Kea1:42 PMKupa grinned as he crouched down, his eyes firmly locked on the small green lizard that was basking in the sun just a few paces away. The red cub's tail and haunches squirmed as he tried to contain himself, waiting for the bst possible moment before.....POUNCE!!
Kupa looked as smug as any cub could be with a lizard dangling from his jaws. When he could find his mother or Nana to give his prize to, he went in search of one of his sisters.
splitpersonalityumoOnalim was busy digging in the cool mud of the river bank. Though she knew she wasn't supposed to into the water, she was thrilled with the feeling of the mud against her pale paws. She pondered all the fun things she could do with the mud, including rolling in it to look more like their mother. She bent her head down, rubbing her cheek through the dark filth with a smile. Anything to be more like Mommy
Kea"MHMMMM" came the rumbling sound of her brother from behind her. Kupa blinked studying his sister before giggling faintly. She was rather silly, but she was always nice to him. Beaming proudly around his might 'kill' He pranced towards her before laying the lizard at her muddy feet. "For you sis!"
splitpersonalityumoOnalim lifted her head and gazed at her red brother, one she was fond of. He was sweet and kind to her-which she liked. She smiled. "Kuuuupa!" She said softly, turning to face him fully. Her green eyes shown as she gazed down at his prize. A lizard. He must have caught it himself. "For me? How come?" She asked, lifting her pale head to look at her brother with a kind smile
KeaHe butted his head against her gently, not caring it smeared mud on his nose and forehead. "Well, I'm a boy right? I am suppose to take care of you girls. " He nodded as he grinned at her again. "And I am gonna be a mighty hunter, the best in the pride so I gotta practice!"
splitpersonalityumoOnalim bent down and sniffed the lizard, before looking up and smiling widely. A fine kill. She giggled at her brothers muddied face and proceeded to cover herself in it more. "Look Kupa. I can be more like Mommy!" She said, rolling onto her back and giving herself a might twist, sending bits of dirt and filth flying every which-a-way. She giggled, wiggling more. "Practice makes perfect Kupa! Mommy and Daddy will be proud!"
KeaHe giggled watched her roll in the mud. She did kinda look like their mother when she was all muddy. Deciding that it looked like too much fun not to join, he gave a happy little roar and dove into the mud right beside her, wiggling like a landed fish.
splitpersonalityumoShe laughed, her happiness apparent. She rolled until almost every part of her pale pelt was covered in darkness. She felt pretty content at this-since she felt she should look more like their mother Mawu, even though her pelt was not considered a good one. She was proud of her Mommy... and so was their grandma, whom Onalim took a liking to right away. Grandma was good.
KeaKupa made happy little grunting sounds, much like a pig, coating himself form head to tail tuff with the thick clingy mud. He grinned at his sister, "I bet if we go lay out and let it dry it will make our fur STAY dark like momma's!"
splitpersonalityumoShe sat up and gave her brother a cheeky smile. What a marvelous idea. She proceeded to use her paws to scoop the mud up on her to cheeks, where she rubbed them in. "Won't Mommy be proud of us!" She said, her green eyes shining. Personally, she didn't care if her Father cared. She didn't really like him much at all. She stood up, a now black lion cub. "Did I get it all?"
KeaHe paced around her slowly, reaching out to smear a bit of mud ever so often into a spot she had missed before nodding. "Yup! How about me?"
splitpersonalityumoShe looked up up and down and gave him a big grin. "There. Now we look like Mommy, except for the stripes..." She said, looking at her paws and back. She was happy to see that her wings were covered, she hated sharing wings with their father. She looked even happier about this, looking To Kupa. "We should look for Mommy and show her!" She said proudly. "She'll be so happy."
Kea"Kay!" He beamed at her, happy to do anything that she wanted to do. He knew others might thing it weird, but he adored just following his sisters around being their willing accomplace into mischeif
splitpersonalityumoShe stood up and quickly and started walking towards where their den site was. She lifted her blackened paws high, her head high, tail high. She was visably proud to show her dark colors. She hummed a small tune, her tail curling over her back. And the thought of her father seeing that she no longer looked like him-made her happier. "Dad won't recognize us!" She said shrilly
KeaKupa cocked his head to the side at her words. Sure he knew their father didn't really want to be there with them. Once or twice he had caught the older male staring towards the swamplands with a look of longing on his face, but still he didn't leave them. "Do you hate him sissy?"
splitpersonalityumoShe paused in her stride and set her paw down. She stood in thought. She then turned and with a scowl, spoke. "He hates us... so why shouldn't we hate him!" She said, with narrowed eyes. "He doesn't want to be here with Mommy and it hurts her so... so why should we like him." She said, looking away and sitting down. "All he does is wish he wasn't here! I can tell. And Mommy won't say anything to him-she just-keeps occupide with us."
KeaHe sighed softly going to put one paw on her shoulder and pull her against his larger body. "he doesn't hate us sissy, he is just very sad. I don't know why though. And yes mommy is sad, but we are here to take care of her so she doesn't need him. You'll see. When I am all grown up I will take care of all of you girls and mommy and Nana. Don't hate daddy, feel sorry for him that he won't have the love from us that mommy does."
splitpersonalityumo: Onalim sat with a frown on her face. In time she would come to really truly hate him. It was a sad truth. She sighed and leaned against her brother. 'I don't care... I hate him. He doesn't want to be here-so why doesn't he just go away!" She said sadly, her head lowering in her woe. "Mommy has to fake being happy... and that hurts. It hurts her and us. And grandma can see it too."
KeaKupa began to purr softly as he rubbed his head against her's. "Don't know.
But you and mommy and all the girls will always have me."
splitpersonalityumoShe nodded as her brother spoke. It was true. THey had each other and they had family. They didn't need Vestip. They could survive without him. She wished he'd just go and be happy someplace else so they could be happy. She sighed. "Yep. You will take care of us right Kupa. Forever and ever!
Kea"Yup!" He beamed at her. "Now let's go show mommy and Nana our new colors!"
splitpersonalityumoShe nodded quickly and began to run towards their family. she was eally excited about seeing the expression on her families face. Little did she know, her Grandma would be eager to clean them both by herself while Mawu felt pretty darn good about being loved so much by her cubs.
