Mischa was having one of her typical days - which was to say

she wasn't doing much of anything at all. Humming slightly to herself the little mare flounced across the valley with no clear destination in mind and her thoughts placed - like always - firmly in the clouds. Wouldn't it be wonderful...the little mare thought to herself as her eyes tracked a wayward butterfly...if I could live the life of a butterfly? Eating nothing but sweet nector, days filled with flowers and pretty colors...

Shaking her mane in happy startlement as the butterfly flitted by rather closer then she had predicted. Such happy carefree little creatures they were! A happy giggle escaped her maw as the bug flew back and nearly landed on her muzzle, and she danced backwards without really paying attention to where she was headed.

Eacles had a surly look on his face as he thumped along the valley

in an unhurried and far from graceful fashion, he'd made his way up rom the beach over the last fews days - because lets face it that golden jala was probably pretty ticked at this point.

Just recalling his fit of earlier mischief had the ill tempered beast cracking some resemblence of a smile, A ear flicked towards a dopy looking black and golden mare as he passed behind her.

"Stupid mare"

He muttered to himself as he heard her off tune humming

"Can't even get a simple son..."

Eacle trailed off as the mare suddeny lurched backwards - giggling like some sort of lunatic over a stupid bug and nearly crashed into him.

"WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING!"

He thundered at her in anger, whipping himself around to glower at her.

Mischa jumped foreward as the strange Reya stallion shouted at her, in all honestly she hadn't even heard him come up behind her - she'd been lost in her own thoughts as ususal. mother always told you it would get you into trouble she reminded herself.

"Well I'm so very sorry...but theres no need to shout"

She responded turning to face the clearly furious stallion, her voice and face open and sweet - she was willing to give the steed the benefit of the doubt after all she had just nearly run him over - and perhaps he was having a bad day.

"No need to shout?"

Eacles responded with a nasty expression on his face - a quick glance at teh mare infuriated him - she was regarding him like - like some angry youg colt, trying to placate and chastise him at teh same time! How dare she! Spitting mad eales drew himself up and advanced on the mare.

"I'll show you something to shout about!"

The wind of his speed streamed through his mane and whistled in his ears. Today was another bright and glorious day; not too hot or too cold, and full of promise. The company helped of course; he was still traveling with Sunil. How long had it been now? A few suns he supposed, he hadn't really been tracking time. However long it had been, it seemed both only a moment ago and a lifetime ago that he had first seen the sleek handsome stallion. Amazing how swiftly life could change, how you could go from being lonely, and uncertain to joyous and confident. He felt as though he could take on the whole world today and...

"Sunil!" Helios screeched to a halt as a voice raised in anger reached his ears. After a few moments of casting around he spotted the speaker, and the one he was speaking to. "Look! I think that mare is in trouble!" Without another word, the young Ichsa sprang away towards the damsel and her aggressor; they would show that Reya a thing or two! What a horrible brute, threatening a lone lady like that. Oh they would deal with him, they would deal with him swiftly...

As he drew closer, Helios felt his heart rate pick up, and not just from the effort of galloping. What is the Reya was a competent fighter? Might he not lose his life in a fruitless attempt to save the gold-marked mare? No, no he would be fine; it wasn't as though it was alone. Between them he and Sunil could deal with anything. There was no reason to feel afraid, none at all.

Sunil was quite busy ensuring that the sun hit his pelt in just the right way, neck arched and tassels flashing as he traveled alongside Helios. The purple dappled steed was quite good as far as company went and Sunil simply couldn't ask for a better traveling companion.

Sunil!..the screech brought his eyes jerking about as his friend halted and twisting his head this way and that found the source of Helio's proclaimation. He lifted his head in a hero like way and opened his maw to state that yes they should indeed intervene on the poor creatures behalf...but his efforts were wasted as Helios had already sped away towards the two figures.

Aware that if he didn't act swiftly he would be left behind - and well we couldn't have that now could we? Galloping after his wayward friend he rushed along with Helios' to the rescue.

Mischa shrank back as the Reya advanced toward's her, she knew how to defend herself sure - but well she really didn't want to hurt anyone! Why it would just ruin her day to think she caused someone else pain - and this swirly patterned Reya was clearly already having a bad day.

"Now Sir.." She tried to calm him with a soothing voice even while backing nervously away from him "Maybe if you just calmed down we could talk about this" She finished, stopping as he rump bumped into a shrub. The butterfly she'd been playing with had long since flown away

Eacles snorted with a nasty look on his face, eyes glinting with joy as she backed away from him - why she was afraid of him!. This thought caused the Reya to gather just a bit more courage then normal and he tried to puff himself up slightly as he advanced a menacing swagger in his steps.

"I'm tired of talking to Nequus like you!" He spat at the mare as he drove her towards the clump of shrubs where he escape would be less likely. "Always thinking your better then everyone else..never paying attention to what your doing or where your going!" He continued to rant, making a snap at the mares forelegs

Mischa's eyes widened as she huddled against the shrub, still not willing to fight back and attempting to talk the angry stallion down. She was quite sure she could - even angry creatures should be given the benefit of the doubt after all, everyone wanted to be good..didn't they?

"Oh sir...please it really was an accident! I would never think such things about anyone!" And her voice gained just a bit of pleading at the very end - as though pleading for him to believe her. Gosh..she really didn't want this steed to think such awful thoughts about her! A small whinny of surprise left her mouth as he snapped at her and and she barely managed to rear up and jerk herself sideways to avoid it. Landing half in and half out of the shrub clump she found a vine had tangled about her fore hoof as she tried to pull herself out and face the stallion again. "Oh drat..." she muttered still not completely aware of the danger she was in.

Neither of them seemed to notice the rapidly approaching Helios and Sunil.

"Halt fiend!" Helios covered the remaining distance between himself and the Reya, rearing up and striking at the air as he skidded to a halt. "Back down and trouble this lady no further, or it will go hard for you!" He'd never been in a real fight before. Would he be any good? He had trained with his father and brothers, but he had no idea if those drills would serve him well in the real world. He supposed he might be about to find out.

A big part of battles, he remembered his father telling him, was gaining the high ground by intimidating your opponent from the start. well, he could do that much at least, he was sure. "I am Helios son of Sol, and the stallion by my side is mighty Sunil. If you take one more pace toward her, make one more gesture that threatens her, we will be forced to destroy you." There, that had been rather good he felt; it would have been good to know the name of Sunil's sire, but 'mighty' had sounded alright to him at least. Maybe the crested Ichsa would have something impressive of his own to add, he had no doubt that the blue-necked stallion would be able to think of something if he wanted to.

Oh good - she was stuck, Eacles thought to himself, made her a nice easy target and the foolish creature seemed far more interested in dumbly staring at the vine around her foot then what he was up to. That somewhat ticked him off really - like a vine was more important, more of a threat then he was! Well he'd show her, he would!

Drawing himself up Eacles took a few steps closer and with ear's flattened to his skull lifted up a fore hoof with clear intentions of striking her - right in the hock he thought would be a good place, maybe he'd break it and cripple her. Teach her a good lesson then - be hobbling and moaning about the land until she was killed off by some predator or infection.

"Accidents are just excuses!" Eacles spat, on the brink of launching his attack when out of the clear blue came a worrisome voice. Halt fiend! it yelled at him and it sounded like a stallion. Ruddy hell...Eacles dropped his hoof and wheeled about to see just what had come up on him.

Sunil skid to a flashy stop beside his friend arriving in time to hear Helios give his speech - mighty good speech at that he thought to himself, well done Helios! He'd have to remember to compliment him on it later. Right now of course it was more important to convince this unknown heathen that he was indeed mighty.

Snorting in a fierce manner Sunil narrowed his eyes and tossed his head knowing full well that the sun would glint rather menacingly on his onyx horn. Pawing the ground he added to his friends speech.

"You have chosen the wrong maiden to threaten this day vermin! Fore she is under the protection of two fierce warriors!" Sunil spoke in a confident voice, casting a look over this other stallion - he couldn't possibly stand a chance against the two of them, he had no idea if Helios knew how to fight or not - but figured that having grown up in a large family he must have had some sort of training. No matter really - if they could intimidate the beast there would be no need for a real fight.

Well curse him to the mountains - there were two of the damnable stallions - and both of them seemed somewhat intent on doing a good deed and rescuing the mare.

"This is none of your business!" he spat at them, though he took a few wary half steps backwards. "I'll have you now that this foul mare came at me first she did!' He continued, he was quite furious by now, not only had he nearly been knocked over by the foolish mare - but he was about to be ousted from his chance at punishing her for it by two stallions. No need to get himself hurt over the mare right now though he told himself over the thudding of his heart which had sped up a great deal with the stallions arrival. He could always find her again later.

Mischa by now had become aware that Eacles was otherwise distracted and took the opportunity to lean down and use her horn to pull the vines free from her leg before seeing just what exactly had distracted him. Two stallion it seemed.

"Oh..oh dear" She muttered to herself while sidling out from behind Eacles, hoping he wouldn't notice as his attention was on the other's, but that ill tempered Reya was telling them that she had attacked him first! Mischa's eyes widened slightly and she stamped a foot into the ground in irritation. "Now see here! I've told you it was an accident!" she implored to the Reya and Ichsa stallions in turn.

'I truly didn't mean to back into him - but he just won't take my apology" She continued 'Why and then he tried to snap at me...completely rude if I say so myself!"

Helios snorted and stamped a hoof, turning his gaze from the mare who had just spoken back onto the brown-marked Reya. "Here that, cur, she apologizes. I suggest you do the same and be on your way before anything... regrettable happens. I do not wish to have to harm you, but sir if you leave me no choice do not doubt that I will strike you down!" At least the mare was out of harm's way now, admittedly he was now in harm's way, but surely the Reya would not be foolish enough to try to fight them.

"Are you hurt, lady," he asked after a moment's pause, half turning his head to look at her, trying to put the presence of the Reya out of mind whilst remaining alert at the same time. It was not exactly an easy feat. He wished his father were here, he'd never seen his sire lose a fight in his life! He'd be safe if his father were here... but he wasn't. He would have to learn to fight his own battles. He wanted to learn to fight his own battles, but he was afraid. It was hard.

The mares ords caught Eacles attention, she didn't sound to be in the same place she had been a moment before which meant...he hazarded a glance behind him...she was no longer stuck. Well curses, what was he supposed to do now?

Looking back towards the two stallions, Eacles puffed up his chest in an attempt to seem larger then he was though he was well aware that he was quite clearly out-numbered.

"I don't wish to harm you" He mocked the grey stallion in a high pitched voice, although his eyes kept darting to and fro as though looking for some path of escape. His chance came when the grey beast turned his attention to the now freed mare, grasping the presented opportunity Eacles dashed forward brandishing his horn threateningly at the only creature whose attention seemed to be completely on him, the odd looking multi-colored stallion before dodging away to make a bid for freedom.

Sunil kept a keen eye on the Reya stallion as Helios checked after the health of the Lady they had come to rescue, fiercely flaring his nares and keeping a hard look about his eyes to keep him in check. It seemed the Reya's wish to escape was higher then his desire to be intimidated however because no sooner had Helios looked upon the mare then the wretched creature was dashing forward, wickedly curved horn arcing threateningly in his direction.

Sunil half-reared to escape what might have been a nasty gouging had not the Reya dodged away at the last second and thundered off. Sunil snorted and wheeled after him, sunlight flashing off his hide as he called over his shoulder to his friend. "I will make sure he truly leaves the area!" as he dashed off.

Mischa was quite taken by the brave words and kind voice of the grey beast as he asked after her health...as any gentleman steed should she thought to herself. opening her maw to answer he found herself quite at a lack for words..something that didn't happen often with Mischa.

'Hmm..oh yes, I think it just a..." she started to say dipping her head to inspect her foreleg when a sudden rush of motion to the side caught her attention and she skittered sideways, almost unconsciously moving to hide herself behind Helios.

"Oh..oh dear!" She exclaimed as the other two stallions thundered off "You don't think they'll fight do you? I'd feel just awful if someone got hurt because of me" She fretted.

Helios tensed and snorted, spinning to face the Reya as he threatened Sunil... but it seemed the handsome Ichsa had everything under control. Thank the Gods and Goddesses that the yellow beast was a coward. He just hoped that Sunil didn't end up cornering the creature; cowards became desperate and vicious when they felt trapped. Still, he trusted his companion to be sensible.

Sighing out a relieved breath, Helios turned back to the mare they had rescued. "I think not lady," he said with a slight bob of his head. "I believe that my companion Sunil will see him off without harm to either of them... Might I ask your name? I am Helios... though of course I said that when we first arrived," he concluded with a slightly embarrassed smile, he'd quite forgotten that he'd already introduced himself.

Mischa still looked slightly worried despite Helios asurences - but really what could she do about it? The two friends must knew each other fairly well she comforted herself and if Helios here thought things would be fine well then she would just have to trust in his judgement.

"To be honest" the mare spoke with a slightly embarrassed smile of her own "I didn't quite catch your name the first time you said it, so I'm rather glad you choose to repeat it...it's so embarrassing to talk to someone and not recall their names" She continued trying to pass of her embarrassment with an airy laugh.

"I'm Mischa - and I must say I'm quite glad you and your friend came along when you did" She finally concluded as the laugh faded and her tone took on a sincere tone.

"Mischa," Helios smiled, suddenly feeling shy, "a lovely name for a lovely lady... I'm glad we happened by as well. I... Umm... Have you a herd, friends, family who will be looking for you, or a territory I could escort you back to?" He was making a fool of himself, he really was. His experience with mares extended only to his mother, and that wasn't a lot of help here. Even sisters, with whom he would have been on a more equal footing, would have been a help. As it was... well... oh dear. He knew how it was you were supposed to treat a lady, but not how to talk to one! She seemed nice though, maybe she wouldn't mind him making a fool of himself. He hoped she wouldn't, he wanted her to think well of him for more than rescuing her from that brute of a Reya.

If Nequus were capable of blushing - no doubt that Mischa would be doing so as the dappled Helios called her lovely. Flipping her rather long forelock to the side and out of her eyes in an action designed to hide the combination of embarrassment and giddiness that lurked in her eyes. By the sun what was up with her? Mischa very rarely had trouble coming up with conversations - most of the time others told her she tended to babble. But here she was with a completely blank mind making what would probably be considered googly eyes at a stallion she'd just met.

It was a few moments before the mare surfaced from such inner thoughts and realized that Helios had asked her a question, blinking suddenly as she gathered her thoughts and mentally chastised herself - because surely he would think her quite stupid by now - Mischa managed to scramble up an answer.

"Oh!..oh no..I'm afraid not, I just sort of...wander" She finally answered with a bit of a head bob to accentuate her rambling ways. Honestly Mischa didn't really have any place to go, or be...she was more of a simply was type of Nequus. It seemed the mare was so wrapped up in her own inner chastisement that she completely missed the fact that Helios was acting somewhat awkward himself. "How about you? Do you and your friend belong to a herd?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 24, 2009 6:42 am

So awkward! At least she seemed to be a bit shy as well, and probably wouldn't mind him being the same. "No," Helios shook his head and smiled, "we're just two friends traveling together... My family's almost a herd though," the stallion grinned, feeling on more familiar ground now, "I have five tree siblings, all brothers. My parents must have been run off their hooves while we were small. If you spot anyone around with a tail like mine," he waved it for emphasis, "chances are they're related to me. It came from my mother's side, she doesn't know where she got it from... Some people think it a bit odd but I rather like it, very good for swatting flies."

It made him just a little bit different to, and he liked being a bit different. Standing out from the crowd was... Well he just liked being noticeable. Right now he was torn between wanting Mischa to see him, to keep talking to him, and wanting the ground to swallow him; nervousness had reasserted itself. What if he said something to insult her, or what if he couldn't think of anything else to say at all? He wanted to impress her, he wanted it very much. She was so lovely... was he infatuated with her? Not necessarily, he'd thought similar things about Sunil... Oh. Was he infatuated with Sunil as well? But... Sunil was a stallion, and so was he. Stallions didn't feel like that about one another, did they? His parents had never mentioned such a thing, but maybe they'd just forgotten to do so.

"Goodness...five siblings? I imagine it was nice to have so many siblings to play with though" She stated reflecting on her own foalhood for a few moments, from the sounds of it her own hadn't been nearly as busy as Helio's had been "I only have one sister...but I'm not even sure where she has gotten to now, we were never very close" she continued after her musing.

It was his comments about his tail that really caught her attention - how had she not noticed that before? It seemed like a fairly important thing not to notice when you met someone - but then their meeting had been rather..unconventional. Yes that must be it - that was the excuse she would go with in any case. Peering at the waving tail she found it quite cute - the little tuff at the end matched his pretty long mane and really once she thought about it the little touches of color on his body contrasted quite nicely with the rest of his grey hide. They were like accents... complementary but not over powering.

Mischa blinked a few times, somewhat lost in her thoughts about Helios before she realized she was staring and gave a little start. "I think it's quite lovely" she told Helios sincerely, she really thought all of him was quite lovely - but it seemed a bit brash to just come out and say something like that. "I like how it matches your mane" she continued without really thinking about it, and once she realized the words that had escaped her mouth she made an embarrassed little 'heh' sound and shook her head.

"so..um, what are the two of you going to do now?" She asked him "Now that you've saved me and all" She finalized.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 04, 2009 11:35 am

"Thank you," Helios smiled and gave his tail a final swish, "I've always liked it... err..." What exactly did you do once you'd saved the damsel in distress? Oddly he'd never thought to ask about that. You saved her, and all was right with the world again... but you couldn't just trot off and say bye bye, now could you? He certainly didn't want to just leave, he was enjoying Mischa's company a great deal.

"Would... would you like to find something to eat?" he asked eventually, hesitantly. "I think I saw an elppa tree just before we came charging in, there might be some ripe ones on there... I could tell you a bit more about my family if you like or we could talk about... err... other stuff?" Other stuff? Other stuff? Oh no. He was really making a fool of himself here. The words should be on the tip of his tongue, he should be charming, dashing, witty! But he wasn't. He never had been and never would be. Maybe they could just be awkward together though, that might just work.

Mischa seemed rather delighted at Helios suggestion, after all the excitement of the last little while Mischa was starting to realize that she was positively starving and she rather liked the idea of getting to know Helios a bit more, the purple and grey stallion seemed like the type of company she would like to keep. Or at least he didn't seem negative or depressing.

"I would love a bite to eat!" The onyx mare exclaimed in a cheery voice, and if she thought Helios was making a fool of himself she certainly didn't let on about it. But then that wasn't the type of negative thought Mischa tended to have about anyone "and I would love to hear about you family...they sound quite lovely. Perhaps I shall meet them someday" She proclaimed without really thinking about it. It wasn't until the words escaped her mouth that the dainty mare realized that such a statement could be seen as rather err.. forward thinking and Mischa hurried to tack on an extra bit - just so Helios wouldn't think she was going to stalk him or anything. "I mean..you know..by chance, or something.."
