The contract had been signed.

Even if the Pure hadn't been entirely aware of what she'd agreed to... she had still agreed regardless of the fact. That meant that she had unknowingly set Uka's plan into motion.

Days had passed since his talk with the purple hued lioness, but something told him that it wouldn't be much longer. Uka raised his head to look up at the sky with hooded eyes, scanning the clouds in search of something; it really couldn't be much longer, "Late," he murmured to himself, but otherwise said nothing, choosing instead to exhale a tired breath of air, "Of course she's late," he rumbled deep in his chest, his voice languid, almost emotionless and detached, "Of course."

Not that it matter though, because the contract had been signed. That's all he needed to know... to remember. It was just hence forth a matter of time and patience. He could wait a little longer; he'd had eternity after all. He just hoped that the verbal contract... attracted the one he needed to see into the lands.

He couldn't do this alone. He needed help.

It was hard to have a clear concept of time when one was always forgetting exactly what to do. The pull was strong, no doubt, but it was so easy to get sidetracked by a million little things, especially when one was essentially following the trail with no idea where it led at times. It was a duty, she knew, and often times when she had somewhere to be, she didn't realize what it was for until she arrived. This case would be no different, but at least she arrived eventually. Heaven help the soul that needed her promptly.

The closer she got to her destination, however, the more urgent the urge to see her duty done became. The closer she drew to the lands, the more she remembered her purpose, like a light slowly growing in the distance. It wasn't until she saw the dappled male settled against the ground below that she knew who had called to her. She simply knew, and she didn't question it.

She dipped down to land on the ground, folding her wings neatly against her back as she did so. She had landed within sight of the male, and she wasted no time making her way in his direction. Though, once she was within talking distance, she simply sat, tail trailing out behind her, and tilted her head at him as if to wait for him to speak. She'd been summoned by him, so she certainly didn't have anything to ask!

Most would have been blinded by her beauty, many would have gawked openly at her, and others would have been rendered wordless, no doubt. Uka however, instead of choosing any of the aforementioned routes of action, decided to frown lightly at the goddess as she approached him, seemingly unperturbed by her appearance, "You're late," he told her matter-of-factly, his voice still bland and devoid emotion, much like it always was, "What kept you? I grow weary," the words were drawled out to her, as if he'd been made to wait for eons, rather than just a few days.

He regarded her silently for a long moment, his eyes traveling up her form before they narrowed and he pushed himself up to a standing position, "I need your help," he finally said, and something about the way he spoke made it seem as if he weren't all that happy to have to be asking her for help. It was almost as if he wished he didn't need any help, "I need you to lend me your powers; I'm ready to pass on, and I can not do this alone."

There was a pause in his speech before he lifted his head up proudly; he would not be judged for his decision. It was just... merely time for him to let go, "Help me," he said, and then thought twice, "Please," the word was released from his very depths, his head turning to glance away from her.

She stared at him blankly for a few minutes as he spoke, her bright eyes simply watching his form as he moved about. Then, an inkling of recognition sparked in their depths and she narrowed them minimally, as if she were finally paying attention to what he was saying.

Late? She was never late, at least not that she could recall. She always got where she needed to be in a perfectly reasonable amount of time as far as she was concerned. Of course, there is the little matter of her memory not being perfect, and the fact that her idea of reasonable not being quite the same as the general populace.

"Of course you can't do it alone," she chirped, an amused smile on your face, "you certainly aren't the god of rebirth." For someone talking about someone else's death, she was particularly cheerful. Though, after a moment, her face turned into a frown, and she simply shook her head. "You really aren't eligible for a simple rebirth though, do you know that? You're not dying." Her attitude had gone from cheer to business, but she at least seemed to be taking him serious finally. "Although, if I've been summoned, it means you've arranged something." Her eyes drifted around her as if the answer might pop out of the ground, but quickly shifted back to him with a small furrow of confusion creasing her brow.

"Hmmmmm..." it was either a sound of mild annoyance, or mirth masked with frustration; it was hard to tell, really. Then again, he was in love with Insanity, which meant he wasn't particularly the easiest of lions to read and understand. There were times he didn't really even understand himself. That was fine with him though; understanding clouded his mind. It wasn't till he'd realised he was in love with Insanity, no longer in denial about it, that he'd known it was finally time to give it up.

He was too old for this.

"Indeed," he drawled out at her, though it was hard to tell if he was mocking her with the single word, or was honestly amused that she felt the need to tell him he wasn't Rebirth. It wasn't till she spoke again that the first signs of emotion sparked is eyes, followed by the ghost of a smirk tugging at his maw, "Indeed?" he said again. The mirth came and went, flickering emotions, for the God was apparently able to switch through moods at the drop of a hat, "It's ahhh... legal," he started, "She agreed to take my place as Denial - which means I need to be reborn as a mortal, per say, and she needs to be reborn as Denial, my domain," a pause followed, the silence making it obvious he wasn't really dishing out names.

This 'she' that he'd gotten consent from was to remain unnamed, "I have her con cent. She's willing and so am I," he told the goddess, though it was also obvious that this 'she' he spoke of probably didn't really know what she's agreed to, "Words are easy to twist. I need your help," another pause followed, during which he frown, "I am too old for this."

Whether he was mocking her or not, it seemed to phase the goddess very little. She just stared at him, her head cocking a little again, her expression rather blank. It seemed all attempts to make fun of her rather obvious exclamations were lost upon her.

"Legal?" she asked slowly, her brows drawing down as she watched him. Something in the back of her mind itched at her, especially because of the way he refused to say the 'her' name, but if she was here then it meant the girl really had agreed to it. She wasn't the goddess of judgment, she wasn't here to decide just how binding the contract was.

"Who would want to be a mortal?" she said, her nose wrinkling slightly at the thought. It wasn't really anything to do with what they were talking about, and certainly a branch off from the conversation he was having, but it was a thought that occurred to her and as usual, it was blurted out without a care in the world.

"Well," she sighed, pushing herself up to her feet, "it seems fine to me. If I was called here, that means you got her consent one way or another, that much is true." She ruffled her wings a little against her back, fluffed out her tail plume for good measure. "I want to see her, though." It was tacked on at the end of her words, out of the blue, as if she'd only just decided she needed to.

Another smirk as the God regarded her, "Why, my dear... one that has lived forever, of course," it was a paradox, really, but he was just so tired. He was sure that he wasn't the first God to have done this; not by a long shot, "Eternity can be rather... bland when you get used to it. It is tiresome," he let out a sigh as he settled himself into a comfortable sitting position before her, "I grow weary. I feel my time has come."

Then he snorted mildly, his wings stretching out the feelings of pins and needles from remaining unused before he folded them back, "Legal, yes," he murmured, "Some souls need to be careful what they wish for. Words are horribly powerful. I've always liked that; the power of words," his eyes slid back to her, narrowing slightly. It took him a moment or two, but then he nodded slightly, "Yes," he said, "So you do... so you do," pushing himself to his feet, the male began to walk, never looking back to see if the goddess was following him.

After all, why bother checking? This had been her idea. He was sure she'd follow, "Such a sweet little thing that she is," he murmured as he climbed up a particularly difficult rock formation with ease (he would miss the wings when he became mortal, he was sure of it), "Alas, she plays my game better than I do - I'm no good at this any more. I can't even deny I've fallen in love with Insanity. How far would that get me, given my job?" when he reached the peak of the rock formation, Uka stared down, where a lithe purple female lay on the ground near a den, apparently not even aware she was being watched by two gods, "There she is," he motioned down to her, then slid his gaze to the goddess again, "I have a request though - it is not time yet. Not quite yet. When I go.... I desire to go with a bang," the smirk curled his maw once more, his tail swishing behind him, "However, I need your permission, and your help to carry that out."

"I don't find anything bland in eternity," she said pleasantly, a bright smile on her face as she stared back at him. Then again, when she could barely remember what she had for breakfast, there probably wasn't much that she didn't enjoy. Every day was like a brand new beginning in her book!

Wait, why were they walking? Ugh, didn't that big oaf realize he had wings? With an irritating sigh she followed after him, narrowing her eyes on the back of his head. If they were going to walk up a rock formation, would it just be easier to glide to the top? No wonder he wanted to be reborn, the old fool already thought he was mortal. Fitting for someone in denial - she wanted to give him a good shake.

"Hmm," she said softly as she topped the ridge and stood looking down at the female from his side. She was quite the pretty little thing, though all his claims of sweetness and game playing she would have to take his word on. "You did pick an odd one," she commented lightly, though her memory of Insanity was only a fleeting one, tickling in the back of her mind - she probably only remembered that fraction because she was staring down at a great likeness of her.

"Whatever you want," she said with a small shrug, turning to face him. If she had to wait for this to happen, however, that meant she was stuck in these lands - the farther she got from him right now, the more annoying that urge of duty would become. "I just need to know what you want, so I know my role."

A snort of mild amusement was all the answer he offered her; maybe he really WAS too old for this, seeing as how he thought that honestly... eternity was horribly boring now. It was someone else's turn now. And heck, plotting this whole ordeal was the most fun he'd had in ages. He could help the smirk that curled his maw when he'd noticed her frustration when they'd walked, and if anything, he'd probably done so just to irritate her.

It was such a pity, in a way, he was about to sign the deal with her and hand over immortality, because she was horribly entertaining, "Ah, yes... she is odd, but oh so fitting. And ironic, too," he murmured as he sat down, still watching the Pure bellow, "It seems fitting that Insanity's daughter should inherit my domain. A stroke of genius on my part, if I do say so myself. The child is entirely and completely in denial - This whole pride is, really," he motioned to the lioness bellow, "But she... oh, she tops them by far. I rather like her. And it has nothing to do with whom her mother is."

It was odd that he liked her (and possibly odder yet that he liked Rebirth too), for Uka found that he rarely liked anyone, and even when he did, he was usually in denial about it. It was odd to know he liked them... out of place.

"I just want you to wait," he told her, "Just a little bit, not much," he sniffed the air, "It's almost time, soon enough..." a pause as he glanced down to the lioness bellow again, "She is the Pure of this pride - a potent sacrifice. She will willingly walk to her death, by the paw of her own mate, no less, and it is at that time, right before her soul is consumed that I want you to do the transfer. I want her reborn as a goddess, and myself as a mortal - it will appear to the members of this pride that instead of falling to her death, the Pure, for whatever reason, has become a greater spirit," he finished, then smiled, "And it will amuse me greatly. Do we have a deal?"

Her words faded off into silence as he began to tell her the story of the girl below, her connection to Insanity, and the pride that this all involved. It all seemed like a great mess, to be quite honest, but a fun mess none-the-less! If she had to be stuck somewhere until he decided it was time to move on, then she supposed this odd pride was a good place to be. Maybe she'd find some interesting characters to play with while she was here.

"Well, I suppose if you're going to pick someone to take your domain, you picked someone good." She let a soft smirk spread across her maw as she looked down at the purple lioness again. She wouldn't even know where to begin looking for someone to take her domain if she ever decided to give it up. Better him than her!

"That really will be a bang, won't it?" her eyes snapped up from the lioness, back to him, as a peal of laughter spread her maw. She did like games, and childish things, so a big surprise was right up her ally. "I can wait. It seems, the way you speak of it, like her walk of death may not be far from now anyway." Her tail plume twitched behind her, fanning out for a moment. "I'll be around until you need me, then," she said rather pleasantly, her eyes already drifting off towards where she suspected the pride heart to be.

"Indeed," he drawled out to her, "I find I rather like the idea of 'bang', in all honesty. I got idea from... someone, a few days ago. Seems horribly entertaining, and if I'm lacking something lately, it's entertainment," he stood up then, moving away from the edge of the cliff, "I'm sure you'll find entertainment in this pride while you wait - they're an... interesting lot, to say the least. They are perfectly aware of our existence and seem content to mingle with us, so disguises are not needed."

That said he motioned with his paw towards where she was looking; indeed the heart of the pride, "You should show yourself to them, but make sure you do not reveal your domain. I wish this to be a surprise, and it would stop being a surprise if you do that. That said.... it might be fun to keep them guessing," he nodded as she agreed to stay till he was ready, "Ah, yes... I feel it in my bones, and I feel it in the air. It won't be long now," he then turned away from the goddess and began to walk away, no doubt intent on returning to whatever had occupied his time before her arrival.

He paused though and looked back at her, "My name is Ukatazaji," he told her suddenly, as if an afterthought, "Denial is my domain, and it was quite the pleasure to meet you, even if you were late," he added the later as if an attempt to make a small jab at her, "I find it such a shame that I never did get to know you," the words were thoughtful, "What could have been and what will be.... different things. I could have grown to like you very much, my dear, alas, maybe in a different life," he left those words hanging in the air as he descended the rocky formation and left.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:52 pm

A pleased smile replaced her smirk as he told her just how entertaining this pride could be. "No disguises? That's rare," she commented, remembering just how odd some lions reacted to seeing a big, winged lion drop from the sky. On one hand, it would be a disappointment to not be able to see that, on the other - it was a new experience to be had.

"A game," she said with a small laugh, pleasure dancing in her eyes at the mere thought of it. She didn't often get to play with mortals but oh, this was so very appealing. She puffed up her tail a bit as she moved forward a little on the face cliff, teetering on the edge as she perched on the edge to peer farther into the distance.

Her attention snapped away from the pride in the distance as he suddenly turned back to her, to tell her his name. A frown faded into place, her brow furrowing as he left her with such a sad thought. "I'm Na'ira," she said softly after him, her wings rustling on her back. It would have been nice to have a friend, why didn't she have any friends? Then, with a short peal of laughter, the frown and sadness vanished like a whip crack, and she leaped up to take to the skies, soaring up and towards the pride heart. "But I am never late!" she called out, laughing as she soared off into the distance.
