The sun was setting, and the sky was filled with a beautiful mix of orange and pink with some dark blue that still remained high above. Even the few clouds that lurked above were becoming colorful as the sun reflected off of them. Soon enough the sun would leave completely and leave Zareen with nothing but the moon and the stars to light her way. A few days ago she had made a choice to leave her family and see the world around her on her own. It was a hard decision for her to make since she hadn't known what life would be like without having her parents around to guide her, but something in her head had kept pushing her to move on. She was an adult and ready to be off on her own. She just wished she had some sort of company around her. Never before had she felt this alone.
Where she was now was empty besides for the occasional tree she saw and the tall grass that surrounded her. Zareen had been heading towards the forest she had been hearing about, but now wasn't so sure if she had been heading in the right direction.

Cloud Dance stood at the edge of a stand of trees, gazing at the beautiful sky with a happy, thoughtful look on her face. She loved the sunset. Well, really, she loved anytime of day, but the sunset struck a chord with her. It was so nice tonight! She noted the moon had risen already, full and when darkness fell, it would be lovely and silvery. In the mean time, the colors were lovely.
She glanced down, and tilted her head. Did she see some one walking towards her in this light? She wasn't sure, but she thought she did. Interesting.

Zareen looked up at the sky as she continued to move forward. It really was amazing how wide and beautiful the sky could be, especially at this time of day. She knew it would be beautiful at night too, but she wanted it to stay like this for just a while longer. She didn't want to be alone in the dark just yet. However, it didn't seem like she would have to worry about it anymore. After she almost stumbled over a small rock with her hoof, Zareen forced herself to look in the direction she was going and to give the sky around her less attention. This brought a mare that seemed close by to her attention as well. Her wings caught Zareen's eyes quickly. They were almost the same kind her father had. She stopped in her tracks and looked over at the mare for a moment. She opened her mouth to say something, but was a bit hesitat. She wasn't always the best at greeting strangers.

Cloud Dance looked the other mare over for a long moment, then beamed and romped over to the other. "Hello! I'm Cloud Dance! It's nice to meet you, what's your name?" The cheerful young mare was always happy to meet new friends. "Are you from near here or are you trying to get somewhere or what?" She beamed more, looking happy.

Zareen was a bit releaved that the other seemed to have an easier time with greetings. She was worried she would look weird for staring. "Z-Zareen...." She said quietly, but with a smile. She lowered her head a little, since she was a little shy. "It's nice to meet you as well. Uhm, I'm from somewhat far I think. I don't know.... I... I just started going off on my own just recently. Not very good with knowing where I am either." When Zareen was a foal she had been prone to getting lost.

Cloud Dance tilted her head, listening. She smiled and bounced in place after Zareen finished. "It's nice to meet you, Zareen! You talk kinda like my Dad, only not as much... He stutters lots!" She shrugs. "No need to be shy with me, though. I like everyone. And well were you are... you're near were the forest and the river meet. I live near here." She nods behind her. "That way a bit. I can show you if you like!"

Zareen's ears perked up at hearing this. The forest! that was exactly the place she had been heading too. She was lucky to have run into such a nice soquili. "The forest? Oh that's good. I meant to be heading in the right direction for that. I was hoping to see some of it..." She smiled at the other. "If you could help me that would be very nice. Thank you for your kindness..."

Cloud Dance beams. "Not a problem! I like helping. It's this way!" She turns and heads back into the grove, practically dancing as she walked. In her opinion, things were looking great. A new friend, that's what she'd been looking for!

Zareen walked next to the other though trailed a tiny bit behind out of shyness, though she was starting to get more comfortable around his other soquili. She had been hoping for some company for the sun was down completely. She smiled a bit more as noticed the other practically dancing. "Uhm... So what is the forest like where you live...?"

"Mmmm it's nice, cause it's right on the river, so when it's hot out of the forest, I've the shady trees to be under, and the river to splash about in! It's never too hot there, and when you want to warm up, there's always nice sunny spots. There's all kinds of animals and squirrels are fun!"

"That does sound fun. Even better than I had imagined. Squirrels? Ah... They always act a little silly don't they?" Zareen said as she looked around a tiny bit as they walked. "When I was little I used to chase around butterflies. Are there a few of those around? They're always fun to see."

"Butterflies are nice, and fun to chase, but squirrels are better. Daddy taught me that! He learned from Momma. Squirrels are such FUN to chase. I love it!" She giggles happily, and smiles at Zareen. "We do have butterflies in the woods too. And birds and all kinds of things." They had gotten through the copse, and in the near distance, the edge of the trees was now visible, as was the river, shining gold-orange in the last light of the setting sun.

"I never tried chasing a squirrel before. I was always kind of worried they'd jump on me," Zareen now sort of wished she did. By the sounds of things she had missed out on something. "Birds are nice. I like to listen to them in the morning. I think it's a nice way to get up..." She glanced back behind her for one last clear look at the sunset before turning her head back to look at where she could now see the trees. "Were almost there, aren't we?"

Cloud Dance listened and smiled, nodding. "Very close. We should be there by the time the moon's fully up!" She bounced a little as she walked. "The river looks so pretty under the stars, all shiny and silver, and the moon makes a 'path' on the water of light! I like to fly over it, pretending I'm going to the moon!"

"A path of light..." Zareen closed her eyes and tried picturing the scene in her mind. How beautiful... She couldn't wait to see such a sight. She opened her eyes before she could stumble on anything again. "Flying must be wonderful. Father likes it too I think. He has wings that are sort of like yours, but they're a bit different..."
