It was nice to know Asa wasn't leaving. Ylva had honestly thought the night before he was gone for good. Really she was surprised that he had opted to stay here with her. She wasn't going to admit that ... ever, but really she was happy. You could tell in her step she was happy.
No longer was she his keeper though. That night she'd given him his life back to do with how he choose. He could leave any moment and not look back which still worried Ylva.
When the two first met she didn't want anything to do with the dying hyena but now she wanted to be around him. For as long as she could hold on to him. Was this the beginnings of something more then just protective guardian? Not that Ylva would ever admit, but sure she had feelings for Asa. Asa was hers and now he was his again.
Ah well, none of that mattered right now. Ylva lifted her head from her corner and stared up at one of the crystals over head. Funny, she never noticed how dangerously pointy they were. Funny Asa never tried to kill him self with one... why'd she leave a suicidal hyena in here in the first place? Not smart.
Ylva shook the thought out of her head.

Asa wasn't going anywhere now... somehow, he felt a connection to Ylva that he hadn't felt with anyone for a long time. He had never told anyone as much as he had told her... except Kavu, but unlike Kavu, Ylva hadn't betrayed him or left him. She had encouraged him... tried to make things better for him. Something he had never felt before.
Or thought he had felt before, but that had been a lie. This wasn't. He had Ylva... and she needed him too, whether she knew it or not. She had some darkness in her life that she needed to have corrected. She needed someone she could talk to about all the things that had gone wrong for her.
After all, it had worked for him.
He wouldn't say that he wasn't suicidal anymore... but now he felt like he had something to do. Like he couldn't leave yet, not until he was certain that Ylva was happy... that she wasn't alone.
And she wasn't alone when she was with him. Ylva was... special.

The female got up and stretched, making her way over to Asa. She stopped half way and just eyed him. He was not hers anymore. His life any how. The hyena could go anywhere he wanted and he could even kill him self if it made him happy.
These thoughts made Ylva frown. Why had she given his life back? The yena shook these thoughts out of her head. Now was not the time to regret giving Asa his life back. After all he was here now with her. That was enough? Wasn't it?
Sigh.
"I'm gonna go up for some air. If you wanna come you can." Her tone was her normal flat tone she used with everyone. This was going to be hard now, being with Asa and knowing he could slip away if he choose. What was she gonna do?

Asa looked over at her, smiling a little, "Yes... I think I'll go with you." Going outside was getting easier every day, and he had Ylva to thank for that. For helping him stop being afraid. And he wasn't afraid anymore... well, no, he was. Kavu was still out there... and Biku... she was somewhere out there too. But now... now he wanted to see them, in a way. To make everything better, with Biku. To really show her that he was sorry, instead of just running away.
And Kavu... he had no idea what he was going to do about Kavu. Kill him? Make him pay for all the bad things he had done? Asa didn't know... he really just didn't know.
So he walked up with Ylva... glad he had her. Had someone he could count on... and he hoped, in whatever it was that let him have hope, that she would count on him some day too. Because he cared for her... so much... too much...
But then again, he had always needed someone. First Biku, then Kavu... and now Ylva. But Ylva was the first one who had actually, actively, tried to protect him without giving up on him or betraying him. And that meant something.

Ylva wasn't going to say it but she was glad that Asa had come up to the surface with her. Really, this was unlike the Asa she knew just a while back. You couldn't threaten him up to the surface.
But now here he was beside her, shiney faced and ready for the world. It was refreshing. Maybe giving him back what was his to begin with had been a good idea. Maybe... just maybe... Asa would always be there. It was that hope that kept Ylva from running and screaming.
"So," Her tone was flat as it usually was, "You're up and about after all huh hot shot?" The hyena gave her best teasing smile... it really came off as creepy and just not right though. Ylva was never meant to smile like that.
There was a time she used to be able to smile though with out it being awkward. Those days were mostly gone though.

"...Uh..." Asa blinked a little, looking away, "No... perhaps not... up and about. Well, I am up... and about. But I... I suppose I'm willing to move around more now I suppose..." He shrugged, "My injuries are healed... almost completely. I suppose I... feel better."
He couldn't really think of a better way of explaining it. He did just feel better, in general.
"I guess... you've given me some options and I've decide that they... aren't bad options." He shook his head, sighing, "Listen I... I just hope I'm not imposing, staying here with you now..." Because he was always worried about that.
That he would be dumped and left to die. Again. Twice had been bad enough, he didn't think his heart could take a third time. He needed... someone. Anyone. Someone who wouldn't leave him this time.

Ylva smiled, and it still looked a bit twisted on that face of her. A face like Ylva's really did not have room for smiling.
"You can stay with me as long as you choose, its your life after all," Honestly it may not have shown in her tone but Ylva was jumping with joy on the inside. She never wanted to loose Asa, no matter how much she would not admit that fact. Life with out Asa just ... seemed empty.
He was part of her every day now. The hyena wouldn't know what to do with her self if he suddenly packed up and left or killed him self.
"BUT," The female's face grew a little more serious, "You're helping me with meals now."
A smile curled back on her maw and this time it was meant to be twisted. You could almost expect her to cackle at any time, but she didn't. Just smiled.

Asa smiled a little, relieved. He had a home now... a safe place where he could go. He and Ylva... wasn't that what he had always wanted? Well, except that he had expected Biku to be with him. But she wasn't... and she wouldn't be.
Biku was gone... but now he had Ylva. And she was strong... stronger than he was. In personality anyway.
"I think I can manage that, now that I can actually move." He mentioned, chuckling a little. Laughter. When had he last laughed? Probably at something that Kavu had told him. He liked laughing at the things Ylva said more.
There was less... sadism, with her.

Ylva didn't laugh along with Asa but she was glowing with warm feelings. She was glad that she had saved Asa off those rocks and not left him for the vultures. Damn glad, now the two could live together and all would be good.
Hold on, Ylva shook her head. It wasn't the end of their story yet, she still had to be careful with Asa. At least in her mind. The female didn't fully trust Asa to not wander off and kill him self. Not yet at least.
"I'll... go with you," She cleared her throat, "In case you need help. Its been a while since you been out. That cave crystal light can't be good to be in for ... so long."
Yeah, thats why she was going with him. Her tail swished from side to side, "Sides , there are other hyena's about. This is fertile ground for hunting and scavenging. " She did not want Asa to run into anyone who had hurt him alone if the time had come.
More importantly, she didn not want him to run into those who had hurt her.

Asa sighed, nodding his head a little, "I won't hurt myself... but if you'd like to join me, that's fine."
Though he couldn't blame her for worrying. He didn't exactly have the best history for going off along and not trying to jump off something that would kill him. Ylva had plenty of cause to worry... but he wasn't planning on dying just yet.
And if he met more hyenas... as long as they weren't Kavu, he was sure he could handle himself, in one way or another. "I would like if though... if you actually came with me. Hunts are more interesting with two."

Ylva gave Asa a nod. "Yeah... fun. " The female mumbled.
Trust would come in time from Ylva. It had been only a little while ago that Asa had almost run off to take his life. Now Ylva just felt inclined to be a little... protective of her companion. The female had deep rooted feelings for him after all. And whether she liked it or not, he was part of her life and if anything bad happened she would never be the same.
Maybe one day he'd help heal her a bit. Maybe.
For now, breakfast. The female started off in a random direction. You could never be sure what way would have meat at the end of the tunnel. Just had to keep going and hope that you came across it.
Turning back she motioned with her head for Asa to follow.
"Come on dead weight, you gotta earn you keep~" A bit of a chime at the end of her words. . Very not like Ylva.

Asa sighed a little before he followed after her, feeling... he wasn't sure. Dissapointed, that she thought he would run off and die now? After all he had shared with her... after she had convinced him not to take his own life and stay with her... how could he leave her now?
"You seem to be in an awfully good mood." He commented, saying it as conversationally as he could. He didn't want to... what? Scare her off? Make her... he didn't want to upset her. Seeing her sad was almost... as bad as when he had seen the look on Biku's face.
Something about dissapointed women always destroyed him... in such a strange way. Perhaps his gentlemanly stature was returning?

Ylva's head rose up high at Asa's observation, "So you noticed huh?" She swished her tail in a teasing manner at him as she went along. Yeah, she would NEVER be playful around anyone else but Asa. Showing a soft side here and there, the hyena figured it was good for Asa.
Deep down though the worry clawed at her. For now though, she could shove that worry some where else. For Asa's sake.
Food, that was what they had came out here for right?

Asa smiled a little, nodding his head, "Of course I noticed... I know you better than-" He stopped, unsure of how to finish that sentence. 'I know you better than anyone' was what he had been about to say, but he hadn't managed to get the words out. Why not? He probably did know her better than anyone...
...but he had said that to Biku so often. Told her that he knew her, and lied to her to tell her she knew him. But Ylva really did know his secrets now. All the things that were wrong with his life. And for once, he wasn't ashamed of himself for letting her know everything that was wrong with him.
He didn't have to be ashamed of himself for his failings. Ylva was stronger than he was, stronger than Biku had been... and he felt as though he needed to be close to that strength.
He knew her better than anyone. He wanted to be... closer to her.
"Smells like food." He said, changing the subject as quickly as he could.

Ylva opened her maw in protest about him knowing her better then anyone and closed it. Come to think of it, he really did. Asa had seen inside her even ways her human could not have. Part of that being a language barrier but still.
She had come to love Asa. Actually love him more then she ever could love her human. Asa understood her quirks and she understood his. The female was stunned, and it showed on her face that something had just dawned on her.
Quickly, she shook the look off and nodded at Asa, "Y-yeah, food. Food..."
Indeed there was a scent in the air. Something none dog and none feline, something that could be eaten.
"W-well, you mind leading the way Asa? I think I'm a little light headed from hunger and your sense of smell seems to be... better," She looked up and tried to not make eye contact.
