Physical Description:
Slightly taller than the average height, A'nt is a boy that definitely grew into his body- he has a good set of shoulders on him, and a decent strength from carting around wines for his previous master. His hair is a dark black color, ending at a length just under his ears, and his eyes are a very dark brown, borderline black. His face is typically stoic, but when he smiles, he seems the actual age he is (young!) instead of the older man he portrays himself as.
Personality: At the surface, A'nt seems particularly cold and distant; he’s not one to go out and make conversation with others. Really, he’s just focused on thinking; about what? Who knows. Typically, he thinks on his job and ways to improve, but he’s acknowledged occasional daydreams about dragons. When he’s caught with this, however, he typically laughs it off and returns to his previous task.
Whatever he’s assigned to do, A'nt takes the job incredibly seriously. There’s nothing occurring outside of his job until it’s done, and focus needs to be entirely on the task at hand. Especially in working, Anont isn’t one for conversation; if you try to talk to him, you’ll get a word or two back at best, if not a grunt or total ignorance. But what can you do with a guy that works that hard?
On the rare occasion A'nt relaxes, he enjoys simply listening to other people speak, particularly the story tellers. If you manage to catch him at one of these times, he’s much more light-hearted and friendly than on the job. Still not one to make conversation, but he’ll definitely take part in one if somebody addresses him. (Even if he's not the most conversational boy in the world, he certainly tries.)
Lately, he's been trying to make himself more suave, thanks to the influence of P'ree. The influence of Matsukazeth isn't helping terribly much... stumbling over his sentences and taking bad entrances hasn't helped him seem to be the coolest guy in the Weyr.
History: A'nt was raised in a smaller, nearby weyr with his parents, working on an apprenticeship with an old Vintner. In his seventeenth year, when he’d gone out trading with his father, he was searched and seen to be a potential candidate. With that, he packed up his bags and prepared to head to Ista Weyr. He’s lived alone there for some time, though he occasionally makes visits to his home weyr to see his old master and his parents. Even though he doesn’t see them much, he has a good relationship with the ‘folks- his father a trader, and mother a harper. They’ve never been of high standing, they’re simply average people living average lives. That’s why, when their son was searched and had the chance to impress, they were more than thrilled for him to head to Ista to stand.
A'nt has been stationed at Ista Weyr for about two years, now. He arrived just after his seventeenth birthday, due to work in Vinification and on his parents approval on standing; since his Impression, he's been working at getting out and meeting more people. His 'little sister' Lissa has been drifting more and more out of his life, much to his dismay, she's yet to meet Matsukazeth. Fortunately, he's taking well to the idea of life as a rider.

Other/Talents: His friends and family say that he's a decent cook, but thus far, he hasn't opened up to anyone about it. Otherwise, nothing particularly special about him. Joe average, reporting for duty.

 The Thoroughbred
The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word "thoroughbred" is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered a "hot-blooded" horse, known for their agility, speed and spirit.
Thoroughbreds are used mainly for racing, but are also bred for other riding disciplines, such as show jumping, combined training, dressage, polo, and fox hunting. They are also commonly cross-bred with other breeds to create new breeds or to improve existing ones, and have been influential in the creation of many important breeds, such as the Quarter Horse, the Standardbred, the Anglo-Arabian, and various Warmblood breeds.
Matsukaze
Matsukaze, which means "wind in the pines", was Toshimasu's famous mount. According to the legend, he was born through selective breeding of only the finest horses available, but unlike other horses he refused to let anyone ride him and eventually ran away. By unknown methods, Toshimasu managed to tame the wild horse; some have attributed it due to Toshimasu's wild personality. Since then, the two were never seen apart.
Matsukaze was said to be a horse of immense strength, able to carry his master's large frame for days. After his master's death, it is said that Matsukaze ran off and was never seen again.
Brown Matsukaeth
Brown Matsukazeth is the leaner, sleeker brown and in turn, he is also prouder. But just because he is proud doesn’t mean he’s confident! Matsukazeth often thinks far too much for his own good, running every possible scenario and often getting himself in a thither trying to select the best course of action, especially when he’s young. He’s not hard to set off, either. Matsukazeth is the hotter of the browns; his temper is hotter, but so is his passion and loyalty.
Nothing means more to Matsukazeth then his rider and his well-being. The brown is loyal beyond reason and nothing anyone could ever say (even his own rider) can ever change his mind. Liable to defend his rider against slander, he’d never bad-mouth his rider to anyone. He’s so loyal, in fact, that he gets rather fussy whenever anyone else touches him and complains loudly should His ever offer anyone a ride. He is no one’s but His!
This mindset keeps Matsukazeth from being terribly interested in females, despite the fact that he is brown. Of course, he is in no way adverse to the idea of flights, and would go after anyone his rider sent him after with every intention of catching the female. He heartily prefers Queens, being a larger brown, but will chase a green if his rider asks. He will do absolutely anything his rider asks at any given time and rarely speaks against it. If he does, it’s something seriously concerning.
Matsukazeth has very little ambitions of his own; most of his goals revolve around his rider’s plans. He wants to make sure he can be proud of everything they do and he will always try his hardest, no matter what he does. He has no trouble with authority and finds taking orders just as easy as giving them, though it is rare he will make a decision without the say-so of his rider. If he gives orders, he is ready to back them completely. Whether or not he will make a good Wingsecond depends solely on his rider and his ability to teach Matsukazeth to have more faith in himself.
Oh god, why me?
Matsukazeth always thinks before he speaks. He respects Anont's focus and work ethic. It is his goal to support Anont in all his tasks. Even though Anont comes across as cold and distant, Matsukazeth doesn't shy. He understands what being a deep thinker can make you, and he will do his best to socialize if Anont, if he thinks it's in Anont's best interest. While not a natural leader, he could become quite competent at giving orders if his rider teaches him such. Matsukazeth is all for Anont and there is nothing else to it.
