(Serenade to a Starlit Night x Antiman) It had been some time since the timid mare had gone out into the open. Her past experiences in life didn't encourage her to explore. But restlessness had finally caught within her bones, and she had to wander out a bit.
As she resided near the river, it was her first location to approach. Water was always a calming source to her, the sound it made as it danced above the rocks fed into her soul. She lowered her head to take a drink, unaware that she was attracting some attention. Gulping down greedily, her tail swished at a fly on her rump, mind elsewhere as she enjoyed the chance to be out of the cover of her home.

Antiman's eyes had caught sight of a figure emerging from the dense outcropping of trees that the river split. She seemed nervous at first, unsure of herself until her eyes had fallen upon the water. Intent on enjoying her drink, it seemed that she never looked around. If she had, she would have noticed the stallion peering at her himself.
He had never been a very social creature. He had made a slight mistake with one mare before, and after the incident he let himself slip into hiding. It wasn't because he was ashamed; he was just unsure as to what his parents would think. They were incredible to him, and he felt like he might have let them down. With a sigh, he shook those sad thoughts out of his mind. He knew deep down that they wouldn't hold it against him. The nagging bits of worry was all that was left of that incident.
Stepping out carefully, his wings folded against his sides, he approached her, not masking his coming, but not quite yelling it out, either.

The mare balked, her head shooting up as water dripped from her mouth. She heard something, and she couldn't help but panic for a moment. She was not quite scared of males, buuut they weren't in her higest regard either. Rem had seen to that quite well. She had loved her children, but they had to of inherited their attitudes from him. Quite a handful they were, and she had been full of mixed emotions when they went on with their lives.
"S-stop!" she whispered, sure that he wouldn't hear her. He wasn't that close, but he was getting closer with every step. Why was he approaching her anyway? It wasn't like she did anything wrong; she knew about this land, and wasn't trespassing at all.
Gritting her teeth, she made herself lock her legs, determined to show at least a little spine.

He stopped, confused. She seemed...scared. Still? He listened to her, though, and lowered his head a bit. His mane rustled around in the slight breeze, the forelock blocking bits of his view. His tail swished behind him, the luxury of having a skilled fly swatter unknown to him.
"Why?" he asked, raising his head up slightly so he could look at her better. She...was quite pretty. Such a long mane must mean someone was taking care of her; no wild horse could have a mane that was so clean. As well as the tail, as it dragged on the floor behind her.

She felt herself flush slighty, surprised at the open ended question. Still feeling a bit intimidated, the mare shook it off as she replied.
"Because you are a stranger! And you do not approach someone without warning, expecting everything to be fine." He looked at him defiantly, her words fueling the courage she needed to stand up to him. He wasn't much larger than her, but his wings would give him an advantage she didn't have. Though...the horn was something she had never seen before.
Shaking her head, she pulled her gaze away from it. No, don't get distracted now!

His ears swiveled forward, surprised at her sudden choice of words. He hadn't expected her to be so defensive. In fact, he liked it. She obviously had a side that was more hidden than the timid mare she seemed to be when he first looked at her.
"I am sorry," he said with a nod of his head. He did take a couple more steps closer, so he wouldn't have to speak too loudly. "It was...well, you just seemed stunning, and I couldn't help myself. I'm Antiman."

"W-what?" The mare flushed again, but she was greatful that her coat was dark. Not as dark as his, but at least it wouldn't be as obvious that she was flustered about this whole situation!
"T-that's something you shouldn't say outright!" she exclaimed, frustrated now. Rem hadn't played his game like this. He had been much sweeter. But still...he seemed. Not really like a liar, but you had to be careful.
"And just because you offered your name, doesn't mean I'm obligated to give you mine." With a pout of her lower lip, she 'hrumphd', looking away from him for a long moment. Why wasn't she walking away? Even she didn't know the answer to that one.

He lowered his head. "Am I not to speak the truth?" he asked, looking quite sheepish. Well, to think that offering a compliment would get him into such trouble! Women were strange about that, it seems. You had to offer one at the right time, or it would never mean a thing.
"I would hope that you would not wish me away; I only meant to speak with you for just a moment." He offered a smile, with a bob of his head in friendship. "I never meant to scare one like you." Perhaps there was a reason she was so on edge that he would never guess. He wouldn't try, but it was still very concerning.

She looked over at him again for a moment, a little more curious than she was just a moment ago. He meant it? And he did seem genuinely upset that she had thrown it all back in her face. She shifted a bit, still uncomfortable, but looked at him. Maybe give him a second chance? It was really her fault...even though he should have announced himself better.
With a sigh, she shook her head slightly. "I'm Serenade," she said softly, taking the moment to peer at his features a little more. Coat-wise, he was nothing special, but when you looked past that, it was definately different. The tail was the largest thing that stuck out. It almost reminded her of a cougar's tail. The horn, she knew, was that representing a unicorn. And surely one that was a mixture of two couldn't be mean, could they?

He smiled softly, feeling like perhaps it was starting to go somewhere. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Serenade. I apologize if I startled you. Perhaps we should start over. Would you care to chat?"
He...well, he wasn't the best conversationalist, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Besides, he thouht it might be quite an easy process. He took a couple steps towards her, watching her carefully. She didn't seem completely relaxed, but she was definately not as panicked as she was previously. Joy swelled in his heart; maybe he would get his own second chance as well.

Hmmmm. She eyed him carefully, but he seemed just as genuine as he could be. Rem had acted a little differently than him. More closer, more flirty. He just seemed to want to start over and give it another shot. Well, she could probably give him that shot.
"All right. Maybe just a slow stroll next to the river?" she asked, wondering if he would take it. It was a very public area, moreso than the dense forest would be. This would be the real test to see if he would take that, or push for something more. Her tail wished behind her as she waited, her eyes shining brightly with a touch of mischeviousness.

"That sounds right well with me. If you would?" He lowered his head a bit to follow her, letting her take the lead on where she might want to go. It seemed that this would be the best way for him to assure some bit of trust. Hopefully it would work out for the best.
He could only wish!
