The Feral Plains were a seemingly uninteresting place. There were just dirt roads cut by the foot steps of travelers, small forests, and some ruins. A Leaf could be seen hopping about these ruins.

"Blanco, I don't think this is the best idea. What are you even trying to do? I don't see anything here." While Leaves were known for their mischievous streak, she wasn't as much of a troublemaker as others. Sure, if someone turned their back to her, she might play a trick on them or something similar, but she wouldn't go much further. At times, she'd even try to be helpful.

Her brother, however, was the complete opposite. If he could find a way to mess things up for others, he'd try to do it. It was something that pleased him. "Silence, dear sister. I am trying to think. Trying to concentrate. I am looking for something. I do not remember what it was..." His voice trailed off. Then, he quickly added, "I will know it when I see it." Blanco had a problem with his memories, and most everything, really, being fragmented. Sometimes, he'd know things and other times, he wouldn't, but would know other things entirely. There were times, when he felt like he had an entire puzzle, but had given the pieces to different parts of himself who didn't feel like meeting up to put them all together.

"If that's the case, then I'll try to help." While she said this, in the back of her head, she still thought this was a terrible idea.

User Image So far the day had been very quiet and very uneventful. Most of the days in these ruins were like that. It was the perfect place for a meditation, or a midday sun bath. OverWatch coiled up on one of the odd sphere statues where he could get the best sun. The warmth felt soothing to his scales, feathers and scarred skin. He was just about to completely fall asleep when he heard a couple of small voices just over the wall to the left. He rubbed his four eyes and grunted. "common' what now?"

With another grunt he reached for his scythe that was set next to his coil and looked over the side of the statue. When he saw nothing he let out another grunt and glided down toward the grass and moss below. Surely it was nothing of a threat, but no one can be too sure in this realm.

Zanbou slipped through the shadows, snickering to himself, proud of his idea. He had been hanging around the edges of the Feral Plains when he noticed all of the travelers who came through this area. He had already pulled his usual pranks, tripping the occasional person, maybe catching someone's cloak on fire, holding up a light in the fog and bewildering stranded travelers completely. But he was looking for something new to do, so he headed to the north of the fields, towards the ruins of some ancient yet grand building. He noticed that travelers sometimes swung by there to stand and gawp at the worthless stones, as if there were something amazing. But Zanbou wasn't complaining, the more people that came back, the more opportunities he would have to play tricks. He was now heading for the ruins in his yokai shape of a fox. He was planning on hiding in crevasses and moaning and moving through the shadows and chucking stones at people to make them think the place was haunted... well.. in a sense, it would be! Zanbou snickered again, this was going to be fun....

"Book book book book book..." Blanco began repeating the words like a mantra.

Blanca, noticing this, thought that her brother must've had another one of his - as she referred to them - shifts. He was a beckoner of spirits and sometimes, would act a bit off under the influence of one. She thought if it wasn't for the whole being a Leaf thing and all, he'd've made for a heck for a shaman. She pushed these thoughts aside to focus on what was at hand. "So, you're looking for a book?"

He snapped out of it. He was in a daze and began looking around to see where he was. Once he saw that he was still at the ruins, he said, "Excuse me, dear sister, I do believe I must have lost myself. Sorry about that. Could you repeat that?"

"Were you looking for a book?"

"A book? That sounds familiar. That must be it. It has to be it."

After that, they hopped off to look for it again. Then, Blanco abruptly stopped at the edge of the statue they were behind before. He saw Overwatch - though he didn't know that was his name - lounging there. The sight of him there was a temptation he couldn't resist. He covered his face with his hands and tried to stifle his laughter.

"I can hear you! You're planning something, aren't you?"

"Keep your voice down," Blanco whispered. He then gestured to the other side of the statue."Do you see him? He looks fun, does he not?"

She whispered back, "Now that you mention it, he does. But weren't you looking for that book?"

"Who says I can not do both?" He paused and then said, "I will fan this leaf and you can throw rocks in its path."

"Wouldn't the rocks fall before they reached him? I think dirt or sand would be better."

"Whatever. Let us do this!"

And so they did, though, they had no idea about the results and no idea that there was another trickster, Zanbou, about too...

Overwatch whirled to face the direction the noise was coming from. He looked from side to side and grew slightly frustrated when he saw nothing. A subtle frown covered his face.
When rocks where hurled his way he watched as they fell short of even his tail.

"What's that you're doing?"
He pointed with his scythe in the direction of the leaf lores. Though he was still unable to see them through the tall grass he had an idea of where they were by the rocks. "Being little pests." He left no time for them to answer. "Get out of my sight before I tear you apart." OverWatch hissed than begun to coil up. His wings extended behind him in hopes of puffing up his appearance and making himself incredibly intimidating.

Like the lores, he too was unaware of Zanbou's approach.

Zanbou crept up to the ruins from the side, so as not to alert any of the living of his presence. Then, suddenly, he noticed a glint in the sun, like light on metal, and slunk through the shadows for a closer look. Peeking from around a statue, Zanbou saw another Ghostling, a basilisk who was hissing and yelling at something unseen. Zanbout trailed his eyes on where the basilisk was looking, but he could see nothing but the green tinge of a leaf. He frowned and thought to himself, A leaf? In the middle of the ruins? Throwing rocks?! Oh-ho! It must my a pair of little leaf lores! But... but... they are pulling my prank! Zanbou pouted and then smirked to himself; he had just gotten an idea, another wonderfully horrible idea. The fox Ghostling slunk around the black basilisk, keeping in the shadows and grass, and out of sight. Then, when he was right behind the basilisk, Zanbou sprinted and yelped, "Help help! Fire!" and he leaped through the air, pounced on Overwatch's head, sprang off the Ghostlings horns, and ran off into the ruins with a cackle and back out of sight.

After Blanco and Blanca's experience with Overwatch, they hopped off in the opposite direction. She looked like she hadn't enjoyed herself - she thought it would've been funner if they hadn't been caught - and he was laughing like a madman.

"That was frightening!"

"Exciting too! I loved that reaction! What is the point of existing if you do not get your blood pumping every once a while?"

"I think..." She paused and thought a bit, before saying, "I think existence itself could be its own reward."

"You put too much thought into this."

Soon afterward, he stopped and looked left and right.

"Where are you headed now?"

"I do not see any fire..."

"I think that... I think it was a yokai? I think that guy's pulling your chains."

"Nonsense, dear! That sounds like something we'd do."

"You think we're the only ones capable of that?"

"Ye~s! Now, let us go..."

After this, the two of them tried to track Zanbou...

OverWatch only had enough time to look behind him in response to the noise before he got a face full of Zanbou. He was so preoccupied with the lores that there was no time to avoid the prank. He took a swing with his scythe at the tail of the blue menace just as he bound off of the horns. As the devious yokai vanished into the ruins OverWatch spat a slew of 'colorful' words at the pranksters. They had managed to make it on his bad list. Very bad list. No that that was a hard feat.

"COWARDS!" He roared in vein. The grip on his scythe was so tight that it felt as if it would break. In the moment of anger his wings stretched out and he made a bolt for the blue yokai as well. This had become personal. At least in his mind it had been. As he slithered he held his scythe ready to swing.
