She had won the place she had been fighting her whole life for, she'd come out on top and finally been named heir by her mother. In one way, it was all that she'd ever wanted, in another it was almost sad to lose her twin. They had always been equals up until this point and now Ardala was having to face the world alone. Her only comfort was that when she finally took the throne, Aladra would become the council leader of the Nihang clan.
"Ugh," she groaned aloud, splashing a paw down into the lazy brook that trailed off of one of the great rivers in the jungle. Not only was she having to face this new world of being an heiress on her own, but she found that her mother's rule was a lot more complicated than she had ever let on. At time she wondered if the lions in the pride even respected her, or the law they had all been raised under.
With a frown, she pushed herself up to her paws, unable to stay still in her contemplation any longer, and began to pace up and down the side of the small stream. Would she be doomed to live a life like her mother? Tejasvi'Nila, for all her supposed glory, was little more than a captor in a jail for all that Ardala saw it, and she would not be a slave to lions that did not appreciate her hard work. Something would be done.

Unlike her sister, Sataa had no such concerns; on the contrary, she was having herself quite the lazy afternoon. While as an individual she couldn't really be called lazy, it was enjoyable to laze about every now and then. After all, as long as you weren't shirking responsibility and procrastinating, there wasn't anything wrong with taking a little time for yourself. And even then, it wasn't as if she had overmuch to do.
The blue lioness headed towards the stream, intending to have a bath - if she had a fault, it was most certainly vanity. Well, and pride, but they were more or less the same. Either way, it wasn't as though said faults consumed her, just...influenced her. Besides, everyone had theirs, and there were worse ones to have.
As she ambled into view of her goal, she saw that one of her sisters was already there, and smiled. "Afternoon, Ardala."

The sudden sound of someone else speaking startled Ardala, so much so that she whipped her head up and stared almost doe-eyed in the direction of her sister. As soon as that pelt came into view, however, she was mentally kicking herself for acting like such a fool. She had been trained to listen for when someone was coming and to never, ever react in such a silly manner. What would mother think of her and her childish behavior?
"Afternoon, Sataa," she said wearily, sighing as she plopped back down onto the ground and stared at her reflection in the water. It was unclear, wavering as the water dribbled past, but she could see the colors of her fur. It irritated her that she had let her thoughts trouble her so much, enough so that her sister had managed to sneak up on her without even meaning to.
"Ever feel like you can't do anything right?" she asked aloud, laughing sadly at the end of it.

What a strange way to react! As if Ardala hadn't heard her coming at all. It was out of character, to say the least, and something Sataa might have commented on if not for her sister's odd demeanor. While she might make the occasional friendly jibe, she was not cruel. Now was clearly not the time to make fun.
"Not really," she answered, coming to sit beside her more warmly-colored sister. And it was true - Sataa made a conscious effort to be as perfect as a mere mortal might be, and liked to think she succeeded. "What's eating you?"

A soft, almost scoffing laugh passed her maw as her sister answered her. She let her eyelids fall shut for a single moment as the cold amusement passed over her. "Of course not," she murmured, feeling (or rather sensing, more than anything) her cooler sister come to sit at her side, and choosing that moment to open her eyes and turn her indigo eyes back on her sibling.
"It's just.." she began, but then trailed off, finding it hard to look at her sister as she spoke. She looked down at the water, staring into the rippling brook. Sataa had grown up with her, there was a more intimate relationship here than with any other creature she spoke to on a daily basis. "It's this whole pride," she said finally, truthfully, where as she might have danced lightly around (or even lied about) the subject to anyone else. It sounded almost treasonous at first, before she shook her head and looked back over at her sister with a sideways glance. "They will be the death of mother, with their disrespect. I fear inheriting that fate."
