Have your parents ever done this to you, where they would say they would donate your books to the local library? My mom has, and because of that, I lost about 75% of the books I owned, even if most of them were the Babysitters Club and Animal Ark series.

Thankfully, my parents don't do this without my permission. However, since we're moving soon I'm afraid that they might start doing this to make room for when we move into the new house. I'm pretty sure that they would just get rid of books I haven't read yet or old books from my childhood. But still, that would make me very angry. At least let me read those first and let me pick out the books that aren't sentimental.

my parents haven't done that to me and i'm grateful. i think it's funny how teachers always tell you to read yet some parents throw away kids' books.

thankfully my parents would never do this. my dad because he is just like me when it comes to books and i don't live with my mom so it's kinda hard for her to chuck any of my books.

My family hoards books. Seriously, my parents just cleaned out their book collections to free up some room in the garage, they got rid of maybe four boxes of books- mostly stuff they had from college. They'd never give my books away though, I warned them when they started cleaning they better not touch my books and they went "Of course not!" biggrin

Luckily everyone I know knows how much I love my books, so if they ever got rid of them without my permission they would die.. slowly... and painfully.

My parents have threatened to give them away, sell them on EBay or Craig's list and my father has repeatedly threatened to start a bombfire!!! It's my worst nightmare. I recently rented a pod to contain them and keep them safe. I'd say $176 a month is well worth it to keep my precious(s) safe.

My parents know I donate what I want, and if my mother ever touches my books without permission, it's her fingers that will be donated. smile
