Chivosi ducked back from the riverbank as Mene's exuberant romping sent water splashing in her direction - she had just managed to dry her fur and had no desire to repeat the process at the moment.

"They're going to be here soon"

She barked out to him before padding along the riverbank and looking off into the woods - the two had arranged for a large gathering of their quickly growing group, and Chiv was somewhat nervous. Shaking her pelt she pulled herself into a more confident mindset - no time for nerves now she told herself, besides she was quite sure they were doing the right thing Mene and her - giving a home to wandering souls. A lot of responsability to be sure - but they had Merrill to help them and Chiv had great faith in the purple pelted beta.

Such thoughts drove the nerves away and Chiv flagged her tail at Mene, ear's pricked and head high as she listened for any signs of their approaching band.

He was content today, waking along the very tip of a meadow claimed by the members of this YMCA establishment. Today seemed to bring out the rest of the wolves who belonged here, a mixture of modest hues who all stirred with important chatter. He clambered to close the distance, hiking an ear nonchalantly to catch what was said; The Alpha’s wanted to meet with the pack early this morning, from there, the tones quieted leaving him desperate to hear more. This was good news; they said later in the conversations, that this meant the pack would be heading to a more permanent future...

It was inevitable, but fearsome nonetheless...Enli would be faced with more of the pack in a larger scale today, which he had reason enough to fear! Having only introduced himself to one member, who he hoped had shared her knowledge of him with the others promptly, the male was not sure how the rest would take his approach. A good enough reason to fear, he thought, yes; very good.

Shaking off the midnight tremors, he caught the shift in the pack as they moved toward the river (Merrill had mentioned this as a marker before.) and Enli followed along the fringes, careful not to mingle with the masses.

Nerves began to swelter in him, propelling him forward with longer strides than the rest. He reached a wafting trail of two wolves, and figured it to be Chivosi and Menelaus, which did not help to ease the fear. Soon he was near the banks, where the feet of his soon-to-be Alpha’s were planted firmly into the sands and as Enli approached with one ear erect and his blackened tail dangling loosely, he stopped just before the clearing to smile sweetly.

“Chivosi, Menelaus, it is a pleasure to finally meet the two of you.” Bowing his head, the lofty male trot into view and settled himself before the alphas, his smile still gleaming.

Merely a minute after the green male's entrance came the familiar pink and blue-marked face of the beta, striding casually in with a small yawn. A strange scent, vaguely like rotting meat, came behind her from a different source, two dots of silver in the brush and a skeletal brown form, long whiskers limp about his muzzle - another wolf it was, yet it looked to be more an overgrown rat than any sort of canine. Yet for all the world Merrill was not affected by the muted stench, having made sure that this particular member had at least tired a bath before presenting itself to the alphas.

"Afternoon, all," she replied to them with a nod in their general direction. "Lovely nap I had. Business time by the sounds of it, so let's get started. The one before me I've mentioned to you, I believe, Si, Mene-Pup? Enli or something like that." It was a silent assumption that this would not be for long, if her habit of nicknaming meant anything. "The one behind me I call Ratrace; Edgar to you. Comes with a bit of a troublesome scent, yes, but if nothing else he can sniff out those close to dying pretty well," Merrill stated as easily as if she were saying the sky was blue.

User ImageMenelaus was having more than fun that morning. His tension was wearing off as he frolicked through the water and soaked himself to the bone. Oh how he loved the pure refreshing feeling of it all. The cool water, the warming sun. A perfect day for the first banding of the YMCA. As perfect as can be for total strangers to meet up and try and get along right on the get go.

He'd only just convinced Marrihk to join him and Chiv on meeting the others. Though Marr was quite a bit behind them, hidden with his glowing purple eye's the only thing truly giving him away in the shadows. "Come out of there Marrihk, meet the rest of us." Menelaus was smiling as warmly as any but, Marrihk seemed to only appeal to Chiv's constant pestering and talking to him. This little bit annoyed Mene-Pup just a tad at times but, he forgave as quick as the west wind would blow. He smiled and moved on when Marrihk politely said no.

"It's nice to meet youas well new friend." Menlaus was taking Chiv's approach to being more polite than being mroe alpha-y. It made him feel better too. "Welcome to our lands. I hope Merrill.. was easy on you?" Menelaus laughed and gazed over at the freshly risen Merrill who happened to stride in just after the green wolf made his entrance and greeting.

"Good morning Sunshine!" Mene-pup wagged his tail in greeting to the beta of their group and he only took a moment to catch the scent of the other wolf. More a stench then anything. "Well hello." He said, his wolfish grin he gave to the rest didn't even stammer from his muzzle. The stench was strong but, tolerable. they'd have to get sued to it. "Welcome." He said as Merrill introduced the wolf. "Welcome Edgar and Enli. Such a pleasure. The wolf to the rear of the river is Marrihk. Just behind Chivosi over there." By rear he meant the opposing side. He wasn't much for words. But, when Marrihks name was mentioned the glowing purple eye's were sure to pop up and they did.

"He's a bit shy." He said leaning to Merrill.

User Image Chivosi during the rest of the introductions had been crouching on the riverbed and attempting to lure Merrihk out into the open, assuring him that everyone was quite friendly and wouldn't hurt him in any way, why she wouldn't let them even if in some strange reality they tried to.

Despite this she had kept an ear flicked towards the others and caught their names. Turning her head she rose and faced them for the moment giving up on luring the shy purple eyed wolf into their midst - he'd get used to everyone eventually she thought. Stepping up beside Mene she let her eyes flickered over the others - they paused a bit at Edgar - he was an unusual sort and she could see quite plainly why Merrill had chosen to dub him RatRace. She kept a pleasant look on her face however and let her eyes settle on he other newcomer. A pretty green male who had announced himself as Enli.

"Welcome Enli..Edgar, I'm sure Merrihk will get to know you all soon, he's a bit skittish but I think he has a good heart"

She greeted them all in a friendly voice.

"I'm not sure how much Merrill has told you all...but Mene and I were the lonely wandering sort before ll of this - much like the rest of you I believe, Merrill too was in between jobs as beta, but when we came together our lives were much more fulfilling - everyone needs company from time to time and after a few discussion we decided to open our little unit to others like us - the wanderer's and the lost who need homes, or just a safe place to stay for a time..."

She trailed off to let either Merril or Mene pickup the thread of the story.

"Sunshine", was it? If she didn't know him any better, she might have thought that a sarcastic comment. "Didn't really get to explain to Green Hare here," Merrill continued when her alpha trailed off, nodding to Enli. "And a recapitulation for Ratrace and your shy friend behind you, Mene-Pup. This pack will apparantly be called You May Always Come: YMCA for short. This pack will be very loose for most in that they can stay for as little or as long as they need in safety, or as an opportunity for those looking for a friendly pack away from the cluster to our southwest, if your directions are poor. We will be an inn, a hospital, and an orphanage as well as any normal pack. Am I right so far?" Ever able to chit chat her head off without needing second wind, she looked to Menelaus and Chivosi for affirmation.

Menelaus gave a nod, a smile and seated. "This pack is for wanderers, in search of any kind of peace in their life. And we're here to give it. Freedom is our value." He gazed now from Merrill to the rest of the wolves and smiled his sweetest to Chiv who was right next to him.

"So trust us Marrihk." He said boldly, staring straight ahead, not at Marrihks position behind him. The black and white wolf was soon up and had a nose poking through but, posed to do no less than that. Menelaus would not force but, it was frustrating.

He continued on smiling none the less and moved on.

"There of course will be rules. As any freedom does have." He nods again but, this time to himself. "The basic.. Follow the leaders. Myself, Chivosi and Merrill." He looked to each Chivosi and Merrill in turn as if to make it that much clearer.

"There will be no harming one another, of course you are entitled to your own opinion of others but, this is a safe haven." He let his eye's sweep over the new wolves again.

"Care to continue Chiv?" He looked to his partner and smiled, the dead stare gone that he was using to try and make the rules stick. He'd only said two but, there'd be so much more. For now the basics had to be laid out.

Chivosi had remained silent as Merrill and Mene continued their run through of the basic pack structure, unlike Mene and his pointed stare Chivosi gave them all kind looks, she was far too tender hearted to try and scare them into listening to her, rather she just expected that they would and woe behold any who didn't. Chivosi took allot to anger - but once angry was not a pretty sight.

"Of course loyalty to the pack should be first and foremost on everyone's mind,we are a safe haven - and all of us have to help make it so, some of our members will be young or lost or otherwise looked down upon and we mustn't let any danger past our guard. This will be extra hard for our pack - as we will have many wolves coming and going, but I expect us all to put our best paw forward on that front."

She paused for a few moment's giving them time to process that information before continuing.

"I rather hope to establish a nice core group of permanent members to achieve greater security, and better care for those who may need it - but every one regardless of how long they plan on staying will be expected to pitch in as needed."

Glancing around her she found herself rather hoping that some of these founding members would remain and become the strong permanent core she desired. Every mountain after all needs a strong base on which to stand. Her eyes shifted to Merrill so that she could continue where she and Mene had left off.

"Aaaaaaand I believe that should be everything?" Merrill concluded when she caught Chivosi's eye. "This is a simple pack with simple rules, buckoes, and that's all there is to it. You're gathered here because you either like the idea or got somehow pulled in by one of us. Feel free to stay for today and see if you like YMCA in action. Right now we need to let ourselves be known while also being discreet at the same time," she stated with a look to her alphas, "because giving hope is all we should do without letting more hostile packs get a clear pinpoint on us; we're a severe target should something like pack wars begin."

His eyes darted across the arriving members, blue haze traveling and nodding like a drone would; he lost himself in the commotion. Words were said, and though he heard and understand, he also was dazed by the scent of this 'Rat' fellow, and the nervousness of a member named Merrihk? Or something to that effect. It was all so much for him, almost too much.

He was willing to cope, however, because he wanted acceptance. He went out of his way to gain attention from the purple she-wolf and was not about to high tail out of here due to a little discomfort...this was all tolerable. "YMCA" he spoke softly, acknowledging the title and twirling it about with his tongue like fine wine. The pack would consist of welcoming members, kind hearted souls who offered a place to stay for those who had no where to go. He appreciated their efforts to build something like this up, and further more was pleased to be a founding father to it, in a sense.

It occurred to him as Merrill spoke, that their docile nature would indeed make them targets. It wasn't about to chase him off, but definitely stuck to him near the back of his thoughts; he'd remember this fact, and build up the strength to defend his new home and alphas if a war indeed broke out. It was only realistic to be aware, and prepared.

"Thank you, everyone." He spoke, turning his face to each member he could see clearly. "I can't wait to see what the future holds for us." How nice, 'Us'...it felt so nice.

Chivosi chewed over Merrills remarks - it was true, a pack such as they would be building, filled with the young, the old,the misunderstood or unwanted could indeed be seen as an easy target for the more cruel among their kind.

"Merrill speaks truth, it is likely we will indeed be seen as an easy target for the cruel types - and we must all be careful just who we invite inside - good judgement of character is important as is vigilance. I have no doubt that all gathered here are of good character and even the meek among us I hope would be raised to action in the defense of another, we will seem a soft target ...but perhaps in time as bonds and friendships develop it will not be so, nothing after all is more dangerous then one defending a home they love...and I do so very hope such a pride emerges within us in time"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:04 pm

"Defending out of love is one thing," Merrill added, "but having the strength to do so is another, We may end up adding a training program if neccessary, but then I'd wonder what it is we really have here. Strange pack, being an inn and living a warrior's life. But we'll see how it comes." She did not need to mention her own experience in battle, for her hardened figure spoke for itself; a wolf from the mountains indeed. "We'll see, we'll see . . . I'd suppose our first order of business is to scent the borders."

Menelaus nodded briskly after Merrill had had her time to speak. He listened carefully to her words and had taken a moment to really group up and realize that they were gonna do this. This was it. They were a pack in his mind. A group of wolves joining together to help one another out and live together in peace. His tail raised all proud like and he smiled at Chiv.

"Then that's what we should do..." He said, even though he was still a littel unfamiliar with where their borders actually were.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 19, 2009 4:27 pm

"Right!..right of course we ought to go and do that..."

Chivosi agreed with Mene, eyes flicking to Merrill, hmm..perhaps she and mee ough to have thought about thier lands exact boarders before gathering this group - but eh...they could make do, i mean really how hard could it be? The river they stood beside would make a decent enough refernce point, and she was fairly certain some hills to the west would make a nice border marker.

Of course Chiv couldn't exactly let out that Mene and her had neglected this small detail - hey it was thier first time, give'em a break? - and with a nod of her head she motioned off down the river.

"Well lets get to it then?Might take a bit of time - everyone who wishes to stay and become a part of this group let's go!"

Turning she set off down the river, giving Mene a 'what the hell do we do now?' look that the others couldn't see as she passd him.

Merrill nodded as well once the okay was given, standing. Within minutes she returned to her old lifestyle of lieutenant, her head held proudly as she glanced about her. "To arms, then, or whatever you might call it. I'll follow the western river and see where it takes me while you two go on and chat, or however you plant to split up, or whatever it is you alphas do when alone. Green Hare, to the north a bit if you will. Rat Race, just . . . watch the main camp while we're gone for a touch." The condition he was currently in made her wonder if Edgar was up for any long walks, regardless of how long he had been on the move in said condition. He didn't seem to object much, at least, quietly settling right there on the grass and fiddling with one of its taller stems.

"Candyman, take the south then. We'll meet by the end of the day at the most. Remember, not too close to any other packs whatsoever." With that, Merrill turned and made her way briskly along with the flow of the river, steps set towards her future.
