I have always been a fan of NBA Live. However 2K Sports was making the greatest basketball game on the market year after year while I wasted my money on another disappointing NBA Live game. Last year I bought NBA Live 09 and I didn't really see the differences between 09 and 08. For one the dunks sounded unrealistic and commentary was recycled almost. I then bought NBA 2K9 and loved the game. I admit it could have used improvements and well I'm here to tell you all about both NBA 2K10 and NBA Live 10. I'm not one to bash on a game but point out its flaws. I want you to voice your opinion. I will post screenshots and details about the game. Details and information is subject to change though.

Comparison

NBA 2K10

Features:
* New crossover styles for players.
* Special moves for players.
* All new customization: haircuts, shoes, gear(sleeves, tape around fingers, etc.)
* Players before and while on bench are in warm up clothes.
* Click link to read more information on features. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_2K10
Advantages:

Deatils coming soon.

Disadvantages:

Deatils coming soon.

First Looks:

"The first time you hit the court in NBA 2K10, something might look a bit different. Yes, you'll notice things like the improved player likenesses, including animated faces, better skin textures, and greater lighting effects. But you might also notice a sense of space on the hardwood that simply wasn't present in previous iterations. As developers put it to me, that's because the proportions between player size and the floor had gotten a bit out of whack in older games, resulting in players that were slightly larger than in real life. The team took a look at all of the player models in NBA 2K10 and made size adjustments across the board, with the result of having a slightly more open feel to the play on the court.

Of course, correcting player proportions is just one of the issues addressed in this year's game. As gameplay producer Rob Jones told me, the team wanted to address animations in a comprehensive way this year. To that end, Jones said his mo-cap team captured something in the realm of 9,000 animations during the mo-cap sessions for 2K10. And while not all of those animations were entered into this year's game, a good chunk have either replaced older animations or been added to the game. As he put it, if an animation is pre-NBA 2K9, it had less than a 50 percent chance of making it into NBA 2K10. Part of that new animation philosophy had to do with providing further definition between players. Naturally, a point guard will have access to a different set of moves than a massive center, but developers didn't stop there. They also wanted to capture the differences between how a 7-foot player moves from how a 6-foot-9-inch player gets around the court. As a result, Yao Ming will move like Yao (assuming he ever plays again, that is), Nene will move like Nene, and Steve Nash will do his thing."

Overall Thoughts:

Well overall I think both will be great games. However I still do not like Live's cartoonish look. 2K has improved on customization and has added a lot more detail to the game. We will have to see if they improved on player's faces. Andrew Bynum looked like he sucked on a lemon and Yao Ming looked constipated last year in 2K9. I know I'm picking up NBA 2K10 so post your opinions and vote. Lets wait and see for more details. I can't wait for October.

This is a great thread. NBA 2K10, I hate Live since the gameplay is horrible.

Well I'm not much of a graphics person and I love games with great gameplay on it. I don't think I'll be buying any games this year unless they change the games.

Yeah true, people enjoy diffrent things about games but I'm sure NBA 2K10 will be awesome. I definetly think NBA 2K will continue to improve and become the Madden of basketball.

2k series just is plain and simple the better basketball simulation. They have the NBA game down better than any other game.

I'll probably be buying both, unless Live sucks again this year.

I think Live is going to be on it's game though.

BTW, there is one big feature 2k is hyping through the moon right now and Derrick Rose is on the cover.

Link!

August 26, PSN and XBL 5 bucks for it. It's basically a demo also people are confused about the one player. Some think that you can only make one player and the demo ends...but Gamespot says you can only UPLOAD one player and if you UPLOAD another player it replaces the previous one you had.

Who knows why you have to upload your player in the first place, more will be be revealed Thursday.

There's no way I'd buy both, too expensive.
This year will be the first time I try 2K unless my parents get me Live mistakenly for X-mas.

This will also be the first time for me to try a 2K game. That would suck if your parents actually buy you live instead of 2K.. lol. Put sticky notes all over your parents' foreheads saying 2K10 so they can't mess up. biggrin
