The attic was kept surprisingly clean. This was because Salem never wanted any of the children to get sick. He knew well enough this was a favorite place for the children to hide while playing hide and seek. Besides, a spooky place like this was fun to play in. And so, he kept it quite clean and never stored anything that could hurt any of them up here. However, this was where he usually kept extra things so things like desks, chests with extra clothes and costumes for Halloween or for any other time of the year! It was always fun to play dress up and this was the place to do it. Further more there were many props that could be used not only for drama, but also just for the sake of playing.
