So, hubby talked me into agreeing to loan out our car while we were on vacation to a co-worker of his that was in need.

The Conditions:
No smoking in car
Be responsible
Pick us up from the airport when we return

Well, we land in Seattle and turn on the phone and first thing, Ray gets a text from the guy saying that he took a nap and just woke up! We were mad because senior chief apparently let him off shift early with enough time to shower and head out to get us. We live 2-3 hours away from Seattle mind you. We were PISSED!!! Especially since we had just spoke with him on the phone during our layover in Vegas and he assured Ray that he would be there! So, we check into getting shuttle bus tickets home...no go because all buses were fully reserved for the remainder of the day and with huge waiting lists to top it off. That left us stranded. So Ray calls the guy and demands that he get his a** in the car and drive asap to get us. We ended up sitting in the USO which thankfully was quiet, private and comfortable. Not to mention, we were very hungry and they provided us free food.

So the guy finally arrives...

I'll start with the messiness. So he shows up and the car is a mess. I had cleaned it inside and out and top to bottom the day before we left town. I noticed crap and debris on the floor, and brown chocolate looking stains on the back bench seat. Not to mention it smelled like s**t in there. He also didn't take care of our cds since they were all doubled and tripled up crammed together in the cd sleeve. Now they are scratched and smudged with who knows what. Talk about no respect for others belongings right? I'd also love to know where he was driving it at to get mud all over it and countless dead bugs all smashed across the front and windshield like I have NEVER in my almost 3 years of being here have seen before. I've gone months without washing it and it had never looked so nasty before. We actually took it thought the wash today and the bugs are still caked on! stare

Cosmetic Issues...

The steering wheel was shaking pretty bad the entire time I was driving from the airport to a rest stop that was about an hour away from home. I commented on it saying that it was NOT doing that before. He said that maybe it had something to do with the tire that was starting to lose a tiny bit of air. Tire my a**!!! I know cars well enough to know that statement to be nothing more then total BS. Turns out when I was going to the bathroom at the rest stop, he tells Ray that some person almost smashed into the front end of our car and to save it from severe damage he cranked the wheel and ended up hitting the curb with the front left tire. The impact broke off a small part of the rim/hubcap piece. Now I honestly believe that he was probably going faster then he said in order to do that sort of damage when he was making the turn and for it to mess with the steering wheel. We're both really mad that he didn't call us that same day and tell us what had happened. I honestly believe that had I not made a comment on the shaking accusingly towards him that he wouldn't have told Ray what happened. I discovered today that part of the front grill is now loose too. Not enough to come off, but enough for me to notice.

So we still both very angry at everything he did and didn't do. That he chose to take a nap instead of doing what he said he would and be there for us after the huge favor we did for him by loaning him the car. He should have arranged another ride for us and called asap to notify us of the change. Not promise to be there and then give us the ol' FU. He should have called and told us about the near accident and the damages as soon as it happened. He should have respected our possessions and kept it nice for us. What really made us burn was how he kept on trying to talk to the both of us the entire drive back like everything was great and we were all friends and so on. stare

Never again! I will be damned before I ever allow Ray to talk me into loaning the car out to ANYONE! He agrees with me now that it was a bad idea in the first place like I had said before we left. Never ever again! scream

Eeesh you got everything right here!
The guy's attitude was BS
his excuses were BS
The car should have been clean,
your stuff should have been in tip top shape,
he sounds like a crappy driver to have all that poo happening to your car.
Tell me he's at least paying for SOME stuff... mostly for the damages done to your car.

Exactly! He is paying us on the 15th the cost to repair the damages. Ray went and got the car fixed yesterday and kept the bill. We'll make darn sure he pays us first thing.

A car is an important thing. Didn't realize that till my mom gave my brother her car so he could keep going to work and he basically trashed it. It's scratched, it has so many problems my mom never had the FOUR years she's driven it, and it smells like udder crud.
Sad part is, if my brother gets in the Coast Guard soon I'll get that car and then have to fix everything up after him.

Eesh, talk about neglecting something totally awesome and basically makes life go on!

But ehem, yea. I don't think I'll be loaning out my car to anyone unless I know them really well and know that they're a good driver.

*hugs you, Ray and the car* Has he paid the bills yet?
PostPosted: Sun Aug 16, 2009 12:35 am

NO! scream

*stomps foot in irritation*

So...he said he's pay on the 14th and then for some reason, he didn't. So, he was supposed to pay on the 15th but when Ray called him, he said..."Oh, I can't today since I'm in Seattle. I'll pay you tomorrow."

I got really angry at this. Since I don't agree with the guy pushing back the date that he said he pay us by. If we don't get the $ tomorrow, then Ray is going to corner him at work on Monday and make darn sure he doesn't leave without paying up.

Woah hold up, this guy is a navy guy? You're kidding!

Pfft, that's bullcrap. He really ought to pay up. Now I see why people go to court. Usually the court shows show stupid stuff but this is serious >_>

Woot! He finally did pay up late last night! Him and Ray had to stand on watch together and he finally forked it over. He is a Navy guy. >_>

Aha xD I literally laughed out loud for you! I'm glad you finally got the money!
Eesh, I told my mom about what happened and she says its sad that someone in the Navy is so irresponsible like that. Usually when they're put into the military they grow up, FAST.
