Desiree/Frost LOG
Stretched out in a spot of sunlight in front of her den, Desiree thought about the last two weeks of her life. Frost was still with her and while she occasionally got annoyed at his pushy nature, she had more or less become accustomed with having the male in her life. He acted like the king of the world sometimes and once he had really scared her when they had had a big fight, but most of the time he was a pleasant companion. She didn’t fool herself though. They both knew it wasn’t going to last. Soon Frost would be on his way, continuing his quest to revive his birth clan. He had asked her to come with him, several times in fact. But she had declined his invitation every time. She was a traveler at heart, but she doubted her travels would ever bring her westward, to the mountains. It wasn’t the place for her. Desiree would remain here, once again on her own, like she was used to. But for now…for now she could pretend.
Frost came out of the den and smiled as the warm sunlight washed over him. He spotted Desiree’s dark form laying a few feet away and he walked over. When he reached her he lowered his head and gently brushed his cheek against hers and licked her. “”Morning, doll.” He murmured and laid down next to her and placed his head on her back, like he often did. Though he wouldn’t say it to her, Frost had had a very good time during his stay with Desiree. He wouldn’t say he loved her, but he considered her a valuable companion and thought that she would make a wonderful addition to the Clan. But there was the little problem with her refusing to come. He could make her come. And now that he had decided it was high time he left, that was becoming an increasingly appealing idea.
“I’m going to leave tomorrow.” He told her with a sigh. “Are you sure you don’t want to come with me, doll?”
Desiree smiled and nuzzled him back. “’Morning.” She purred and pressed herself closer to him when he laid down. She would miss the snuggling once he left. She closed her eyes and willed the thoughts away. That was still in the future. Or so she thought. Her eyes snapped open at his announcement and she craned her neck to look at him. “Oh.” Was all she managed. Her surprise was quickly replaced by irritation at his question. “Yes, I’m sure.” She said adamantly. “When are you going to give up? I’m not coming with you, Frost!” She huffed and turned away from him, a frown of annoyance on her face. She wished he would just give up and stop pestering her about it. “How many times do I have to say it?”
Frost lifted his head and looked away with an irked growl. “Fine!” He snapped. “Stay here all alone and miserable, see if I care.” She was so stubborn! It was something that both fascinated him and irritated him to no end. He admired her strength of character, it was something that he would want his future mate and Consort to posses. But at the same time he wished she would listen to him once in a while. “I really can’t understand you, tough.” He said after a while. “Do you even understand what kind of a life I’m offering you?”
“Miserable?” Desiree crossed her eyebrows. “Why would I be miserable?” She asked, narrowing her eyes. “Do you think I’ll miss you that much? I was just fine before you barged in on my life and I assure you I’m going to be just fine once you leave.” Once again she was amazed how big of an ego he had. It made her think twice about telling him what she had found out two days ago. She had been nervous about it in the first place, but now she almost made up her mind to keep it a secret. “I don’t need you to understand me. And yes, I do realize. It’s just not what I want. The mountains are not a place for me, hon.” She tried to make him understand.
Frost lifted his eyebrows at her declaration. “If that’s what you think.” He said nonchalantly. He knew she wasn’t in love with him, but he was sure she was going to miss him at least a little. He had said that just to spite her and it had obviously worked. Her next words though left him positively infuriated. “Not what you want…” He said quietly. “So you are saying I can’t give you what you want?” He continued in the same dangerously low tone. “You know,” he continued as he got up and stood over Desiree, placing a paw on either side of her. “I could make you came.” He informed her, his icy blue eyes staring at her emotionlessly. “And trust me, you don’t want that.”
Desiree rolled on her back as he stood up, slightly confused by his actions. The look in his eyes, however, left her terrified. He looked as if he was ready to kill her any moment now. Was he that upset about her refusal to join him? Or he was just not used to getting no for an answer. Either way, the situation was not working in her favor. ”R-really now.” She said and mentally cursed herself for stuttering. She took a deep breath and calmed herself a little. “You can try, but neither of us will be happy. I assure you.” She warned and tried to push him off.
Frost tilted his head. “Oh, I will be happy. But you will not be, you’re right about that.” He hissed as he lowered his head until their noses were inches apart. He pinned her down with a paw on her stomach and his claws lengthened. “Don’t.” He warned. “Or I’ll hurt you.” He looked down at his claws and then lifted his eyes to meet hers again. “We don’t want that, do we?” He liked the fight in her, but now was not the right time for her to be fighting him. He hoped she would realize that.
Desiree stopped moving immediately, eyes wide. “Don’t!” She said, trying to move his paw away. “I…” She shut her eyes frustrated. “I’m pregnant.” There. She said it. “If you press down, you’ll kill the babies.” She opened her eyes and stared into his without flinching. How did she manage to get herself pregnant by this psycho? Just her luck. She really had to be more careful.
Frost stilled and stared at her with shock. He looked at her belly again. “What?” He asked quietly with disbelief. He slowly retracted his claws and removed his paw. Cubs. He hadn’t expected that. It would be…nice. He looked at her sharply. “Are you sure?” She better not be lying to him. Otherwise he would hurt her, not just throw threats in her face.
What! How dare he accuse her of lying about something like that! Desiree gave him an angry look and spat out. “Of course I’m sure! I wouldn’t lie about something so serious!” An exasperated sigh escaped her lips. “I’m telling you the truth. This is real.” She looked directly into his eyes, willing him to believe her.
Frost stared at her for several moments and then removed himself from her. “Alright then. I believe you.” For the two weeks that he had been with her, he had gotten to know her very well. She wouldn’t lie, she wasn’t like that. “You weren’t going to tell me, were you?” He asked suddenly, the anger in his voice returning. “You were going to keep it to yourself!” He stared at her accusingly, wondering what to do. After a while he came to a decision. “Alright, listen. I’ll leave you alone and I won’t bother you." She needed peace and quiet if she was going to have a successful pregnancy. "But I will return when the time comes for the cubs to be born and I will take some of them with me when they are weaned. Understood?” The look in his eyes told her that she had no choice in the matter.
Desiree rolled off her back and sat up. “No, I wasn’t. It would have been easier.” She stayed quiet, wondering what was going trough Frost’s head. Was he going to stay? She hoped not. She wouldn’t be able to forget what just happened. When he spoke, his tone made it clear that that was how things were going to be and her thoughts didn’t matter. But as she thought about it more, it seemed like a reasonable idea. She wouldn’t have to take care of all the cubs by herself. It hurt that she would have to give some of her babies, but it was in their best interest. She sighed and nodded. “I understand.”
