps it was dinner.

The little she-wolf was satisfied, to say the least. She had hunted, on her own, twice now successfully. After she had said her prayer, she dug in, laying on her belly with the rabbit between her paws.
She was gnawing on a bone, eyes half-closed, when she felt a hungry curiosity enter her mind. She wasn't hungry, and she wasn't exactly curious about anything remote at the moment... Something wolf this way comes... she thought to herself, cautious not to broadcast it to the other mind.
She stood and took a step forward, standing over her rabbit and for the moment forgetting the guilt she previously felt about killing something more than she actually needed.
She would wait. Whatever it was, it was coming her way, and with the interest of food in mind. She wondered why this wolf wasn't more cautious itself, but figured that she would find that out in a moment's time.

As soon as she caught sight of the spotted pup, Kaya stopped for a moment. Hopefully not eluding to the fact somehow of her existence. For she was unaware of the minds that could see into others. Straight through to their very thoughts. As hungry as she was, she wasn't about to theft another wolf's kill. That was nothing necessary. Immoral in her world, to say the least.
Finally deciding to make her debut, the femme stepped forward. Softly, sweetly, she passed a smile as she came up behind the spotted pup's location. "Hello there." she said. "Don't worry, I'm not here to take your meal." A pause. "Uhm, nice to meet you?"

The pup knew when the other wolf came up behind her, but stood stock-still, not wanting to give away that something was strange about her. She waited until the other spoke, and tried to pretend being a bit startled when the other wolf finally did speak up.
The voice was small, and possibly timid. The spotted pup slowly turned, her ears coming forward as she set eyes on the pup. She was very pretty, and it was hard for her to hide her excitement. Another pup, just like her! Well... sort of.
"I'm Shiva." she smiled, a big friendly grin. She glanced at the rabbit beneath her, and stepped backwards. "There's way too much for me to eat alone, please!" she indicated that the other wolf was welcome to share. She backed up just a bit more, so that she wouldn't crowd the other pup if she did come forward to eat.

Kaya took much amusement in the spotted one's fiasco. It seemed as though she thought her to be shy. "I'm Kaya." she grinned as well. "I guess you could say I'm new around here." Without hesitation she grit her teeth tightly against the rabbit's fur and managed to retrieve a large chunk from its carcass. She would have said thank you, but now her mouth was full. It was pleasing that it turned out to be a friendly encounter. While she was by no means exceedingly shy, or even remotely shy for that matter, or precautious, this place did not seem too dangerous. Much to the contrary.
Every juicy, chewy, mind-numbingly blissful mouthful sent absolute waves of joy down her spine. Even the food here was like ec...eca....whatever it was the word her mother used once or twice. Her tail played happily from side to side, and after a few mouthfuls, she looked up. "How long have you been out here? And hey, you've got a beautiful flower on your head." Then she went back to eating.

Not shy, not cautious As these things wafted across Shiva's mind, the wolf felt slight alarm. There were dangerous things in these woods, even though she herself had not met them yet, she just knew.
Due to her own past, her parents running off in the night and leaving her alone, she didn't really want to ask why this wolf was on her own. Maybe she would hear it, if Kaya had a rogue thought of her parents.
She watched the pup eat, her guilt at killing such a large critter nearly gone because the two of them could finish it up nicely. Shiva took another chunk out of the animal, savoring the wildness of it.
"Here? I was born here." she was curious about the question - and excited of the prospects of somewhere else. She smiled at the comment about her flower. "Thank you." her face grew hot. It had been the first gift Ghede had given her, and he had explained that it would never wilt or die. She thought about its everliving properties every once in a while, but never could figure out the secret.

After finishing her share, the black and white femme gave an internal sigh of relief. Allowing some time for the food to digest would be vital if she was to efficiently encompass its fruitful energies. "Oh, that must be wonderful." She stopped herself. It wouldn't do much good to elaborate on her history to just any random stranger. "Say..." she pondered. "...Do you think you could show me around?" While she felt very much capable of fending for herself, and very much durable albeit a pup, she wasn't stupid. That's the mistake her mother had made. Thinking too much so that she was invincible. It would be the death of a wolf.
Kaya was a reserved wolf, but you wouldn't guess it at first glance. She carried a cheery composure, adorned with smiles and playful paw-swipes. Her disposition was sincere, eloquent in nature, and peaceful. She was slow to anger, but a menace to those that would cross such a border. As for now? Kaya appeared now as probably a bored puppy with a smidge of hyperactivity peeking from behind her hunger's satisfaction.

"It's nice here." she answered, though she hadn't been anywhere but with Ghede. Her traveling would be mostly done when she grew up. She was eager to see it all, but she also knew that as a young wolf, she didn't have much going for her if she went it alone.
At the request, she struggled inwardly. The only place she really knew of was the lake, and the river that spilled from it and eventually turned into home. Shiva wondered how Ghede would react to her showing up with another pup.
She decided to go for it. He wouldn't mind another pup, and she didn't have to stay with them. It was all up to Kaya, in the end. "Sure." she spoke after a while. "There's a lake near here that birthed a river... I live on the river south of here." she added, so that Kaya could steer them in the direction she was interested in going.

Her fur rustled gently in delight at Shiva's response. Now she had a tour guide! Soon there would be no part of the landscape uncovered. She would make it her goal to know the ins and outs of every location, be it a lake, stream, river, mountain, cave, or underbrush. Exploration was a key element of survival, after all.
"Great. I most appreciate it." Limbering up for a moment, she began the tread towards the direction Shiva had mentioned. It would be nice to have a place to reside and call home in a place so beautiful as this...

Shiva wondered briefly if she should forewarn Kaya about Ghede. It would be strange for the pup, she realized, if they were to come up on a human so fast and without any previous mention of him.
"The lake sounds a good idea," she started, first following and then taking the lead. She was feeling good now that she had eaten, and been able to share with a kindred spirit. Feeling energized after her meal, the young wolf eased from their walk into a trot, all the while urging the pair into an even, yet quick, pace.
"It's a bit north of here, and the river naturally spills southward, towards the ocean." she left that open, wondering if all wolves knew about the ocean. Lakes and rivers were a common thing in a wolf's life, but few actually were able to witness the majesty that could be the endless body of water, so salty and clear.
While she had yet to see it herself, she had noticed a new trick that had emerged in her young brain - the power to see what others had once seen. She had yet to have that talk with Ghede, but felt as though she were about to rush headlong into it. Possibly while Kaya slept, if she decided she could safely do so within the strange den where Shiva lived with her human.

Kaya kept up with Shiva's pace with ease. While her stomach was full from her fill, she herself had the energy but calmness of a majestic eagle, soaring above the lands. One two, one two, onetwo, onetwo, onetwoonetwoonetwo as they went, the femme listened carefully to what the spotted she-pup had to say. "Ocean?" she questioned. Her mother had never mentioned such a thing. Not in all of her tales of travelling, exploration, and detailed encounters of the Shaoilin territory. Ocean, ocean.... Oh? Shin? No, that can't be right. Silly me...
There came a moment at which Kaya thought briefly of what Shiva was doing out here all along. Would she meet her family? Did she have one? Or perhaps even, though she hoped not, another human lived on these lands. Or did this pup really survive without anybody, just as it would seem to be her own destiny...

Hm. Shiva weighed the option of 'showing' Kaya the ocean very carefully. She hadn't seen the wide open body of water herself personally yet, but she had a small idea of what it looked like after seeing it out of Oberon's mind.
She slowed momentarily until Kaya was side-by-side with her, and gently introduced the picture of the ocean into Kaya's mind. "It's like this..." she explained shyly, before moving along again. There would be time for questions as soon as they reached the lake.
In return, she heard the other wolf wondering about Shiva's own past, where she lived, who she lived with. It was intriguing being able to hear others very thoughts.
As the pair reached the water, a sparkle of glee flashed in the spotted pup's eyes and she sped up. She ran straight up a large rock that had rested half in, half out of the water for years, and sailed off the edge with a gleeful yip. For a few short moments the pup was airborne, and then, with a splash, disappeared underwater.

Something very strange happened at that moment. An image - a vision - creeped quietly into Kaya's mind. Although she could not make out what it was, she had bigger questions than what was the ocean for now. Keeping pace, she made a dead stop upon reaching the landscape. It was more gorgeous than she could have ever imagined. Pristine, luscious, endlessly beautiful. These words did this scene no justice...
"Wow...This is...stunning!" she spoke, just before watching the spotted pup leap lengths into the water down below. That looked like fun! So without hesitation, she followed. Up up up, aannndd! Kaya realized she probably couldn't swim. *Splash!* Refusing to panic, she flapped every muscle she could manage to try and reach the shore again. After moments, she managed. It could have gotten ugly, so she was thankful, at least. "Well... At least that was fun!" she said somewhat nervously, trying not to look -too- stupid. Shaking her fur dry a little, she found a breezy spot in the rock's shadow to curl up under.
