She sighed, gently thumping her head against the side of the cavern wall. For days now, she'd sat there boredly, nothing to do and nowhere to go. Tukutu knew it was still too early for her to wander about the pride, not when Sakata was as angry as he'd seemed that fateful morning.

The hare stared at his friend, a frown plastered across his tiny face. He didn't like the fact Tukutu had been lounging around for the past week; that wasn't like her. No no no, something was wrong with his Tukutu, and he feared the worst.

He feared... mini Tukutus. But worrying wouldn't do, it was still too early to tell, right? Right. No, Tukutu was right, the chances were impossible. Improbable. Not likely.

"Go trick!" he fussed, finally speaking up and breaking the silence in the cavern, "Go make a fuss, you like a good fuss!"

Tukutu grimaced and swatted at the hare, her unspoken way of telling him to bug off. She hadn't been in the mood for tricks anyhow, even if she hadn't been the Mizimu's most wanted lioness at the current moment.

No, Tukutu didn't feel very well, but she wasn't about to dare confess that to Tapelo. Not when that could mean..... no, impossible. It couldn't be!

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

He found he despised waiting. He'd been good at it, once upon a time, but lately... oh, lately, he'd grown so weary of waiting. He wanted everything now, now, now, and he was horribly frustrated knowing that everything seemed to be working against him. Everything and everyone seemed intent on making him wait.

Rebirth was late.

He'd called for her a couple of days ago, and the Goddess was still nowhere in sight. Deeply frustrating, and horribly rude, if anyone cared to ask him, which of course... no one did. So thus, the day found Uka padding early and horribly restlessly around the perimeters of pridal grounds, no doubt in hopes of finding the one he'd summoned.

Sadly, it was not to be. However, his padding and lurking did reward him with the sound of voices, and never having been one to ignore curiosity, the large god walked right up to the mouth of the Den where Tukutu lay - he'd not bothered with a disguise, seeing as how these lands had welcomed him, and his wings were plain sight, "A fuss is only good when it's planned out, is it not?" he arched a brow at the being within the cave. At least Fate had given him something to do while he awaited Rebirth, "You wouldn't happen to know Rebirth, would you? I'm afraid she's late, and I'm horribly tired of waiting."

Tukutu's head tilted, her eyes wide with surprise at the unexpected arrival. In her mortal state still (for she'd grown accustomed to walking around as one, these past few weeks!), she paled in comparison to the god's great size.

Recovering from the startle, she simply smiled and produced her own wings, slowly morphing back into her own godly state. No one roamed this area for a good mile or so, and even if they did, well, then she'd make some fun of the situation!

"Fusses are fun to plan, yes, but a good surprise is quite a delight every now and again as well," She countered, still grinning at the stranger. "I have never been one to plan things too far in advance... it gets boring waiting, and I hate to be left waiting, you see. It appears you feel the same way?"

She felt her companion dive under her large fluffy tail and thought nothing of it. Tapelo was not used to gods other than Tukutu addressing him, so he was better off, perhaps, keeping his mouth shut for the time being.

"I have not seen Rebirth, not that I'm aware of how she looks," Tukutu answered, sounding almost apologetic. "Perhaps a description would be nice? Anansi is my father, I am Tukutu, his only godchild. I fear I do not know as many deities as the older generation, my immortal friend."

He watched as her mortal disguise washed away, her wings appearing before him as she changed. Many would have probably been surprised by such a sudden change, but the large god watched her with detached mirth shinning in his eyes; no wonder he'd been mildly attracted over to her den. The girl wasn't mortal at all, now was she?

The mirth washed away soon enough, and even though his features never showed much emotion, it was obvious he was at least, no longer bored stiff. This was interesting, and as good an entertainment as anything else would have been while he waited, "That's such a pity," he drawled as he stepped forth into the den, "Would you mind if I intrude for a short while as I wait for her to arrive?" he asked the goddess, "You see, I'm horribly tired of waiting. Waiting bores me lately, and a good chat might be just what I need to get my head out of the frustration that haunts me," he waited for her invitation to come forth, apparently quite the gentleman despite his... questionable manners when he'd rather rudely entered the den in the first place.

"Ah," he breathed suddenly, his gaze readjusting to peek at the ceiling in what could have been a sheepish gesture, though taking into account his apparently detachment and lack of emotion, it was hard to tell, "I do not know how she looks like. I will know her when I see her," he wasn't even all that sure why he was calling Rebirth a 'she'. For some reason beyond him it seemed to fit, and he was rolling with it. After all, Uka wasn't one to question things like that. His gaze settled back on the female, a mild smirk coming upon his maw, "A young goddess, I presume thus? Lovely sight that you are, my dear," a pause followed, "I won't be immortal for much longer now," he told her matter of factly, almost as if he had been talking about the whether, "That's exactly why I need Rebirth, you see."

She adjusted herself and moved closer to the wall, allowing the god additional space as he entered the cave. Her tail moved as well, gently dragging the rabbit along with it, less he find himself in the path of the large god. Tukutu had thought about rising up, to at least show a bit more respect to her elder, but her stomach had been churning horribly and she thought better of it, and gave him a respectful nod in the place of rising.

Her eyes moved over to admire his shiny jewels before rising once more to meet his gaze. He was a formidable looking fellow, quite large in size, but Tukutu found him more interesting, than anything else. And a flatterer at that. She liked flatterers.

"Not for much longer?" She asked curiously, her attention drawing back to the conversation at hand. Tending to find herself distracted with strangers, she hadn't fully been paying attention to their chat, but now things were getting interesting. Slowly the math worked out in her head, "Oh! No wonder you're in need for Rebirth!"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 3:52 pm

The large male was unperturbed by the fact Tukutu did not stand up in 'respect'. After all... he'd been dealing with Muhali for such a very long time that nothing seemed to surprise him any more. Tukutu was behaving herself extremely well, as far as he was concerned, at least taking into account what he was used to (Muhali had the attention span of a gnat and he loved her despite that).

Moving with grace (albeit tired grace), the God closed the space between them and lay down on the ground beside her. His eyes slipped briefly to her long tail, a brow arching when he finally noticed the hare that seemed to be trying to make itself vanish within the Goddess' fluff, "That's an interesting choice for a companion," however, a smile was tugging at the corners of his maw, "Insanity has a snake companion," he told her randomly before he tilted his head at her words, the movement almost childish in a way.

"Ah, yes," he drawled as he tucked his paws under his chest, his tail curling around his form, "I've... come to notice that I'm no longer what I used to be, my dear. I think I might've become too old for this, and I don't mean physically," he was, after all, well aware he could die and be rebirthed a god again, "No, I mean my soul, my dear. I am tired... in my soul. I think it's time I pass on," a mild, flat chuckle escaped him at her outburst, "Why, yes indeed; can't very well carry out my little plan without Rebirth. You see," a pause as he narrowed his eyes, "I came upon a rather interesting sight when I came to this pride."

Needless to say, he'd been surprised to find not only how the pride viewed gods, but that Muhali had children he did not know of, "I find the way they treat to be... charming. That aside I came upon someone I didn't know existed. I've been padding alongside Insanity for a very long time, and yet, never did I know that she had children within this pride," he drawled out as he regarded Tukutu, "This child of Insanity has the ability to Deny... that far surpasses my own. So I decided to switch places with her," mirth rang inside his eyes, "I thought it fitting that she take my domain."

The rabbit's ears perked as he heard the stranger's words. There were other gods with companions?

Crawling up Tukutu's side, the hare peeked out from the other side and stared at the large giant. He seemed friendly enough, but after his recent assault by the two cubs, of all creatures, Tapelo wasn't ready to trust anyyyyyyyybody, nope nope nope.

Closer further, he drew, until he was practically at Tukutu's neck.

"Tapelo's interestin'!" he huffed lowly, feeling insulted by the god's tone, but not brave enough to actually address the god himself.

Tukutu chuckled at her companion, who was acting quite silly indeed.

"Tapelo has been with me for many many adventures," She explained, one paw moving up to nudge Tapelo to come forward. The rabbit resisted and Tukutu shrugged, placing her paw once more on the ground. "Born a trickster, he's quite helpful with carrying out a few mischievous plots of my own."

She listened intently to what the god now spoke of. Finding the Mizimu'Tungika a peculiar pride indeed, she was always fascinated by the stories it provided. The goddess, although never having met Insanity herself, had certainly heard of the daughters she left behind.

"Ah, you mean the Pure?" Tukutu blurted, her manners quickly disappearing, "But, the Pure is due to be sacrificed, she couldn't possibly..."

Her face lit up as the idea struck her mind. Jinichongo would insist the Pure be sacrificed, but perhaps if these stranger's plans came into play... perhaps Tukutu could work this to her advantage and humiliate Jinichongo even further.

"Do tell me," she started, her eyes now twinkling with mischief, "That you have no particular time frame in which you wish to accomplish this?"

His gaze fell upon the hare - Tapelo, he called himself, and the God found himself smirking at the small creature, "Indeed you are. I find it interesting that a creature such as yourself chooses to willingly associate himself with a lion; mortal or not. Lions come with teeth and claws... I wonder what your story is, my friend. I am rather certain it's an interesting one to hear."

Taking into account the god seemed unwilling to move his maws from their comfortable position under his chest, it was quite possible Tapelo was safe with him, "Then again, Gods do not need to eat to sustain themselves," another smirk, "I guess your choice to join an immortal one, rather than a mortal one, was a wise one then."

His attention shifted back to the goddess as she spoke, his head nodding once; he knew what it was like to be with someone for what seemed like forever, "I do not have a creature companion, but... in a way, Muhali, Insanity, could be considered one at times. She usually picks a form that makes her look barely larger than a mortal cub," taking into account he loved her even despite THAT, well... maybe he was just screwed in the head; maybe he'd been hanging out with her for FAR too long and her insanity had affected him too, "Ah, yes. The Pure. That's her. Her name escapes me at the current moment, but that is not of consequence," he blinked at her small outburst, a brow arching, "Yes, I know she is to be sacrificed. That is why Rebirth is running horribly late - it frustrates me."

The last words were huffed out lightly, his tail slapping the ground before he blinked, noting the change of mood, "Certainly not, my dear. I am the master of the game. I am the one that tugs the strings. Everything will be ready when /I/ say so," a pause followed his words and his eyes narrowed, having recognised the twinkle in her own, "Now then, my dear, what is it, exactly, that you've brewed up in that adorably pretty little head of yours?" he couldn't deny he was interested.

He really WAS getting too old for this indeed, seeing as he couldn't even deny such a simple thing.

Tapelo hmphed, crawling over Tukutu's shoulder at last and sliding down her front until he nestled himself in between her paws. He knew his buddy wouldn't let nooobody hurt him, so he could remain quite content in his friend's arms, safe and protected from the not-so-safe world outside.

"Tapelo's bitter anyhow," he shot back, frowning. "No meat, just bones and skin!"

To emphasize, he smacked his side, immediately regretting it as the sting caused him to let out a tiny yelp. Determined to keep face, however, he spoke up again, "See? Got to be skinny to run fast and keep up with Tu!"

Her paw moved to run across the rabbit's head, gently pulling back at his ears and letting go. Tapelo could certainly be an outspoken creature when he wanted to be, but now was not the time for such discussions.

Eyes still fixated on the older lion, Tukutu's head nodded slowly. "I see. Well, I crave your audience, sir, if that is the case. You see, I have a vendetta against the Queen of this pride.... we had a rather unpleasant falling out from the moment I entered this land."

Her memories floated back to that humorous day when she'd run into the Queen at the deserted watering hole. She'd been such a priss then, and no doubt continued to be so, despite Tukutu's presence in the land. Now that Tukutu was 'banished', however, Jinichongo was no doubt as pompous as ever.

But that was going to change. That was going to change when Tukutu revealed her secret, but it would be an even greater pleasure if she were to ruin one of the most sanctified ceremonies the Mizimu'Tungika pride revered.

"The Queen will sacrifice Tifu," Tukutu continued, picking up where she left off, "But it would such a dreadful inconvenience if Tifu were to somehow find herself... unable to die, at that precise moment."

Her expression was innocent, her words were anything but. "It would pleasure me greatly, sir, if you could wait until that moment in time to do your transferring? I'm quite certain the Queen will be ready to sacrifice the Pure soon enough, with all the mischief and insanity that's befallen the land as it has."

Uka lowered his gaze to watch the hare again; such an interesting creature indeed. He could understand why the young goddess kept him nearby. Finding himself unable to help himself, he lowered his large head until he was leveled with that of outspoken creature, his brows arching mildly, "Ah, but you see, my friend... many souls out there don't really care that you might be bitter or skin and bones, Tsk, Tsk. All life is precious..." all meat was precious; it allowed others to live in turn.

Smirking, he lifted his head back up, but of course, it was clear he was merely teasing, "I don't doubt you're safe with your mischievous friend," he murmured as he readjusted his attention back to Tukutu, hearing out her plan with something akin to mirth in his eyes, "For Mischevious she is indeed."

He did not, however, agree to her plan immediately. Instead, he adopted a thoughtful expression, pondering the idea through, as if he had all the time in the world. It wasn't till he nodded again, that it was obvious he'd come to a determination, "I think I rather like the idea of going out with a proverbial bang, my dear," he told her with a throaty chuckle, "I will do as you propose then. I will fill in Rebirth upon her arrival - she can't take much longer. I'm sure she won't mind sticking around these lands, for they ARE rather the interesting lot, aren't they?"

Another nod, as if to seal the idea, "Hmmm.... you're not a good creature to cross then, I take it," then as if an afterthought, he shifted his position, "I like you. You know what you want, and you aim to get it; it's important to know one's goals," his gaze turned towards the entrance of the cave, "It will be quite the sight, to witness a mortal become a goddess mid sacrifice ceremony, I must say," a pause, and then he chuckled again, "I like you," he repeated, "Very clever. Why had I not thought of that?" his gaze slid towards Tukutu again, regarding her carefully, "I guess it's a matter of waiting now. I hate waiting - I find it a dreadfully boring task."

Tapelo bit his tongue as the large head drew closer, and his small paws gripped against the lioness's legs. He hadn't expected the larger lion to get so terribly close, no, Tapelo liked his distance against big mean 'ol looking lions with their big 'ol mean looking teeth!

He sighed a relief, though, as the lion passed him by and returned to his conversation with his Tu. Mean 'ol lion, scarin' poor Tapelo like that!

She grinned slyly at his comment, quite flattered by his words. He was a charmer for certain, and had Tukutu been any less of the deity she was, there was no telling what could have happened between them.

Her stomach lurched forward once more, as if reminding her of the possible consequences that could have occurred during her last interlude with a male that had caught her fancy. No, she'd learned from that. Still learning from that, in fact.

She grimaced, shifting to adjust herself once more, while being mindful not to inadvertently harm the small friend still tucked between her paws. Despite the pain in her stomach, her wince quickly turned into a smile as she heard his agreement to her proposition.

"It is only fit that such a rare occasion for a god be honored in such a way that it will be forever remembered by mortals and gods alike," she reasoned, straightening herself up in attempts to ease the pressure her stomach was exerting within her. "I should hope that one day, should I choose to take the same path as yourself, that I would have such a ceremony."

And it was true, really, not that Tukutu had ever thought about passing from this world, whether to return or not. If she were to leave, it would have to be memorable... she simply wasn't one for secrecy, not for such an event!

"I am not," she concurred to his statement, proudly holding her head high. She knew she was young, by gods' standards, but she was feisty and determined to make a name of herself, wherever she traveled, "Though I'm more than certain you would have come up with a clever plan on your own. For your presence alone speaks a thousand words, as I'm sure you are intimidating in both power and wisdom."

She moved her head to gaze out of the cavern, the sun setting as the moon began to slowly rise, taking its place. "Waiting is indeed boring, but sometimes... necessary." she finished reluctantly, knowing all too well the boredom patience could sometimes bring. She wondered what Sakata was doing, if he had told Jinichongo of his dirty secret. Tukutu herself wondered how exactly she would reveal such news to the Queen, but first, she was determined to figure out the truth behind her stomach pains. Then... yes, then she would concern herself with telling Jinichongo the scandalous news.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 5:47 pm

Her movements did not pass unnoticed, and had she not prickled his fancy, it was quit possible he'd have aimed a harmless jab her way. However, seeing as how she was helping him, and he was helping her, he figured jabs were out of the question, as harmless as they might've been.

Minutes passed though, and he found he could simply not help himself, "My dear, something tells me that you should be careful with how you move about. I very much doubt your shifting is going to alleviate you any time soon. In fact, if I stand correct, I think it's only going to get worse till, oh, a few moons from now," he teased softly, for after all, he'd been rather eternal - he could not remember the first time he'd been born, and he could not remember how long he had been upon the face of the earth. He was timeless, as far as he was concerned, whether it was true or not, it didn't really matter. Which of course, meant that he knew the signs of pregnancy when he saw them, albeit early ones - she'd not moved much and kept favoring her stomach. She either had a rather strange stomach ache or... she was pregnant. Something told him it was the later.

"My dear, what mischief have you gotten yourself into?" He shifted his position so that he could near her, reclining himself against the wall of the den. Then he reached out to bring the smaller goddess against him, his attitude reminiscent of father handling his daughter, "You flatter me," he told her after she'd spoken, "But I must admit I'm hardly scary when you compare me to Muhali - that is one goddess you do not wish to cross. It's usually rainbows and sunshine with her, till she snaps. Then things get bad. I pale in comparison, my dear. Not that I mind."

He shifted to further make himself comfortable, mindful of the hare in Tukutu's arms, then leaned down with hooded eyes, "Well, seeing as how we have time on our paws, and it's obvious you need a good rest.... how's say we take a long nap. Maybe things will be ready by the time we wake up."

He very much doubted it, but it was a nice thought, "Also, my dear, while we usually don't eat.... I think you might find that eatting will help your pains, these next few moons, hmmmm?"

She froze where she lay as he spoke, the truth a cold chill running across her body. Tukutu had been denying her thoughts, pushing away the nagging questions plaguing her mind these past few days and nights. Tapelo had given her looks, hell, he was giving her a look right now that screamed "I TOLD YOU SO!"

One large paw gently thwacked the rabbit, a silent warning that he'd stay quiet if he knew what was good for him. No, the truth was there, and yet Tukutu had refused to admit it. But her stomach, the occassional pain, no, she knew what it was.

She was indeed bearing Sakata's children within her.

Tukutu did not resist as the larger god pulled her closer to him. It was a nice feeling, resting against someone stronger, a feeling she'd only had one other time. While that first time had created the predicament she was now in, resting against this god felt much more comforting. There was no bite, no threat to expect from him, only warmth and comfort. If only Anansi had treated her this way, like fathers she'd seen for mortal cubs. It was difficult for the old fool to even remember Tukutu was his child at times!

Sighing, she rested her head against the older lion, ignoring the fact Tapelo had burrowed himself deeper against her fur, no doubt cursing under his breath about being right all along.

"Mischief that was not planned, I fear." She said quietly, her eyes glancing downward towards her paws. She'd had a fun time with Sakata, despite the morning aftermath, but was the fun worth the few months to come? The generation of life she'd be bringing into the world because of it?

"The Warleader has a few... unexpected arrivals on the way," she confessed, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the comfort enveloping her. "But I'm sure I'll find some way to have fun with it. After all, it's what I'm here to do."

She enjoyed hearing him speak of this Muhali, a goddess she would greatly enjoy meeting one day, preferably when her stomach was not out of sorts as it was. There was much still to explore out there in the mortal's realm, and Tukutu was anxious to experience it all for herself.

Nodding her head, she glanced up and smiled at the older lion. "I would like that very much," she admitted, returning to her nuzzling against his shoulder. He was warm, and it was nice. She needed nice, after all the trouble she'd happily gotten herself into. It was lonely, however, being the only one getting into any trouble.

"Mmmhmmmm," she agreed, her breath slowing as she felt her eyes growing more weary by the second. She enjoyed her nameless friend's company, she did, but sleep's beckoning was overwhelming, and her mind screamed for escape from those annoying pangs in her stomach. "I...s-should e-eat..." she mumbled, before finally giving in to the peaceful darkness of sleep, comfortably tucked against the large lion's protective hold.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 6:22 pm

His ears perked when she spoke; whatever it was he'd been expecting her to say, it was rather obvious what she said... was not it, "You don't say?" he murmured, and he could hardly repress the chuckle that threatened to roll forth. Oh, he'd seen the Warleader, and he knew enough from what Muhali had told him to know the large mortal was going to learn the hard way pretty soon, "Well," he said, "What goes around, comes around, I think. Perhaps he had it coming."

Glancing down at the young goddess though, it was obvious to him that she was no longer truly listening to him, having chosen instead to run along with his word of advice, for she was slowly, but surely, falling asleep against him.

Soon enough, the goddess was asleep against him, nuzzled into his shoulder, and while he knew he couldn't hear her, he thought that perhaps she'd listen to him regardless, even if in her sleep, "Don't worry, my dear. I'm sure everything will be just fine. Make the most of it; regardless of how it happened. All life is precious."

That said, he turned his gaze to watch the entrance of the den, waiting still for the arrival of the one he'd summoned, "If only..." he said, though he bit off the rest of the sentence. If only he'd met this girl long ago. If only... if only, "The world is full of 'if only's," he told the silence of the cave, then slowly moved till his head was comfortably resting over her form. Perhaps sleep would do them both good.
