//Some of my friends are Wiccans. Ofcourse I have no problems with this. Now my friend has some tarot cards and he says that if someone other than the owner of the cards tries to use them they will stop the cards from working, hence only the owner of the cards can get a true reading for someone. What do you guys think? Can anyone use the cards or can only the owner use them with a true reading?//

well, it depends on HOW you ue them... you see, getting connected with a deck of Tarot means putting your energy into it. alot of users prefer to have only their energy affect the cards they use. some prefer to cleanse the cards after every use. others only use them non-magically. (i tend to do that, since i don't like messing around with higher forces... >.> back when i would summon Faeries with mine i'd never let anyone touch my deck. and nowadays i tend not to let certain peopl touch them who have a habit of summoning things, especially if they don' realize they are doing it.)

Admittedly, I’m not familiar with tarot cards. In all areas of belief, I have found the belief itself to be very powerful. So if your friend believes the cards with no longer work for him, they won’t. Energy follows thought.

As a general rule, you are not supposed to let anyone touch your ritual items and than includes Tarot. My mate bought me my Tarot deck for White Day this year, but he has not touched them since because of this rule. Another think you are supposed to with your deck or anything else used in ritual is have them blessed and charged and then placed in a box, bag, or wrapped in a cloth that has also be blessed and charged with the purpose of keeping out all foreign energies.

That is interesting as the people I've seen who do tarot actually want you to handle them so that they will give information about you in the reading. Atleast that is the info I got about it. So then is this just a bunch of bunk, or is it once again merely the belief that it works for them makes it work that way.

it is differences in approach. the cards DO take imprints of energy (as do all things) and some people don't like that, while others prefer it.

I've never heard that rule, but then again I'm a solitary practitioner of my path. I think it's silly and stupid honestly. I've had others shuffle my deck so that my cards to best assist in trying to show me what they need to tell me that the person is asking about. However, I have heard of people who can draw the energy or magic out of a deck which renders them completely useless. I have yet to meet anyone of this nature but I have met something sort of, what I call, a black hole.

I have yet to meet anyone of this nature but I have met something sort of, what I call, a black hole. This very much. I have two tarot decks, one, a well charged.... uniquely energized set, and one that is mine. if possible i always have other shuffle before a reading. But then i am not Wiccan. I'm a Shaman.

I have a set from when I went to Salem, though reading how they work is interesting and i wanna know, i feel like such a neophite and utterly useless when trying to deal a hand so i've just left it in it's nice case in my father's old suitcase for now...
but one day, I want to try read it for someone, after all the help she's tries to give me~

My husband has a Phoenix Deck, it's not the same as Tarot. When he reads, he has the person he is reading for shuffle the deck, before the draw. He always gets spot on readings. It doesn't seem to affect accurate readings when he reads for himself. When the cards are not being used, he keeps them in a box, on his shelf of his most personal stuff.
I was told a long time ago that if a deck of Tarot cards are given as a gift, then the cards will be more dependable to "give" accurate readings. It had something to do with the cards being charged with the positive energy of the act of giving.
The same person who told me that also said that if a person is going to use cards to read for their own self, then they should not let anyone else touch the deck. She also told me that is wise to keep a separate deck for using when reading for other people, but not absolutely necessary. She is adamant about not even letting other people even see her personal deck. She keeps the deck she uses for anyone else on her coffee table. If you were to sit in her living-room and just pick up the deck to look at it for a second, when you set it down, she will just pick it right back up to start a reading ("If it's OK with you).
