A Private RP between Rhian, (Redbud-Tree), Marius, (x___Doctor Ruri), and Orpheus (XxLoveLikeWinterxX)

Location:
Dorian Cromwell's penthouse apartment
Time:
Right after Ellandra, Dorian, and Verdant have taken their leave for a day of shopping.
Weather: Clear and Pleasant
PostPosted: Sat Aug 08, 2009 2:03 pm

Rhian watched Ellandra and the two fancy-dressed-people leave, and fluttered aimlessly around the room for a few minutes. She looked a bit lost without her owner-mother there with her. At last, hwever, she fluttered over to Marius and looked him in the eyes, tilting her head curiously and fluttering her wings just fast enough to stay hovering in the air. "So what do we do now?"

She only stayed like that for half a moment after asking her question. Then an idea popped into her head and she flew straight at Orpheus, crashing into him and bowling them both over. "I know! I know! Let's clean Orphy up! Orphy needs a baaaaaaath!"

Orpheus waved his tail at Verdant in a makeshift goodbye before being knocked over by the giant fluttering butterfly. A cloud of powdered sugar flew up in the air as they landed; he really did need that bath! But... but...

"It's too early fer a bad, brah! If I go, we all go!" Orpheus didn't like baths, not one bit! Being covered in soapy water meant he couldn't fly very well and he was sure that he could just lick all of the sugar off anyways. He turned to Marius for help, giving him a pleading look that said, "HELP. ME."

Marius blinked as Rhian fluttered into his personal space, then fluttered back off to Orpheus. As the little dragon complained about bathing, Marius caught the look of utter panic asking him to help. Well, he supposed Orpheus DID need one, but there was an easier way to do so. Floating into the kitchen, he got the spray bottle that Dorian used to mist his plants and a washcloth, and floated back out to Orpheus, spraying him directly in the face and proceeding to float all over and mist him slightly. It wasn't enough to impair his flying, but it WAS enough to make the sugar start to dissolve.

Silently, Marius starting wiping Orphy's face with the washcloth and hummed softly to himself, the tone deep and pleasant despite him not really having an affinity for song like his new big brother and the nymph. Smiling to Rhian, he twitched his hairpieces like ears and continued to idly wash Orpheus off.

"See.....that's not so bad.....big brother can get cleaned up without getting TOO wet....besides, you wouldn't want to worry Master Dorian or Master Verdant, would you? I'm sure he likes you better when you're clean....this one prefers being clean," he nodded, taking a small break in his humming to talk Orpheus out of a tiff. Looking to Rhian, he inclined his head to her humbly.

"Would Miss Rhian like help cleaning her wings? It won't curl them," he assured her, trying to be as helpful as possible without being pushy. Honestly, his motives were not so selfless. He just didn't want to have to scrub and vacuum the house all day when they left, trying to get up the sugar before ants or some other nasty bug creature invaded his home.

"No, no!' Rhian yelped, fluttering all the way up to the ceiling to avoid her dreaded nemesis - water. "If my wings get wet I can't move!" There was no way she was coming back down. Uh-uh. Not in a million years. She wasn't going to willingly give up her ability to move just because of a little sugar dust! And there wasn't even that much left on her small form, anyway!

Orpheus gave a sigh of relief when Marius saved him from the dreaded bathtime; a dry Orpheusis a happy Orpheus, after all~ Besides, he'd been told to stop eating soaps, and he was quite certain the tempation of that sudsy goodness would prove too much for him.

"I like being clean too, brah," Orpheus peeped as his younger brother cleaned him off. In no time, the little wyvern had been wiped clean of all the sugar that he'd been dusted with. Next was Rhian, but she seemed to really not like water; it must be a flutterbye thing. "Come on, flutter brah, it ain't so bad."

Marius sighed and shook his head, his ears/hair twitching as he did so with vague annoyance. Crossing his arms, he sighed even louder and gave Rhian the largest hint at sternness that he'd shown thus far to anyone besides Dorian and Claudia.

"Miss Rhian......this one won't have you mucking up the house and bringing ants in for us to deal with......if you refuse to be misted down, then you will just have to follow this one upstairs to the greenhouse and let the dust come off there. Dorian wanted this one to show you the upstairs anyways, so please follow me," he said, his voice a bit more demanding than usual, a bit more in control and with more leadership qualities than his elder brother Orpheus. Orphy was fun, and he liked him, and Miss Rhian was very pretty to look at and very sweet if not a bit naive, but Marius knew that with the pair of them around he'd have to be the controlling force. A bit of growing up never hurt anyone anyways, so he figured having to be in charge when Dorian usually took on that role wasn't so bad after all.

Unlocking the door, he led them to the secondary elevator that only went to this floor and the top floor. Technically the greenhouse belonged to the entire building, but only a few people from lower floors went to look at it, besides the people who tended it. Pressing the button to the elevator, he motioned the pair inside while he held it open as it came quickly to their floor, then went inside himself. Waiting a moment for it to rise, he leaned against the back wall. Truthfully he didn't like elevators. He was always afraid they'd fall and crash and his little frame couldn't take that kind of damage he supposed.

As the doors opened upon reaching their destination, a utopia of flora blossomed before them. Tropical trees, flowers, ivys, and various crawling plants of various shapes, sizes, and color lived harmoniously in the glass greenhouse. The glass was frosted so that enough light got in to set a mood for the place, but not so much that everything would get TOO hot in the summer months. Marius wondered what it'd look like in Winter, since Dorian claimed that it was the most beautiful time of the year. Floating over to a swing that was hanging from an orange tree that was in full blossom right now, he breathed in the heavy scent of orange blossoms and sighed in content. He loved gardens, even if he fuond that wasn't where his talents lie. He'd tried helping Dorian plant some peony's in the corner but they'd died quickly and Dorian had replaced the spot with a apple tree, claiming that the apples would be sweeter smelling anyways and they could always eat off of it in Fall.

If Rhian noticed Marius' increased sternness at all, she gave no sign, simply fluttering around in excited circles as they boarded the elevator - she'd never been inside one before, and it was an interesting little box. Why was Mari-Mari afraid of it? Then the doors opened and - ohhhh, this was nice! But. . . . wait. . . . . how had that happened?

"Mari-Mari, how did the box take us to a new place? Will we be able t oget back? Will Ellandra be able to find us?" She fluttered nearly at Marius' eye-level as they went through the green place that looked like Aoi-flower's home, not quite willing to take off and explore until she knew that Ellandra would be able to find her - it would worry her owner-mother so much if she couldn't!

Orpheus was enthralled by this magical metal box which seemed to be moving upwards. He wondered what sort of witchcraft was making it do this and was decidedly very proud to know Marius, for he was surely the one behind this sorcery. He was about to comment on his awesome powers when he realized he'd completely forgotten to bring his copy of Emo Monthly! Gah, and he hadn't even gotten to see Oli Sykes, the centerfold. Oh well, maybe they would go back for a bit and Orpheus could finish reading it!

The metal box opened up and suddenly they were in a lovely greenhouse full of lush, fragrant flora. It reminded of him of the place where his Big Brother worked at and where Big and Little Leafy Brahs lived. Orpheus happily flew over to the thing hanging from the orange tree and sat down in it, jumping a bit at how it started swinging. He then heard Rhian's question and began wondering the same, but shrugged it off. "Little Brah is sorcerer, flutter brah; he'll telport us back to da pretty room wid his sorcery!" Orpheus sounded quite confident in Marius' magical prowess; he was certain he could pull off amazing feats like turning water into nectar and even, dare he say it, read a magazine without tearing the page!

Marius watched as the other two looked at the garden, and then was asked how the elevator worked. Did they really not know? Or had Dorian just made sure that he SPECIFICALLY had read and learned about the world extensively in order to be ready for day to day occurrences like this? He was very much like a sheltered child in the fact he didn't get out much, but equally like a brilliantly home schooled one in the respect that he knew so much more about the world and its workings than others his age. Perhaps it was an advantage then, because it was making him feel very important and proud of himself that he could teach his new friends these things. But as Orpheus gave his explanation as to why the elevator moved like it did, the usually stoic Marius couldn't help but laugh, a deep rich sound that very much resembled the feeling of warm honey. Sticky and sweet with enough heat to be comforting, and a substance to it that was hard to describe. His voice was a deeper baritone, but it was always so hard to tell since he had to heighten his vocal cords to talk softly like he usually did. It was habit he supposed, but the timbre of his voice wasn't on his mind right at this moment.

"I'm no sorcerer, Big Brother.....my talents don't lie there like yours.....it's simply a machine. Something the humans use to get up and down all the floors of this tall building without tiring themselves out by taking the stairs.....apparently their legs are much too delicate because they never use them when they're enjoying their entertainment. It's a shame really. But this box is called an 'elevator' because of the heights it can reach. It works on something called a pulley, it's really quite fascinating," he glowed, more confident in his true element of leadership and pure knowledge. It was one of his main functions really, to simply KNOW things. Dorian needed information all the time at his fingertips to just keep Claudia maintained properly, not to mention all the other academic journals he wrote and surveyed, along with other projects that didn't concern Claudia's functioning at all.

He wasn't sure what his emerging leadership skills were for, but he knew he felt a strong desire to put Dorian's life to rights again, and make order in the house once more. Not that it wasn't clean, Marius had found he was quite good at housewife type skills as well as a side effect of his true purpose to 'assist'. It just needed emotional balance an all would be calm and good again. He hummed happily to himself, letting his voice keep its naturally deeper timbre instead of softening it to a few octaves higher, making a most pleasant sound. Or at least pleasant enough that a little chirping voice answered his deep, modest call. Looking up with surprise clear on his features, he was stunned to find a finch of all things, calling down to him with much enthusiasm at finding a singing partner. But then Marius hadn't really been singing, he'd leave that to Verdant and Orpheus, he knew he hadn't the skill they did for that particular art, but perhaps.....perhaps he was good enough to entertain such a small and delightful creature, especially since he'd never seen another living thing besides Dorian, his new friends, and their parents. Claudia wasn't really living yet, though he felt she could be one day.

It was a momentous occasion, his first living thing outside of family. Floating as close as he could to it, he hummed along to its tune, and to all who were witnessing it seemed as if the little bird and quiet proto were exchanging the song in various degrees, lamenting never having met one another before while celebrating the experience with beautiful simplicity. It was very moving to Marius, and he was lost to the world right now, even Orpheus and Rhian whom he felt close to because of what they all were.

But this little bird was happy to see him. HIM. A being of manufactured life, a life that was not supposed to be by all natural and human laws by the doctrines of logic and knowledge he knew of, and yet the creature seemed pleased to have met this strange and exciting new friend. Someone to share the song with, finally, in a subtle but natural way. Someone who shared the joy of beauty and purpose around him, but still yearned for a chance to fly into the great unknown like they were supposed to.

Rhian tilted her head as the new sibling she'd only just met started singing with a bird. She didn't really understand the significance of this moment, though she did realize that she knew next to nothing, apparently. Not that any of this mattered to her right now - exploring was more interesting than anything else, even Mari-Mari's pretty song! With this thought in mind, the flutterby took off through the greenhouse-floor, sprinkling sugar behind her as she went like a trail of sparkling white fairy dust. "Oooh, pretty flower!" she chirped as she found one that was shaped, oddly enough, like a butterfly. "Pretty, pretty!" She cheered as she flew in circles around the plant, just enjoying the chance to stretch her wings and explore this new place.

Orpheus watched his brother with glee, overjoyed to see him singing, well, humming, but it's like the same thing if you think about it. Orpheus wanted to join in, but somehow felt it'd be a little odd to do so, maybe even rude; it'd be like walking in on some private little moment, just like Rumina had done when she walked in on her mom and her ex-boyfriend's dad kissing on the one Spanish show that Verdant fell asleep to the other night. Okay, horrible example, but he didn't have a lot of knowledge about it.

"Da birdy likes you, little brah," he quipped when he felt it was okay to do so. "I betcha could be friends or someding!" Indeed, that seemed to be the gist of the finch's words. Never mind that he didn't realize that he was understanding a bird's language, the point was that the bird was very intrigued by Marius and that was that. With a cheerful tailwave, Orpheus flitted off to chew on some geraniums.

Watching his siblings, while staying close to the little bird, Marius found himself with a rare sense of utter peace in his heart. So many things had gone on lately, and he was sure many things were to come. The air almost had a sense of foreboding in it, but the content proto paid it no mind, no matter how beneficial it might've been. For now, he was happy to watch over his siblings and family, and keep living life as things came to him. One thing at a time.

He didn't realize there was a glitchy pair of cerulean eyes watching the protos, coming up the stairs unnoticed by any of them. A head full of blonde curls was hidden magnificently among some plumeria's growing and hanging from vines and branches of other plants in the little sanctuary, ever watching the three that had claimed her father's attention. What made them different? What made them like her? Why were THEY important now?

Rhian sensed an odd change in the emotions of the room. Mari-Mari felt happy, Orphy felt happy, who was - where was that bad feeling coming from? Curious, she flew over to where she felt the dark emotions, incomprehensible as anything other than "bad" to her at this early age. Still, she was wary enough to keep out of an arm's reach - a very large arm - as she peered around, antennae flicking. "Who's there? Why are you sad? Can I help you feel better?"

Orpheus turned to where Rhain had fluttered off to with excitement: a newcomer! He whistled merrily as he rose into the air and flew over to his flutterbye sibling. He nestled himself down in the cyclamens nearby and watched with intrigue. "Hiya, mystery brah. Who're you, brah?"
