Does anyone have a problem with stage fright sometimes? I find that when I'm playing in a group, even just a trio, I feel safe, with no big anxiety, though whilst I'm playing a solo, wooo...all the attentions on me, and I sometimes even get hiccups I'm so nervous. The same goes with piano. Though I find piano even more annoying, because I've had stage firght with piano since I started at 6. gonk
I guess another stage fright might be dropping ur bow, or your whole fiddle...but that's more like a horror story. *grr* xp

I think that if your shaking a lot, the audience doesn't notice. I asked my friends if I was shaking when I played infront of my school *GULP*, they said no. there's at least one thing off our shaky-back!

I don't know...I'm quite expressionless and unfeeling until it's my turn and I walk up onto the stage. When I'm sitting in the audience waiting for my name my mind's still off to lalaland and once it's called i'm like "oh. its my turn." The second I'm standing on the stage and am about to play my piece (either piano/violin) I get nervous xD
I think it might have to do with the fact I've done at least 50 of these since I was 4. I wasn't even nervous the day of my ARCT exam for piano o____o; I got nervous the last second. -_-; It's not a good thing though...affects my school work xD I procrastinate ALOT since I'm not nervous much.

Only when I'm singing solo. If I'm playing somethingg, I don't care. If I'm singing back-up with a band, I'm perfect. As soon as I have a solo, I get incredibly nervous.

Once my whole stinkin' chinrest fell off onstage between songs and made the most horrible noise. redface One of the wonderful ladies I was playing with took off her earring and used it to fix it during the next song while I sat there, red-faced. But I got to play the rest of the concert! That's the most traumatic thing so far ..

Hmm..well I do remember once in 8th grade we had to do either a solo or duet in front of the class and they would grade us. Of course I chose to do a duet with this girl. On the big day, I sat with her and next to my other friend and her partner. They were both going " Oh, I'm so nervous!" and my friend's partner was even physically shakeing! I was completely calm and tryed to calm her down. Then they got called and played it beautifully! We were playign teh same song, so I thought we'd do even better, since me and my partner had practiced lots and were not nervous. BUT....as soon as I got on stage... eek @_@!!! I was shaking! MY bow was shaking, and omg it was horrible, since I was playing the first violin part I cued her to NOT repeat, and hoped no one noticed. XD Man that was BAD. It's never happened ever again, but thats cause i've never played any other duets. Trios, solos, small chamber, I've done everything else just fine. Crazy..eh? domokun domokun domokun

I used to get major stage fright. I'd get all jittery and I'd always cry after my performances. But, with some experience, I've gotten used to performing solo. Now I usually walk on stage pretty wellow and calm. cool

I had to play in front of the class, and even though I was easily the best violinist in that class (my school has a terrible orchestra program) I was so nervous about playing well. Mainly because this girl I was still trying to get up to courage to ask out was sitting in the second chair, right infront of me, so there was a little pressure. (Ahh, the 8th grade xp )

It felt like my violin had imploded, I was so scared I had broken it! Luckily my teacher was able to put the bridge back on with little fuss, but it was still embarrising.

Playing my viola even in a solo I don't really get stage fright, on my violin I do though I guess that would be because I can't play violin as well as I can the viola. What really makes me nervous is a important auditon like the one I have today to get into the higher orchstra in high school next year. I am sooo scared. crying Wish me luck!

Once my teacher told me I was going to play the entrance of the queen of sheba in a trio for the concert.. I freaked out. I learned the piece, and on the day of the concert, I was sooo nervous. Once the time came for us to play in the concert, I had not one bit of stage fright in me. I had the first violin part and did not mess up once, and if you've ever heard the song, there's a lot to mess up on, especially if you think that song is a bit above your playing level.
Anyways, you just have to play mental tricks.. Just say that you are above being nervous. Those people couldn't even hold the instrument as good as you, so they can't say anything.
