I noticed that the clans are getting some members, so feel free to post applications here smile These'll be open for two weeks smile After the two week period, I'll announce which of the clans has been accepted, it could be anywhere from none to all of them. I'm judging based on individual merit, it's not a competition.
Form: Clan Name: Clan OOC Owner: Saighneian Leader(s): Cert Colors: Clan Location: Clan Concept: (put as much as you want here about history, social structure, etc. Whatever it is that makes your clan better than the others) Clan Members:
Some reminders about what is required for a clan. -A clan MUST have a leader and that leader will be required to pm a completed rp to MidnyghtIce every two months otherwise they will be purged. - A clan MUST have three members to be formed and if the member count ever drops below that they will be considered disbanded and lose their territory. -If a clan has multiple leaders they must all have completed rps every two months on an individual basis otherwise they will be removed from their leadership position.

Accepted by: MidnyghtIce Clan Name: Undecided (temporarily referred to as 'Coldstone') Clan OOC Owner: Deneris Saighneian Leader(s): Frost Cert Colors: Light blue (winter theme) Clan Location: [x]
Clan Concept:The Coldstone were an ancient Clan of Saigh, one of the first ever formed. They resided in the northernmost parts of the mountains, in a valley they called Coldstone Valley. It is located at the base of the northernmost parts of the mountains, higher than the Plains, but low enough for a Saigh to survive the cold during the winter months. The winter up here lasts longer and is harsher than in the Plains. During the summer months, however, the Valley is a very pleasant place to be in. There are two main sources of water and a couple of springs here and there. There is also plenty of prey animals an other sources of food, such as fruit trees and berry bushes.
The cats there were proud and tough, like their mountain home, much tougher than the plaindwellers. But the once great Clan had dwindled in numbers. They distanced themselves from the rest of the world and few outside the Valley knew of its existence. Not many Saigh would wander these places and fewer would stumble upon the Valley. If someone did, it was usually because someone had told them about it.
Frost was born during those times, as one of the sons from the first litter of the Protector, the leader of the Clan. Then, one cold night, a pack of rogues attacked the valley. It was lead by a Saigh who sought revenge on the clan, for whatever reason. The Clan was destroyed and young Frost was saved by one of the babysitters. To keep him safe she brought him deep into the heart of the Plains, far from his home. He grew up there, not knowing if any of his family survived. Now a fully grown, powerful young male, he can finally return to his birthplace and revive the Coldstone clan. He recently got reunited with his sister Eirwen, the youngest of his siblings, while traveling across the Plains searching for any surviving clan members, as well as gathering new ones.
Member details:
Colors The most common colors among the Coldstone folk are shades of white/gray, blue, brown and black. Shades of purple and green are also seen occasionally. Any other color is a sign of outsider blood. While Saigh with outsider colors will not be treated differently, they will probably have more trouble rising in rank and finding a mate, as they will be considered weaker than those born from the clan.
Physique The Saigh that live in the Valley are among the largest Plain Saigh. Over time their coats have also become thicker and longer, to help them survive the cold.
Leadership:
The Protector (1/1) The Clan is led by the Protector. All final decisions are made by him and he makes sure the Clan is running smoothly. The Elders serve as his advisers, but the Protector has final say in all important matters. In times of war, he is also the Warleader.
Consort (0/1) The Protector's mate. The Consort take cares of the less important matters and issues about the day-to-day life are taken up with her. If the Protector must leave the Clan for a certain period of time, she acts as leader.
Elder (0/-) The oldest, and now retired, Saigh from the clan, who have proved themselves many times over. They form the clan's council and serve as advisers to the Protector and his Consort. When they gather together, they do so in the stone circle - it is located in the center of the Valley and it is also the place where all major celebrations and important Clan gatherings are held as well.
Heir (0/1) The next in line to be the clan's leader and as such is trained by the Protector himself. He is usually the current leader's firstborn son, but not always. This can happen for one of three reasons - if the current Heir proves unfit, if another cub, any male cub born from the clan, shows more potential or if the Protector has no sons. Once the Elders decide on the best candidates for the new Heir, they inform the Protector and he appoints one of them Heir.
Traditions:
Community strength There is a strong sense of community in the Clan. They operate as a tightly knit family - the workload is shared and no one is given more or less than what they can handle. Everyone knows one another at least on a name and face basis and everyone keeps an eye out for the cubs - they are the clan's future after all. No single Saigh is more important than the Clan as a whole.
Breeding Breeding is highly encouraged and can happen between mated and un-mated pairs, as long as it is kept within the Clan. Breeding with outsiders, however, is strongly frowned upon, unless the outsider in question has been allowed to join the Clan.
Lifemating Once a couple decides to be mated, it is for life. Clan members are urged to choose carefully, because once they commit to another, there is no way out, unless their mate dies. If two Saigh decide to live as a mated pair it is their own business and there is no need to take it up with the higher-ups. If the family of the new couple wish to celebrate it, they are welcome to do so.
Birth The birth of new cubs and new life is a sacred thing. When a mother goes into labor no one but her mate and the Healers may enter her den. It is important that the first sound the cubs hear is the voice of their mother. Newborns stay in the den with their mother for the first couple of weeks of their life, until they are strong enough to be presented before the clan.
Coming of Age When it is time for a Saigh to assume their place as an adult in the Clan, there is a little task they must complete. The task is given by their mentor and the nature of it depends on their chosen rank. They will not be considered an adult until they complete their task, and when they do a small celebration is held. On these celebrations the family, the closest friends and the mentor, of the Saigh in question, are usually present. Other Saigh of the same rank may also come, to welcome the Saigh amongst them.
Death When a member of the Clan dies a small ritual must be completed so their spirit may find peace. The body is taken away from the main living area and buried. Then all those who wish to do so, put a small stone on top of the deceased Saigh's grave and say their final farewell.
Outsiders/Joining the Clan Outsiders are generally thought to be weaker than those born from the clan. Anyone found wandering around the Stone Gates is to be escorted away from the lands by a Watcher. Forcefully, if necessary. If the outsider wishes to join the clan, however, they will be taken to the Protector and the Elders. They will decide whether to let the outsider stay or not. Mind you, the Coldstone tend to be picky about who they let in. The joining Saigh must have the necessary mindset for life in the mountains. Their coat must also be primarily: white/gray, blue, brown, black, purple and/or green. A few touches of other colors here and there are acceptable, but no more than that. However, cubs that somehow stumble upon the territory on their own are always taken in. If they have a unusual (for the Clan) pelt color or do not adapt to life in the mountains well, they will be taught the skills needed for living on their own and taken to the Plains when they reach adulthood.More information about the Clan's history, ranking system and celebrations can be found here.
