User ImageSo he'd talked to his aunt about how to go about lurking as a ghost, how to scare threats away from the pridal lands; hopefully he wouldn't have to put them to use. Something told him he'd run into something tonight. He didn't know if it were good or bad, but he knew it sent a tingle down his spine and made the hairs raise on his back.

He stalked in the ever present swirling mists, keeping behind trees and looking around with narrowed eyes, grinning a bit more. What's going to happen today? he thought eagerly to himself as he jumped up onto a fallen tree, claws digging into the moist wood. He himself was fairly damp, but that was a good thing, he loved being damp or wet.

He heard something, a twig snapping and a scurrying of paws which made it sound like a little animal; what kind, he didn't know, but it wasn't another lion. But a scent did hit his nose, something he wasn't used to, and it put him on edge. Something was nearing the boarder. Was this the something he had been feeling all day?

Malika heaved a sigh as she continued to walk. She wasn't sure where she was, the terrain was hardly familiar, but a part of her didn't care. She was out trying to figure things out and as a result she found herself leaving her former homelands, the pridelands, behind her. Now she was in fresh territory, something that was oddly comforting for her.

She paused in her walk to close her eyes and inhale deeply. The smell of the land around her was sucked up quickly before being expelled just as fast. She could smell the scent of many a lions but at the same time it was faded and faint. That itself was confusing and she shook her head.

It was nothing to concern herself with, if she kept moving and proved herself to not be a threat everything would be fine.

Wouldn't it?

Would it indeed? That scent was getting closer still, and it made the Ghost anxious. Still, the first rule was to observe and figure out if this presence was a threat or not. Maybe he could get a chance to talk to someone outside of his pride. He hadn't done that in so many months. Caide jumped off the tree he'd been on and stalked towards the scent, tail flicking in excitement.

It was his first patrol; he'd been trained up until now. So it was time to prove his worth. Again, he kept to the shadows and the mist, and in the distance, just beyond the mist, he caught a small, small flash of movement. It was big, he knew, like another lion. But male or female, he wasn't so sure. His nose told him female, but he'd been wrong before. That had been hilarious to everyone but him. His siblings made fun of him for so many days following that. Good thing it was just training; otherwise he'd really screwed up. He wouldn't now. "I can't screw up," he whispered, watching the mist curl with his breath as he ducked to hid behind a really low bush.

Malika couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, it wasn't a threatening feeling just an uncomfortable one. She furrowed her brow as she paused and looked behind her. "Hello?" She called confused. She frowned, her tail flicking behind her nervously. She was used to be on her own, running around without any real direction, she hadn't done it for many moons but still. Perhaps she had wandered into pridal territory, perhaps a pride that she was unwanted in.

Maybe it would be best to just leave the area quickly.

She started to walk once more pausing only when she thought she heard a voice. "Excuse me, is there someone there?"

--

He didn't sense a threat from her, which made Caide a little happy. Ok, more than a little happy. But he had enough sense about him to not just walk out there. So, he'd answer back, "I'm sorry if I've scared you." His voice wasn't as deep as it could be, since he wasn't quite an adult yet. That awkward cusp again.

It was after he spoke did the gray and white male step out from the mists, in front of her, grinning softly. "I was watching you. Seeing if you were going to be a threat to my Pride," he said as a way of explanation. He wouldn't answer too many questions about his pride; he wasn't sure about her just yet. Of course Caide knew he made her nervous, the way she was standing, walking, breathing. He'd come to adore figuring out emotions from the ones he'd watched.

--

When whomever it was that had been watching her replied she turned, body tense, ready to flee if the need arose. "Oh," she replied when she saw him, just an adolescent doing their job for their pride, nothing to be too worried about. At least right now. "It's alright," she told him with a small smile. It wouldn't hurt to be friendly.

"Ah," she began. So she had been right about wandering into pridal territory. "Would it be best if I left?"

--

He shook his head at her question and sat down comfortably, eyes darting to the mists that swirled around his paws. "It's alright to stay. Just wander no further and you'll be fine." Caide's tone wasn't threatening or anything, just stating a simple fact. He'd had to train on that for a long time.

"I'm Caide. Be relaxed. I'm not going to hurt you or anything unless you give me reason to. But... from what I've watched, you don't seem the type," he grinned and looked the white lioness over. She was pretty, that was certain. She nearly blended with the mists, which meant she'd fit in nicely if she joined.

--

Malika nodded, she understood that. "As long as I don't venture into the area you emerged I will be fine?" She asked letting her violet gaze to drift up into the mists. Truthfully it'd be easy for her to disappear in the fog if she really wanted to, but then there was always the problem of running into unwanted things that could lurk.

"I mean no harm, I'm simply a traveler who has happened to stumble upon your pride it seems," she replied shifting her gaze back to him. "My name is Malika'eusi, it's nice to meet you." She told him smiling again.

--

"Malika'eusi.... Malika for short, hm?" He asked, arching a brow and gave another grin. Honestly, it was so easy to please this lion it was almost amusing. He watched her again, examining the delicate looking markings around her eye and smiled a bit more. She was simply stunning to the male, for some odd reason. He'd never seen a nearly pure white female before; not even in his family.

"That's right, though. Don't venture where I wandered and you're golden." He gave her a wink and a laugh before laying down and stretching out. "Where do you come from?"
