I noticed some white worms growing in my puffer tank the other day. They look exactly like microworms [teeny tiny worms grown in oatmeal cultures and used to feed fry/larvae]. They don't seem to be doing any harm, but I wonder if anyone knows what they might be?

Sounds like Planaria to me. They don't harm fish, but are a sign of too much uneaten food lying around. I've had an infestation years back and solved it by giving the tank a good cleaning. Maybe it's an idea to add some scavengers to the tank to clean up leftovers?
Here's a link on them: http://onedersave.com/blog/105/planaria-how-to-get-rid-of-white-worms-in-the-aquarium/

Really? I thought planaria were bigger and shaped differently, but it could be since sometimes the puffers don't eat all their worms. I don't know how well scavengers would go in that tank. They love snails and would probably eat any shrimp as well. I'll just have to clean it more. Thanks ^_^

Yeah, I heard salt works too on them. I'm guessing they are still babies? The ones I had wen't very large eighter.
I looked up some info on puffer compatiblity with the traditional clean up crew; shrimp. Appearently it will depend on the puffer. Here are two links discussing the topic. http://www.dwarfpuffers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&p=66143 http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/planted-nano-tanks/84020-5gal-dwarf-puffer-tank-can-i.html
It sounds a lot like what I heard about bettas and shrimp.
Good luck with getting rid of the wormies.

Thank you very much for looking that up! I think I might give ghost shrimp a try. They're pretty hard to see, so maybe the puffers won't even notice them. They do a great job of keeping my main tank clean, definitely worth a try. And if they end up getting eaten, then I guess it was a good live meal for my Puffers. I'll buy a few dollars worth and quarantine them in my brother's tank.
