Character Info
Name : Hector "Heck" Berkeley
Age : 27
Gender : Male
Appearance : Although he is far from large and imposing, his broad grin and loud personality seems to make him enormous, far larger than his actual size. He is and always has been on the long and lanky side. His mother used to complain about he not eating enough, though he was the one who often raided her cupboards on a hourly basis.
He is not nearly as young and spry as he once was and his metabolism is beginning to actually catch up with him, resulting in him gaining a bit of weight over the past year and he has to watch his immense sweet tooth, but he is far from plump and his features and movements tend to be sharp. His hair is a medley of reddish brown tones and blond tends to sneak in small strands every so often. He never has been one to keep his hair neat and trim, so it often falls shaggy past his ears. If anyone asks or complains, he is sure to justify it with just how busy he tends to be.
His eyes are a sharp emerald hue and, although they often sparkle with glee, they take in almost every little bit of information his surroundings hold.
As far as dress goes, he tends to clad himself as well as he can afford to. He came from a rather well to do family and he tends to do well for himself in his profession. Soft, light clothing of green and blue hues tend to be his favorite, though when busy scouting he usually opts for a gray suit.
Personality : Heck has always and forever will be on the extroverted side. He tends to either draw or be drawn to a crowd that matches his own loud personality. He had always been a social thing, even as a child, an much of that was contributed to his extensive family. His father found riches in the wonderful world of artistry. He was paid well for his work as a painter, often serving the higher classes of folks, and thus was able to support five children, Hector being the youngest.
Rivalries often sprung up and Hector fought with his older siblings often in an attempt for dominance. It didn't help that he was on the small side, but his older brother often gave in to the mite that protested him so often. Though toughened by his older siblings, he is far from aggressive and often expresses a soft and affectionate side to those he loves and trusts.
Just how hard working and insightful he was wasn't discovered completely until he obtained the opportunity to attend school. Although he carries a lax and carefree air about him, he is never one to laze about and puts great care and detail into every aspect of his current task. He loves working and running errands for those higher than he in hierarchy and he tends to be extremely persistent.
Much like his father, he is extremely skillful with his hands and at one time wished to follow in his father's footsteps, though that dream never came to be. When he has the opportunity, he loves to share what skill he has with the students, to teach them to paint. He has a terrible love for sweets, as well as scents, and often is known to indulge in pastries and tasty treats from town, as well as burning scented candles in his living quarters.
He does tend to be territorial and materialistic than some of his colleagues, but then again, it could be just part of growing up the youngest out of so many siblings. He adores silly little trinkets and is one who will fight back if he feels his "areas" are being taken over or that his own thoughts and ideas are being trod upon.

History : Hector Berkeley was born the youngest son of a Painter and a Housewife. There were four children before him, two older brothers and two older sisters. As it tends to happen, he was often considered annoying by his siblings and was coddled by his mother, but all in all he grew up happily and held all of his family in good standings. He loved them all dearly, even if his brothers insisted on calling him a "mamma's boy" and his sisters were grossed out by his fascination with creepy crawlies as a child.
Life went on the same for years, until Heck turned nine.
Much money had been set aside for the freckled, red haired youth by his father, though he was oblivious to this. It was high time, he had said, that the child receive a proper education elsewhere. It had been a shock to Hector, who usually took things in strides. He fussed and complained, but eventually settled down and wore a smile, pretending that all was right with the world and everything was fine.
His heart was broken completely as he was shipped off to a local school. It wasn't far away, but it felt as though it were to the young boy. Traitors. His family shipped him off to a school for boys his age, but they were still traitors. This was not what he wanted.
He at least wished to train under his father in the way of paints, but that was not to be.
Lonely and confused, that was what brought his daemon into manifesting. The boy was missing his family, his home, and the familiar woodlands nearby that he often scoured for toads and lizards. He was surrounded by strange boys and, while he usually enjoyed being social, out and about, for some reason several targeted him and picked on him for being what they called "queer." He was still quite young and couldn't understand just what was taking place, but he did feel lonely pangs due to separation and the lack of friends he had in this new, strange place.
After several fights and his daemon's manifestation, he was moved to Jaradin College, where he has lived ever since. Festaever helped him settle down and he worked diligently, first as a student, then as a scholar, and currently as a scout. He is almost always busy and, though he loved his studies, preferred to move out and about and mingle with the townsfolk.
There came a point when he just couldn't scout and study, so he settled for the most social of the two. He absolutely loves trying to persuade the next generations to settle into Jaradin as students, as it is an incredible opportunity to learn more bout their daemons and to receive a fine education.
